This is a question I always ask myself. I am thinking if Tails was a girl, none of the characters would be would be who they are.

Maybe Cream would be strong and smart, maybe Knuckles would be wimpy and shy, maybe Rouge would be fat, or Shadow would be a cross dresser. You will never know. The characters may have not been who they are and we would be calling Tails "Miley" and he would be a love intrest for Sonic maybe.

I may have liked him more and enjoyed his outlook more. He'd be adorable as a girl ^^ Right now I could take either, back then it make have changed my thoughts on him and future characters.

Yeah, I guess Sonic and Tails might form a bit of a relationship, but fans wouldn't be happy. The idea of Tails being a girl, sounds cute, but truefully some are so used to him being a boy that they can't even imagine Tails as a girl. Me, he'd be one adorable girl.

I think the original plans by Sega was for Tails to be a girl, have you noticed that the ending music for Sonic 2 is a romantic style? Suggesting that the original plans were for Tails and Sonic to be in love

Can we finally squash this rumor? This is very false, he has been MALE from concept to completion, and has ALWAYS been male. The female rumor started from a mistranslation of the Spanish version of AoSTH because they used the Spanish term for Tails instead of the English term, which the Spanish word for tails is a famine sounding word in Spanish. So any female versions of him are purely from fanart and fanfiction, none of it will ever be offical. Also, the ending of Sonic 2 came from a Japanese song that was popular at the time from a Japanese band called "Dreams Come True", named "Sweet Sweet Sweet" (which is also in Sonic the Hedgehog for 360/PS3, though its the later released English version unless your playing the game in Japanese), and it has nothing to do with any of the characters. They also helped create and inspired some of the music for Sonic 1 as well.

Anyway, I don't think it would change how I would like the character at all. I am sure Tails' first name would more than likely be different, probably "Millie". But I still see Tails as being highly intelligent, and kind and having the same personally.
