Both me And my mom thought Tails was a girl when we played Sonic 2 Gamegear xDD; I didn't find out until I played the Adventure series.

Nah =P Though I can't remember what I did first; watch AOSTH or play Sonic 2. If it was AOSTH, then it's a little more obvious he's a guy.

Nope... Even trough the actions of him I knew he was a guy... even the way he talked was a give away for me. Why? Because I used to talk that same way.

No, the first game I played that had him in it (Sonic Advance 2) showed his name as "Miles 'Tails' Prower" (even though i misread it as "Miles 'Tails' Prowler") and Miles is a boy's name.

That doesn't always matter. He never really acted like a girl... if you've watched AoStH, it should be pretty obvious that he's a guy (at least in MY opinion)....

When I first saw his appearance I did. XD My friend told me later on that he was a boy.

I actaully did until I played more of the Adventure games. It was his voice that threw me off, as a girl voices him.

All I know is watched the Sonic cartoons that had the miniparts called Sonic Sez (Xd I mean Says. I like doing that since tails mispells that word everytime in the series) The first I saw was a dead give away with his voice & actions. Especially the episode with the roadhogs 7 Sonic getting hypnotized by pollen.

yeah that is true. Originally Tails was gonna be a girl, he was also gonna be Sonic's girlfriend/love interest. There is actually still evidence of this in "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" where the end credits song is called "Sweet Dreams" and it is a love song specially made for that Sonic game (no girl characters in the game aswell).

I think they changed Tails to be a boy at the last moment because they d3ecided that they wanted a sidekick appeal as opposed to an annoying hopelessly in love, amyish character. Interestingly, I think Amy come about because they regretted the change in Tails' gender so they filled that gap of a love drawn girl in Amy's appearance in "Sonic CD".

No, because that's a rumor the fandom has spread around like crazy that Sonic Team, the creators of the characters, etc. have shot down over, and over again. Heck, his name should be a dead giveaway. It would be VERY odd to see a girl/women be named Miles.

I always thought of him as a male, even as a kid when I just first played Sonic 2.
