well, I returned a few days ago and it was a superb trip, I really want to go back. I saw all the sights from the Nazi period, Cold war period and even the surviving relics of pre-unified Germany (statues of Frederick the Great (King of Prussia) and stuff). I saw the Berlin Wall (or what was left of it and the marks where it was), the Riechstag (parliament building in pre-nazi days and today's Parliament building called the "Bundestag"), I saw the Victory Collumn, Check Point Charlie, National gallery, Sony Centre, ancient history museum, Soviet mass grave and memorial, Stassi (East German secret police) HQ and Prison (which was next to our hotel =D), Brandenberg Gate, Sachenhausen Concentration Camp and other stuff too ^^
Hey Edwardvs Rex, welcome back! ^^
Hello, welcome back Edwardvs Rex. =D
Welcome back ^^ I wanna go to Germany some day..
you should, it's definately worth a visit. So historical and artistic (eastern Germany less so (all tower blocks due to the communist regime)). Berlin is brilliant, we stayed in Alexanderplatz which was the centre of a lot of stuff. Munich is meant to be a nice part of Germany too ^^.
Go to a western place if you can help it because the east of Germany is a dump, Berlin is good because you can see the contrast between what was West and East Germany. I also recommend that you try a "Berliner Weiϐe" which is a luminous green or red beer (nicest drink in the world)(always order it like so "Hallo, Ich nieme die grün/rot (green/red) Berliner Weiϐe, bitte." You just get better service that way, they like people who bother trying to speak German. You can adapt this to order anything within a restaurant too, just take out the "grün/rot Berliner Weiϐe" and replace it with anything you want i.e. "Hallo, Ich nieme die pizza, bitte". ^^)
