SEGA today announced the upcoming release of Sonic and SEGA All Star Racing for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS for early 2010. The game will involve several Sonic and SEGA characters racing in custom designed cars, planes, whatever type of vehicles best suit the character like the tornado that Tails is using in the 360/PS3 screenshot above. They will also be racing on tracks inspired by SEGA games and each character will have an All Star move to allow them to take the lead or cause problems for others. Tails All Star move is the Tails Tornado. There will also be Mario Kart style items. Online and offline multiplayer is confirmed. Confirmed Characters so far are Sonic, TAILS, Dr. Eggman, Amegio, and AiAi.

Additional info, Amy is confirmed now, and there may also be a PC version of the game as well, based on the screenshots and trailer from SEGA Europe.

There will be PC version, just look at 1:14 : on lower part of video's screen is list of platforms: Wii, nintendo ds, PS3, PC dvd, xbox 360.

(luckuly, for me, I have now to chose betwen pc and ds version. (most posible is that I'll get both :T11: ) (at least I don't have to worry about game being too strong for my pc, cos i just got x plane 9 ( witch is tougher game thene gta4), and works perfect, so any new game should work)) (actualy it's not a pc, it's a laptop. A brand new one :T11: )

Ah, return of Sonic drift racing ^^

This does look fun, (I rock at racecar games XP) I'll buy it for Xbox 390 or PC if they still make those.

To those that ask, "Why is Sonic driving a car?"

My answer, Video games don't have to make sense to be good. In fact, games started making less sense around the Atari era, so it's not going to change anytime soon, DEAL WITH IT OR SHUT UP!

Sonic driving a car makes as much sense as Sonic himself. There's your answer. :)

On top of this, not giving Sonic a car would make him have an unfair advantage for this game, so they would have to considerably slow him down to make it more fair, which we wouldn't like either. So, you lose either way with this issue. DEAL WITH IT!

Of course, it will be marked as a Mario Kart clone and all, but even a clone can be good. It's all a question of whether or not SEGA will actually WORK on this one.

We can only hope.

Anyways, I think I'll get this one, but which console? 360 or Wii? Tough choice. Ah, I'll wait until the reviews to decide. :)

Something tells me that chances are that now awful super sonic racing song will be in it....I hate how they put that song in Brawl. It was dumb to put it in Brawl. However if they put it in there, it should be remixed without lyrics.

Thanks to some additional info that Shadiwulf gave to me, I have been able to confirm the game is being developed by Sumo Digital, the same company that did SEGA Superstars Tennis and the Outrun racing games.

I'm surprised you didn't post a link to it's Trailer. Still I can't see this game actually doing any good, sorry.
