HOLY SHIT THIS IS PERFECT

I APPROVE!!!

I HAVE A ZEN TOUCH BECAUSE I BOYCOTT APPLE CRAP

edit: the website is lame tho. They bash iPod then they promote the SanDisk Sansa e2000 wtf?? Lame.

sketching - May 24, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
Oh snap! I already got an iPod. For free. Oh well.

InhumanElmo - May 24, 2006 09:47 PM (GMT)
Although they do that, its still appropriate enough. I too have an ipod, but we are exceptions. We got it for free.... who passes up a free anything, Honetstly...
(We is reffering to scketching and I)

Donk3y - May 24, 2006 09:49 PM (GMT)
does selling ur old one to ur mom then buying a 30gig with the money count as free....

got the first one for x-mas though

InhumanElmo - May 24, 2006 09:56 PM (GMT)
uhhhh no....
Im gonna start making Idont pen inserts yo. I was always so admant about this, because no one shops anymore. Half the people in my school don't know that there are more mp3 players out there.

Rennac - May 24, 2006 10:34 PM (GMT)
I dont know that ipods are all that bad ive looked into other mp3 players and its all personal preference however about buying music from itunes thats bs. go to allofmp3.com no joke a song is like a .10 a whole album for like 2 dollars seriously and u can get it in high or low quality and mp3 wma whatever u want its a sick site

Zombo - May 24, 2006 11:16 PM (GMT)
still i dont think the iDont is a genuine campaign against iPod... it's more a shock ad to incitate people to buy their own crap...

it's about setting a new trend to counter the current iPod trend, it doesn't solve aynthing

Yakacen - May 24, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
what is wrong with the sandisk sansa mp3 player? looks fine to me.

Zombo - May 25, 2006 12:52 AM (GMT)
its not that... they are saying "break free of the ipod etc..." then they just give one alternative option to the reader... in the end they're just trying to make sandisk as popular as the ipod then they'll become the villain -_-

Yakacen - May 25, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
ah yeah i see what you mean now. that is pretty lame, i didnt notice that at first. heh

darkinertia - May 25, 2006 01:40 AM (GMT)
hah, iono, i really want an ipod still...there so easy to use, reliable, and awesome quality. the price sux tho...

Djf - May 25, 2006 01:52 AM (GMT)
I was given an ipod from sweedish relative...

I really hate it but I hide it from being recognised by putting stickers over it...

Almost 1 in 3 people i see in the city have one though...

ipod sucks though.. mine keeps freezing (i have a mini one ~ I got it in like end of 2004)

darkinertia - May 25, 2006 01:58 AM (GMT)
thats why  minis suck, they take forever to load

Zombo - May 25, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
quality wise iPods are OK, but definitively not the greatest. They are good looking, definitively trendy (easy to recognize/popular), but there are concerns over its battery life + quality of sound (not necessarily bad but not the best out there)

darkinertia - May 25, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)
oh yea i forgot about the battery life

as far as teh quality, i dont think you can base that on the ipod cuz theres a lot of variables in that equation; the ear buds, the KBPS of the music, the model of ipod, the condition....i dont think it would really even matter anyway

Zombo - May 25, 2006 02:24 AM (GMT)
of corse there are many factors, but take a zen with a ipod with the same mp3 file and ear buds, it osunds better.

darkinertia - May 25, 2006 02:37 AM (GMT)
zens do look pretty nice too....are they easy to use? like whats differnt from an ipod?

S-L Mafia - May 25, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah fuck i-Pod! I got a Creative Zen Vision:M and that thing murders the video i-Pod hands-down. I'm not paying money on fucking i-Tunes shit.

Zombo - May 25, 2006 02:54 AM (GMT)
Zens are cool, the new Vision:M is really nice, but people say Creative copied the iPod's look, but this is pointless since Apple copied Creative's interface in the first place anyway.

The sound quality and battery life are both superior to the iPod. My only gripe is that there's no 60gig version available.

Sadly, I think the Zen will always be referred as a cheap ripoff the iPod, so you probably won't get much social recognition by buying tihs "imitation". Sadly, people do consider the brand as the top priority when purchasing a (non-trivial) product.

InhumanElmo - May 25, 2006 02:54 AM (GMT)
The ipod battery life sux. Non replaceable batteries (although there are kits). I have linux on mine so yeah thats the only cool part. And I use it as an external HDD, because my laptop only has 40 gigs, while my 3rd gen ipod has 15, 2 of which is music. I still would rather have the new phillips player. OMG I drool everytime I see it... its just sooo..... sexy.

Zombo - May 25, 2006 02:57 AM (GMT)
hmm I suppose you're referring to the GoGear Jukebox? Sadly there's no 60gig version :(

I'm only willing to upgrade my zen touch if it has at least 60gig...

Joshua - May 25, 2006 03:08 AM (GMT)
I'm buying an ipod shuffle in the next few weeks (once I transfer "useless" money into my account) so I can listen to techno & tuffguy hardcore in the gym..

But.. I don't really see any problem with Apple products.

I'm actually planning on purchasing an iMac later this year.

Zombo - May 25, 2006 03:18 AM (GMT)
you're right; THERE IS nothing wrong with the product itself, it's just overhyped and bought for motives that are not practical.

Plus, there's much better products on the market for cheaper.

For some reason my right earphone like isn't as loud as the left, no it is not because of hearing problems ~ I've asked others and they say theirs is like that too...

Also the bass in the ipod earphones is really fucked on my sister's nano headphones or actualy nano. It's sounds seriously someone farting.

DarkArcher - May 25, 2006 12:49 PM (GMT)
Ipods are appealing because of thier looks, display and that touch scroller. The reason why I didn't buy one was because it does not have FM radio nor sound recording.

I think Ipods are getting alot of sales because the image it potrays is like the "Microsoft" of the mp3 player world. Many haven't really heard of Creative and other smaller brand names, so they decide to stick with the Ipod.

errr, maybe its your headphones' problem? Sometimes headphones have seperate volume for each ear too.

InhumanElmo - May 25, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
Again, the product is good, but it is overhyped, and is taking a ludicrous hold over the entire MP3 Player market. The other MP3 players are marketed, but people are just too incompitant to shop around. Everyone has one so they want one. I mean the player itself is one of the best around, but it isn't the only one on that level. There are many others, but people are blind to it. I think its the knowledge that people are lacking. The technological and shopping knowledge. If people will buy another MP3 player, they probably won't know how to use it, because many people can barely perform regular system matinence on their computer, let alone putting music on an MP3 player. Itunes is fairly easy to use and any monkey can do it, so thats why they buy it. People need to become more educated and learn how to USE A COMPUTER!!!! Most teens use their computer for 4 basic reasons. Myspace (internet browsing), AIM, games (not even good retail ones, the ones on like miniclip), and the least is school work. Its amazing how many people I know who throw out computers because they get loaded with so many viruses because they are too stupid to use the software included. I mean there are FREE anti virus software, and Anti Spyware software out there. People just don't know where to look, or how to take care of their computer. Face the facts, the "nerdy" people, are the ones who will eventually win out over everyone else, because they know what they are doing and thats what we need now adays. People who are educated enough to know how to maintain a computer in proper working order. If they don't know how to do that tell me how they're supposed to know how to use another mp3 player. And the Ipod headphones are just so dam cheap. They vibrate in your ear. Our society today man <_<

Joshua - May 25, 2006 01:55 PM (GMT)
So basically your point is that society's ignorance in the mp3 player market needs to change?

I can see that. I mean, I shopped around for an mp3 player before. And you can't really ask for anyone's opinion, because everyone has an iPod. Microsoft made it the most excessable mp3 player to everyone, though. So I don't think society is to blame. I mean, besides for bugs in every 1 out of a 12978162 iPods-- it is a good machine, and you do get what you pay for. Way to go, Microsoft. You did it again.

Oh, and I thought computers in the eyes of teens was made for three things: Myspace, movie showtimes, and porn. Am I wrong? Oh wait, thats the internet. haha

It could be that the bass is distorting. I've heard that the i-Pod Nano headphones have loud bass.

As far as the whole i-Pod discussion goes, incompetence plays a minimal role in persuading people to buy an i-Pod. Sure, the click wheel is more intuitive than the interfaces of other mp3 players but anyone can learn how to use any mp3 player if they are literate enough to read the corresponding instruction manual and follow directions. The main reason people choose i-Pod over other players results from unawareness. Apple has saturated the mp3 market with their products, making information about other mp3 players virtually inaccessible and obscure. Thus, consumers are deluded into making a poorly informed decision when it comes to choosing the right player. The i-Pod also has a myriad of "trendy" accessories, making it somewhat of a fashion statement or fad; that it's "cool" to be wearing an i-Pod on your arm or around your neck. I'm not saying the player itself is bad; it's just made to look pretentious by Apple's marketing campaign. Making people abandon the i-Pod craze is tantamount to forcing people to stop carrying around cell phones just to look cool; both are utterly impossible. So, the next best thing that can be done is to raise people's awareness and persuade them to consider other alternatives on the market lest they become another victim of Apple's propaganda. And hopefully one day most people will choose an mp3 player because they conducted a little research and found what works for them; not because the player looks cool or is advertised well.

InhumanElmo - May 25, 2006 06:59 PM (GMT)

They're the ipod headphones so fuck that...

I'll just say a couple of things.

I've had to reset my ipod about 18 times
And master reset (deleting all the songs) about 3 times
The battery bar at the top never is actually true (It says that it is half full and then blacks out)
Sound quality sucks
The headphones provided suck - they neither sound good nor are good quality. (The wire coating of mine starting coming off after 1 month)
The clickwheel is more often than not troublesome in using trying to select songs
The provided software to put songs on the ipod is slow and tedious - you have to put the songs on the library then the ipod ><
And finally you can't extract songs from the ipod without downloading special software

The only reason why people buy the ipod is because it's a fashion. Just like why people buy handbags and sadly it has been stereotyped as part of teen culture. Therefore if you are teen ager you go buy one - like a coming of age present.

They have apple products at school -computers etc. - (I bet they just bought them to get free ipods for themselves) and from my experience are pretty slow and are all about the aesthetics. They look really nice but you want to try and log off or print something it wont look nice anymore.

The only reason I have an iPod was because I was given by relatives and when I got it I was like do you have a recipt? (I'm joking about the last bit but the rest is true)

Zombo - May 25, 2006 10:42 PM (GMT)
anybody heard anything about the Toshiba Gigabeat S? I think it's out already (maybe not) and looks promising. I'm looking for reviews or comments for the 60G version?

InhumanElmo - May 26, 2006 01:17 PM (GMT)
This is the MP3 im talkin bout. This one kills the Ipod hands down. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1122651984408

Zombo - May 26, 2006 01:48 PM (GMT)
no 60g version :(

Joshua - May 26, 2006 05:11 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but it does have some sweet features, if you're interested in them. Voice recording and FM radio? Thats pretty awesome. I'd record every lecture in every one of my classes. That'd be amazing.
