Joshua - June 9, 2006 06:04 PM (GMT)
You have to see this.Amazing, and silly at the same time. I don't know if I love it, or hate it. But I want to try it.
Aldmer - June 9, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
Aww... these guys... simply rock... It seems impossible to do, just as it seemed impossible to do penspinning... i'll have to try that out
sQ/Exu - June 9, 2006 06:23 PM (GMT)

RippDrive - June 9, 2006 08:46 PM (GMT)
Maybe I'm just crazy but in a few places the way the ball moved and sat on the fingers didn't look quite right. Looks almost like it was edited in to me.
Rennac - June 9, 2006 09:15 PM (GMT)
that was ridiculous. It was so cool but like so sad i wish i could do that but if i could i would cut my hand off. I know what u mean Joshua still that was pretty cool.
silentps - June 9, 2006 11:46 PM (GMT)
Wow i saw this video yesterday and now here it is on this forum :) I liked the tiny shoes the person had on his fingers heheh The ball looked like a ball of paper.
FireFaith - June 10, 2006 10:22 AM (GMT)

he rolls it up and sytarts kicking it -_-
sicxer_ - June 10, 2006 04:36 PM (GMT)
Yes, alot of it does look very fake. The ball seems to stay in the air a little too long. But still looks cool. Do they have ball mods?

Yes. This was taken from his site:
(All the balls he uses.)
My father always used to tell me to use the right tool for the job. (He also used to tell me that Leighton Orient were a great team - but we can overlook that for now.) So I’ve been trying out different types of ball to see what works best. Most of these were done with stuff from the office stationery cupboard.
The Post-It noteThis is what I started with. If you don’t roll it round enough it can be a bit random.
The Post-It note with elastic bandThe weight of this feels pretty good. The rubber outside also helps to grip the surface of the table. It’s particularly good for practicing ball control
Sticky tapeThe tape they’ve got in the office isn’t actually very sticky. So this didn’t work for me at all. The ball wouldn’t hold together! Your office may not be as stingey as mine. It’s worth a bash if you’ve got decent tape.
Packing tapeNot too bad. But a bit skiddy for my liking. Ooh! I am a fussy one, aren’t I?
Masking tapeIt takes a few attempts to make a round ball with this stuff. But it feels pretty good. It’s quite heavy and you can make it pretty smooth.
Rubber bandsMaking this ball was very therapeutic. I can imagine it taking over from basket-weaving in care homes. But the ball felt a bit heavy and had too much bounce in it for my liking.
MarbleOuch!
White tackThe blue stuff is just the wrong colour! This is the easiest ball to make. It’s a bit too heavy for keepie uppies but it’s great for dribbling. If you find it too sticky, just roll it on the carpet to pick up some fluff!
StringAlright for weight - but too slippy on my desk. It just didn’t have enough grip and it kept unravelling as well! It might be alright if I coated it with rubber glue. But there wasn’t any in the stationery cupboard!
FluffA nice little ball of fluff from the inside of a cushion or collected from a colleagues jumper can make a good trick ball. Wrap it lightly in thread and it’ll travel slower and pick up more air.
That was taken from his site. You can find it
here, just like Zombo said earlier. And just like it was in the video given.
I'm actually going to make shoes today for this. I mean, hell, morning shift at work;no plans today;why not? ;)
darkinertia - June 10, 2006 06:23 PM (GMT)
ive came to the conclusion that this is in fact fake. hes really good at video editing tho

Don't act retarded. Read the rest of his site. Hes been doing this for awhile.
Email him and see if hes for real, instead of being Mr. I'll-believe-what-I-want-without-further-evidence.
Honestly, I tried this. And I got two good kicks with a post-it note. I didn't get to make boots, but I did them with my knuckles-- the ones that look like knee bounces, or whatever they're called.
Though, I'm not big on football (/soccer), so I'll leave it to the pros.
darkinertia - June 11, 2006 12:55 AM (GMT)
No.
i want you to watch the vid one more time. watch closely. very close. look at the ball specifically. thats a rendered ball.
notice when it goes into black and white. sense the ball isnt real and its animated, it has a different contrast/hue/saturation than objects in real life.
can it be real, yes. do i think it is, no.
thats all im sayin Mr. i-cant-take-a-joke-and-i-believe-everything-without-being-the-slightless-bit-skeptical.
Joshua - June 11, 2006 01:08 AM (GMT)
DI, I'm not looking for a fight. ;)
I see your point-- but saying that would have made me react differently, because that opinion is valid, whereas not validating why you believe what you believe is.. well.. frankly, its rediculous. To me anyway. /shrug
If I came off as hostile, I apologize.
Oh, and me not being able to take a joke? Run-on sentences and silly one-word-insults-(like-this) are a joke. So why couldn't you take mine? Something to think about.
[BACK TO TOPIC]
This guy is cool for making a site about something that isn't popular, or as far as we know has never been done before.
[/BACK TO TOPIC]
Also, if you look closely at the rest of his site, you can see more videos, ones where you actually can hear the "ball" (post-it) bouncing on his knuckles. Its insane.
darkinertia - June 11, 2006 01:32 AM (GMT)
well the joke after an insult just seems like a insult enhancer
IE: You stink, you fatass. like a stinky pile of stink.
not a very good IE, but kinda gets the point across
i also did check all the other vids out already and examined the vids again and it actually looks real. i just dont know whats wrong with the ball. i noticed a shadow in all the vids and reflection, and its pretty hard to do that stuff in programs
so i proved myself wrong. yes, i just got owned by myself. it hurts.
Joshua - June 11, 2006 01:53 AM (GMT)
It happens to the best of us.
Zombo - June 11, 2006 02:59 AM (GMT)
who the hell wastes his time editing a video to show such a random "skilz"?
Occam's Razor.

DarkArcher - June 11, 2006 01:57 PM (GMT)
Some how I got the feeling it's fake, using some sorta "string" method in video editing. I've seen this being done in some soccer videos too. Not 100% sure though. Maybe there's a mix who knows lol.
Edit: Ok, the more I look at it, the more fake it seems. The paper ball can't bounce on the hand like that... Don't wanna discredit his skills or anything, but I'll just redirect it to his editing skills.
2nd Edit: Ok, it's totally fake... as quoted from the site "Had a bit of free time last night, so I edited together some of my best moves. Hope you like it.". Now what were we thinking.

DarkArcher - June 11, 2006 04:19 PM (GMT)
No we actually don't :) ... What we do is we enchance it with words and music. Haha, I get what you mean but I'm taking his word for it with the pun intended.

i don't think it's fake... PS would probably look just as fake to him and others
Joshua - June 11, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
Oh my god--- I thought PS was fake the first time I saw that infamous PDS collab. Then I started and wondered "hey, they could've done this for real, right?" And now, I can do alot of the tricks I thought were impossible.
Its all about believing. hahahaha

University. K? The two may not be very different in the US but they are in Canada. ;) You'd learn about Ockham's razor if you took any basic philosophy class. <_<
Does the guy have an e-mail address listed? Maybe you could e-mail him and ask if he edited the video. "Edit" as in make it look fake, not the "edit" he's talking about which is collating all his best tricks.
While you're at it, tell me if you think this is real or not:

nike t - June 12, 2006 08:32 PM (GMT)
I got a question how does he start the ball off in the last vid of the page? It looks like he just moves his finger and it sumhow jumps in the air.
darkinertia - June 13, 2006 12:22 AM (GMT)
you know, im starting to think about it somemore and im still kinda skeptical....my friend in animation said that you can put shadows in it and if you look at the ball, it gets pretty shaky at points.... plu s he doesnt explain anything about actually doing the tricks, just how to make the ball and the boots...
nike t - June 13, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
i made boots and ball and i think it is fake...
