Title: Tutorial: Grsvp

slickhare - June 25, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
so, this is my new GRSVP mod. it's light on pens needed and spins very well. i do believe this is my first good mod! it took lots of trial and error and a lot of pens were lost, but i'm very happy with the end result. so here we go:

The GRSVP Mod by slickhare

Materials:
user posted image
-1 Pentel RSVP (body, cap)
-1 Pilot G2 (front end, ink tube)
-Electrical Tape or whatever tape you prefer
-Something with which to cut the bodies
-a lighter or whatever you use to remove clips

Stats:
- slightly longer than MX
- GRSVP > MX > ComSsa

Procedure:

1) remove the grip, ink tube, and back end (the little thing that screws on the back) from the RSVP so that you're left with the body and the cap. Take the G2, and unscrew the front part, and remove the ink tube.

2) take the front end of the G2, and remove the spring from inside. use a chopstick or anything thin enough to wiggle around a bit inside the front end. now cut off the threading (as shown in the picture below, the red line shows where to cut), and sand down any uneveness.

3) take the G2 ink tube, and remove the small black piece on the back that is circled in the picture below.

4) now take the RSVP cap and remove the clip like usual. take the body and make two cuts at the red lines shown in the picture below. (if hosting fails later, the front end below the two ridges on the tip of the RSVP, and the threading on the back end) sand down the back end where the threading used to be.

5) now take the RSVP cap and put it where the tip used to be. it should fit snugly when you push it down.

6) take the G2 front and the ink tube. insert the ink tube backward into the G2 front so that the tip of the ink tube points in the opposite direction than usual. push it down until it's secure.

7) now take the assembly made in step #6 and push it into the open side (what used to be the back of the pen) of the RSVP body until the G2 front and RSVP body are flush. (WARNING! the ink tube WILL NOT come out of the RSVP body, to my knowledge you can't take it out) if it doesn't flush immediately. remove the G2 front and cut off small pieces from the ink tube until the g2 front and RSVP connect.

8) take the electrical tape, and wrap it around the area where the RSVP and G2 front connect. (if the g2 front wobbles, that's normal. it shouldn't break off unless there's some unusual force on it)

and we're done! here's the finished product and proof of balance:

I heard that gel ink leaks when you spin them. and without that little black thing, well, NICE PEN!!! I'l all out of RSVPs right now, I just did a retractable mod on my last RSVP, but I might give it a try when I get some more.

hmm i haven't had any problems with the gel leaking... i'll update if there are any problems

thanks for the feedback guys!

i think it would be smarter first to use the G2 refill and then use it when it's empty

cool mod otherwise, maybe i'll give it a try when i'll have a chance to steal a G2 from someone

Hehe, maybe I am, oh well, but heres a suggestion:
get a file(I use a huge steel file) and file off the entire clip part, then get a smaller(I use a nail file) to even it out.

you mean on the RSVP cap?

Holy waste of expensive ink batman. I'm sure there is something else you could use in place of the G2 ink, or at least use an empty one. It also looks like with the ink tube in there you can't really have much of an insert.

If I were making this mod I would leave the grip on the RSVP, use something other than the G2 ink and add an insert. But then again I'm a picky bitch. Nice mod man.

you could put an insert on top of the ink tube before you put it in.

i tried leaving the rsvp grip on and the cap wouldn't fit.

i scavenged through my entire pen collection and nothing holds like the G2 ink tube. i had a small trashcan full of pen debris by the time i was done with this. so there doesn't seem to be any other solution. but if anyone knows of anything please tell me

Yes.

so has anyone tried it out?

*edit* when i get another G2, i'll add some more pictures for the other steps so it's a bit clearer.

this mod is lighter than i thought

brykai123 - September 25, 2007 06:16 AM (GMT)
Much lighter. And i was how surprised how much the g2 ink gets jammed in there. Although, this means you do not need the electrical tape to hold the two pens together. It is a tight enough fit without it. Another comment is how plain it looks without an insert and an epmty ink tube in there. Well thanks for the mod! I had no other use for my dead g2 and broken RSVP.
