--Upside down!?!?

First of all, I know most of you on IE are wondering about what happened with the forum. For those not in the know, the forum on IE was upside down for close to 12 hours. The staff valiantly scrambeled to action to find the problem, dodging a redirect javascript, and contacting who necessary. We found the problem and purged the coding from the system. Now we think, we don't know, but we think we found out the culpret.

Spambot. A few Spambots got through the validating system, and most likely one of those did it. All the Spambots are now deleted, and the forum is safe again. I promise, the staff will work harder to make sure that doesn't happen again, or at least get solved much much more quickly. ^_^

Thank the wonderful staff for helping out, they were quite valiant and I am proud. Especialy Camwhore (now known as tin spaghetti), Maz, and Trixie Prower. Crystallac also helped by finding the source of the problem, big thanks to him. ^_^

--Rules Update

Staff, you have the official rules to promoting staff in the staff room now. You'll find it pinned there. ^_^

For members, rule 14 is now in effect! It's nothing big, just an official rule about name changing. It is an official rule now that you must wait at least a month before you can change your name again. The staff don't like it when people change their names everyday. Uh uh. No they don't. XDD

Also, you're all wondering this I bet, the official word on "Whoring." It is allowed, the staff have come to the conclusion to let the word be used as long as your using it in a non sexual reference. (I.E. whoring a music thread) But you cannot use it to call someone a name. Calling someone a whore is not allowed.

--Tired of Invisionfree?

The staff has officially decided along with Trixie to convert TTFF for the future. We will be converting to Zeta boards! =D

We have set the conversion option to opt us for a date on when the board will be converted. Granted, it will take some time, 2-4 weeks, to get the date. But were not in much of a hurry, right? Invisionfree is alright for now, right? XP It's somthing to look forward to. Once we know the date, we will inform you, the members. ^_^

Spambots can hack now? O_o

Personally, I'd keep my guard up. Especially if you're not even sure of that answer. The only spambots I've ever seen are the ones that post random links, never come back, and get banned five minutes later. T'is merely a suggestion, though. I just personally don't buy the idea that it was something as small as spambots.

As for whoring...whatever you guys say. I still think it's messed up, but at least it gives us a little extra freedom. I mean, I can enjoy whoring around the whole forum and saying that I'm whoring, and the best part is, despite all my whoring and despite the fact that I'm saying I'm whoring, I won't be in trouble, because saying that I'm whoring is not against the rules, as long as I'm saying "whoring" and not calling someone a whore. So I'll just go whore around the board now. *shot*

And Zetaboards...yay? I dunno. I've never been on a ZB forum, so it'll be a new experience or something.

Anyway, yes, it took us a while, but we finally found the problem with the page flip. It was aroundd... 14 characters long maybe? A small bit of code, thats all.

The conversion to Zeta will take upto a maximum of 4 weeks.

I'm glad we got rid of those nasty, hacking spambots though. Good riddens, I say!

With the TTFF converting to a ZB, could it be possible that spambot attacks would become less?

I don't know, maybe, maybe they'll get worse, I don't know. XP Actually it'll probably stay the same. This link will remain as a redirecting device, so all the spambots will still find us. We can only hope for the best though. XD

I now know for sure what happened. Be still, it's under control, it was the work of a hacker, someone we know. I'm very sorry this happened, members, and I take complete responsibility for this attack.

So far dealing with Zetaboards....They seem quite safe....Hmmm...spambots....I thought this place was safe from those....I guess not...Looks ;like this foxxy has some research to do....I feel dumb as a turd right now....I couldn't help solve the problem...I feel so outdated with these new spam/hacker attacks...What brought me to the conclusion is how I could not asnwer someones question about why this was happening...reality came down hard upon giving such weak answers...to whichever staff member that asked dealing with upside down question....I'm truly sorry was no help....

Sorry if someone already answered this cuz I cbf reading all posts atm since it's 12:30 am and I just got BUT getting around school filters is easy; it's called a proxy. I know proxies aren't allowed but things like going on during school can be made an exception I assume; I think so anyways. Though you should be studying, not lurking intrawebs. (not that I'm one to talk ;DD)

Oh yes, I know someone who upgraded from IF to Zeta.

They said it's the best thing that's ever happened to their forum. Having skins ready and converted beforehand is a good idea though...

Well, let's hope we have less spambots there than here.

All spambots do is post topics which are easily removed. No spambots have ever hacked a forum's CSS coding from what I've seen

Posting topics is one thing, but I couldn't imagine a lowly bot hacking into the CP. Perhaps the bot guessed randomly on an admin's password and could easily get into the admin CP?

The point I'm making is - what if it's not a bot? What if it's a staffer playing a sick prank?

It wasn't Missy. It wasn't even a staff member, I know who did it, the member even admitted to doing it.

What I think must have happened is that some staff member either changed the board wrappers or the CSS. They probably put the redirect code somewhere in there.

If this is the case, then the Administrator History should easily determine which staff member account did it.

Good decision to upgrade to Zetaboards, I have had some experience with it before and it's a great board software.

I did it, just to clear up confusion. The attack was solely directed at CLF. I admit, I should've taken precautions to center the attack solely at him and not make the rest of the members here suffer through it, but I didn't. I do apologize for that.

As for CLF, i'm unsure. He and I are talking over PM at the moment.

...But really. Who didn't know this? I got at least 10 IMs yesterday from people saying "LOLOLOL NICEEE", so I don't expect there to be a mass wave of complaints.

This is now a personal issue between CLF and I. It was never intended to be harmful toward the board, and I do apologize for the other members that were exposed to it (I could've contained it better, but it was late, and.. bahhh).

I know that you didn't like what has gone on recently here... but what you did was just plain evil. You took something that would make many grown adults cringe and showed it to a group of people, most of whom were under 18 years old. This isn't just wrong, it is most likely illegal, and I personally would not hold back if I alone could get you charged with this. Settle your differences by directly facing the person, not by posting graphic content on their website that would harm other people as well. I have to say that I expected a lot better of you than this. This action was completely childish, no matter how mature the content that you forced visitors to view was.

Frankly, I hope that you are banned and that you don't try to contact me by any means in the future.
