Audio/video files of you playing an instrument or songs you've composed.

thats just me goofing around

give it some time to load

and then give me some grace because my fingers were cold.

spinning a pen with freezing hands?

try playing a guitar with freezing hands....

Djf - February 13, 2006 06:51 AM (GMT)
Okay these are my skillz.

7 Years Violin (Yes I am pretty good at it)
1 Year 2 months Self-Taught Electric Guitar (Can play all of Green Days songs now, yes I know they suck but hey!, If anyone can tell me how any good sites or anything to learn how to shred I will be very greeatful - jSA041? )
1 Year Self-Taught Piano (I guess I can play here and there...)
2 Years Self-Taught Harmonica
1 Year percussion (xylophone, you know what I mean)

firebird - May 11, 2006 05:45 PM (GMT)
Ok, here's me messing around and testing how well my webcam records music. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of crackling noise; the piano is old and out of tune too. There are lots of pauses and errors because I'm nearly two years out of practice.

Zombo - May 11, 2006 06:03 PM (GMT)
many years of piano
3-4 years of synth/keyboard

http://www.myspace.com/profaneanthem

djf, go download guitar pro then go to www.mysongbook.com

and start learning something harder than green day... ugh

Crazyp - May 11, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
ummmm...under a year of Turntablism.. =P

Joshua - May 12, 2006 02:58 AM (GMT)
This is my band. Fares Well Without.
Love us, hate us. We have fun. The tracks aren't the mastered ones I don't think, because those were on there before we sent the EP out to be mastered/pressed. Hmm. Tell me what you think?

Almost forgot:
I've been a drummer for.. closer to 6 years now than 7. yeah, 6 years. This band doesn't really show my skillz too well, but thats what you get for... metal with some break-it-downz? (I perfer "beatdowns", but thats just me.)
Yeah, lets call it metal.

Anyway, everything we write is on the shorter side as far as time goes, but yeah..
Been together two years, and have to stop due to everyone being in different colleges and not wanting to travel *insert amount of time* to practice for the weekend/play shows. Bummer, but thats what happens when you get out of highschool. --Last show (ever) is the 27th of this month. If you're in Pennsylvania, you know who to contact for a fun show.

(BTW-- Listen to "Legolas Ain't Got Shit On Me" for some fun singing/80's harmonies at the end. haha.)

Zombo: Nice jams, man. I dig.

Zombo - May 12, 2006 03:22 AM (GMT)
metal with breakdown? isnt that called...hardcore? lol

Yea it sounds real good, but this is as far as I know, since I'm not a real hardcore fan.

me neither. haha

Yeah, I guess you could call it that, but because I don't really dig on hardcore much these days, I'd rather fall into the catagory of metal. Because whether a band likes it or not, they always fall into a catagory. /shrug

I use to hear alot.. "We're different than other bands"... All I have to say is: "No.. No, you're not."
You wouldn't believe how many times you hear ^this^ when you play shows every weekend for about a year. Denial, I say. haha

Zombo - May 12, 2006 03:40 AM (GMT)
uhh... you're not a hardcore fan, and you play hardcore? that's not very commited :/

Reminds me of my drummer. He used to play in a hardcore band, and he quit (we basically stole him away) to play in our metal band. He didn't like hardcore very much, but the decision was still not that easy for him. Heck, I don't think the guy is super fan of music with drum AT ALL, since he seems to spend most of time listening to techno or new age (soft, no drums)

Kinda weird lol. He's fascinated with keyboards, and I'm the keyboardist with interest in drums (I guess). ahah

Joshua - May 12, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
Well, its not that I don't like it. Because I think its fun to listen to, and even more fun to play-- I just don't like being called a hardcore band.. playing hardcore shows... Hardcore kids in general are mean, to be frank.

(I mean, everyone in the pit thinks they have to proove that they're tuff, so they hit the crowd and such. Lame. When I used to hardcore dance, I'd never hit anyone. Granted, I've ruined kids who wouldn't hear my warnings of not starting fights in venues, but thats another story.. Basically, most hardcore kids are skinny, wear tight pants, and think they're tuff as shit. Otherwise they're white and think they're black.. you know that kind. haha.)

Anyway. I like to play hardcore music, cause its fun. But I don't like to... be associated with it. That seems fit. yeah, I love it actually. I just don't want to be known as a "hardcore" kid.

I'd much rather be the metal kid. hahaha

what do you hear more in my band's songs: Metal, or Hardcore influences?

BTW, does you're band have any other songs on any other sites? I'd like to hear some more, if you have it.

darkinertia - May 12, 2006 04:08 AM (GMT)
pretty good joshua! i dont care for the overlapping rhythmns, it just makes it sound sloppy but gotta love those breakdowns ;)

i dunno whats everyones beef with scene kids, as far as i know, there really nice(over here in seattle, well in the seattle sound scene anyway) yea theres always fights at local venues, but there usually premeditated.

also, when i was typing this, i was listening to your band and its fucking awesome!

god - May 12, 2006 06:15 AM (GMT)
i play piano, its really helpful for working on ur weak hand and weak fingers on both hands... doesnt seem to help much on individual finger control tho

didnt your band do a cover of Jesus of Suburbia?

anyway, no we dont have any other songs. We're gonna record some over the summer

Meanwhile, we're all practicing and composing.

This is my latest (100% me) song: it has no name yet so I call it test65, simply because it is my 65th "test" song (not all test songs become real songs).

http://midishrine.com/midi/5640.mid

Terre de Sang (the demo song) is not 100% me. I've written the keyboard parts and the chorus (and the outro).

I'm also currenty writing test73, which is more power-ish, but not finished yet. I might post it if I raise it to a decent level.

http://media.putfile.com/Concerto-de-Quebec

Me playing the Concerto de Québec by André Mathieu on my synthesizer. I've had trouble maintaining the sustain, as this does not quite feel like a real piano (although it's a pretty high quality keyboard), but it will do.

Sathon - June 1, 2006 05:43 AM (GMT)

jSA041 - June 2, 2006 12:15 AM (GMT)
djf im a drummer not a guitarist really haha i took that video down cuz it sucked.

Shredding is an extremely useful technique, but hammer/pulloff technique is even more useful, because it eliminates pick scratching.

if you can perfect fast hammer pull off technique shredding wont really be as vital as it seems right now.

however if you want to learn anyways, practice your scales! learn to alternate up and down picking for each note while playing your scales. start from the bottom of the neck and work up.

what i do is i start from low e scale, play major, then minor, then pentatonic, then move up to F, and repeat until i get back to E, then i go down. by the end of this excercise your fret hand should be burning. key is cleanlisness, worry about speed later.

I already knew that and am practising some fairly easy shred songs (such as Thank You For The Venom by My Checmical Romance etc.)

Thanks for the info though :BRAIN:

And if it doesn't take much time... mind if I use it? (Not exactly the same but you know I'll probably change it a lot to suit the lyrics..)

RESPECT ZOMBO !!!

darkinertia - June 2, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)

or are you using your computer or a keyboard?

hrmmmmmm.

btw i like how you note the difference between keys and piano, most piano players dont know that and think they can play keys.

Zombo - June 3, 2006 01:12 AM (GMT)
I'm not a drummer, but I hold enough knowledge in guitar, bass, vocals, drums, and keyboard to compose whole songs.
