Title: proposed new rules

Riikka - February 21, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
well since staff has seemingly taken an oath of silence i decided to move this out here, as a way to get then entire forum involved in deciding their own guidelines. It would make sense that if you are part of this community you should have a say in it correct :).

either way leave comments and we'll discuss them here or in the staff room ^^

QUOTE
here is a rough....

Welcome (image)
The Two Tailed Fox Forum (TTFF) would like to welcome all users to Forum; we hope you'll enjoy yourself here.

The staff at TTFF would like all members, and potential members to read and abide by the rules. They are not here to take away from your enjoyment of the boards, but rather to maintain order within the forum. Most all Guidelines revolve around the philosophy of respecting one another, using good grammar, and having common sense.

By Submitting and Accepting the Terms of Service, you (the user) are required to follow all of the following rules. If you break a rule and say you didn’t read them, or didn’t know about the rule, staff will quote the rule and you will still be warned.

You must understand that the staff can not be held liable for anything posted on this board, and is not obligated to get involved.

Warning system (image)
WARNING SYSTEM
The physical warning system is set on max of 5 warnings. You get one each time you break a rule (that is severe enough for a physical warn) in normal circumstances. In certain cases, you will get a different punishment than outlined below. In time warnings can be lowered, if staff feels you have shown improvement.

1st warning = Warning issued
2nd warning = Another warning issued
3rd warning = 3 day suspension along with Mediation
4th warning = 7 day suspension, your posts are watched over for 3 days, and there will be Mediation
5th warning = Banned from the forum

Upon getting the 5th and final warning, you are banned from the site. Don't try to come back after a ban. Any accounts deemed to be created by a banned person will also be ban on sight, along with an IP ban if necessary. At times, we may un-ban you under extreme circumstances. If you think you can act more maturely, contact Trixie, Riikka, Or Mr. J via e-mail (or other method) to see if they approve. In the message, you must explain how you are going to act properly the next time and apologize. If they don't approve, then you are still banned.

Concerning Moderator Status at TTFF (image)
The Administration prides itself on having a fully capable staff. One that can be relied upon to make good decisions in times of turmoil. For this reason we must emphasize that Staff will decide if you are capable for the position. So do not ask a staff to join. Members will not be considered for a staff position if they ask to join staff. Administration will enlarge the staff if it is necessary.

Lastly, be aware that moderating is a responsibility. If you become a moderator, you are expected to continue being an active member of the community. It's important for staff members to not only check the board; they must take part in it as well. Be aware of what's going on, and be ready to offer your input. Keep in mind, a moderator is not a better person than other member. If you become a Moderator and abuse the status you will be removed from staff and appropriate action will be taken (most likely a warn).

please note that some forums have specific guidelines pinned within their forums so take note to read them when you have the time. If you would like there is also an updated member handbook to help answer members questions that may arise.

Rules (image)
1. Mature content
Due to being a Web PG site,TTFF does not allow mature content. This goes for writing and pictures. anything deemed as to mature for this board will be closed, and trashed. Adult and mature pictures will receive a suspension as well.

2. Flaming, harassing, and bashing
Flaming is an ineffective way of getting ones point accross, and like bashing is an active insult towards another individual. A topic that has flaming or bashing in it will be closed, and trashed on spot. both sides of a flame will be held accountable. If its bashing the basher will be held accountable for their actions. If an issue degrades into harassment and feasible evidence is presented staff will act appropriately to maintain the boards peace.

3. Art
Any sprite sheets, fan art, character and fan fictions claimed as your own, but found to belong to another will receive a suspension. Also there is only to be one art topic per person in each forum (this does not count in the story and comic section)

4. Swearing
Swearing is an immature way of conversing with others, and for that reason it is asked that you use appropriate language on the board. The only place a curse word should ever be seen is in a story within the art area.

5. Spamming, Trolling, flooding and 4 words
Spamming is the act of posting useless comments on the board. Minor posts having only one word (such as saying only nice) are considered spam, and are not allowed. We ask you use at least 4 words, but encourage the active involvement within a topic. Flooding and Trolling is spamming on a larger scale and appropriate action will be taken depending on the situation.

6. Advertising
Do not post links as a way to get people to look at the said site, becuase thats considered advertising, and the post/topic will be removed. If you have over 30 posts you'll be able to post in the links forum for that.

7. Signatures
Signatures are to be no larger than 250 pixals, and they should not stretch too far past 550 pixals width wise. If your signature is too long we will send you a personal message, but if you do not respond, by either replying to the message, or fixing your signature, staff will remove it completely. Also do not post videos, song, chat boxes or any other codes like that.

8. pictures
any posted image should not be larger than 400x400 pixals. If the image is larger it should be linked. The only exception to this is the art section

9. Topics
If a topic is deleted, locked, or moved, do not recreate it. All staff members will leave a post explaining the reason why the topic was deleted/locked/moved. If there is a possibility they did not leave a post, you can PM one of the staff members and ask. The Staff are happy to close topics at the request by the topic creator. Any duplicate topics or bumped topics (A month old topic) will be closed. Also do not post multiple times in a row. Please use the edit button if you need to add something.

10. Foreign Languages
Members are aloud to post in any language they desire, but if you post in a language that is not English, we would like to see a translation into English, below the post. We know of no member that speaks every language in the world, so it's good to have a base language that everyone can be guaranteed a post will be in. If you do not provide a translation it will be considered spam. Chat topics can be in any language, but a translation must be given if staff asks for it.

11. Ban dodging, and multiple accounts.
No member is allowed more than one account and if you have more than one, your others will be banned, and your original will be suspended. Along with that any person who is banned but creates another account will be instantly rebanned.

If you have any questions ask staff:

Cypher - February 22, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
I;d like to see, in the 'Appointed Moderator' section, that nobody should whine or start hinting that they wanna be a moderator. It's kinda like asking, if you look into it a lot more.

I think this looks awesome, it would be very great to use as the new rules. Just fix up the grammar and spelling errors a bit and it will be perfect. ^_^

The rules look good but if you don't mind, I'd like to add something. I say this for the people who have a dial-up connection. What about setting a limit to the number of animations in their sig. I recall reading something about that in the rules but I don't currently see them in the one posted in this topic.
The reason I bring it up is it can take a while for a person with a dial-up connection forever to load them. Even with my high-speed connection it takes time and it can lag.

Also, in reference to the "appointed Mod" section. I understand why it is brought up but Moderators are appointed anyway and aside from the fact that it is written in the rules that one "shall not ask to be a Mod", it is kind of an unspoken rule of forums anyway. Members may not always agree with who is chosen but if the Mod does a good job then the members will have to deal with it. If they don't do a good job then they are stripped. It's that simple. A Mod must be inpartial and objective as well as an active member and while sometimes members don't always agree and complain, the new Mod MUST remain impartial and objective in spite of what some members say.

Thanks for listening

that makes a lot of sense and yes the part about image limit was removed on trixies request, but i fully understand what you mean.

Joyo Prower - July 18, 2007 01:45 AM (GMT)
Uh... this topic has been there for over 4 months, don't ya think it should be left alone? Any topic that was left alone for 30 days (now 15) shall be closed.

This is, indeed, an old topic. But lets not forget our grammar now.
