nate - June 28, 2006 03:01 AM (GMT)
SuPeR hgg
Facts:
Lenght: 18,5cm
Weight: 12g
COG: 0,5cm from the COP (nearer the tip)
Parts needed:
1 Pilot super color marker (only the cap)
1 Pilot G-2
1 Pentel Hgg
1 ink tube (rsvp, Pilot BPS-GP)
1 Pilot G-2 grip (could be skipped)
photoAssembly:
1: First take off the cap and take out the inktube of the Hgg.
2: Drill a hole at the plastic part back of the hgg, make it diameter 3mm so that the ink tube precisely go through it. (Is the hole to big the ink tube will scramble while spinning)
This is what you should have:
photo3: Take off the grip from the G-2 and put on the hgg over the other grip.
Like this:
photo4: Now take the G-2 again. Saw of the tip exactly there the grip have been (see picture at point 6)
5: Now saw another piece of the G-2, (see picture above) Exactly where you cut is not important but the piece must be at least 23mm then you can file it down later if it’s to long.
photo6: Take the two pieces you just saw and glue them together like this:
photo7: Take your ink tube (rsvp, Pilot BPS-GP) Take some glue on the ink tube where tip of the ink tube stops and the plastic begins and then glue it like this in the piece you did in the previous step:
photo8: If you want an insert in it now you should place it.
Here’s the one I used:
photo9: Now you shall put it all together, take the part with the ink tube and push it on the back of the hgg (can be at bit hard, take it easy so you don’t break anything) then take the cap of the super colour marker and push it on the back of the pen. If the cap don’t cover the whole part that the ink tube is glued to you should take off the “in tube” piece again and file it down so that the cap covers it.
10: When you are sure that the cap covers the whole “ink tube” part you should glue the “ink tube” part on to the hgg:
photo11: Last thing to do is break of the clip and file down the little piece thats left, then cut four “rubber bands” of the other G-2 grip and place two of them on the grip and two of them at the cap.
Now you should be finished with your SuPeR hgg!
Final product!:

Leviathan - June 28, 2006 03:14 AM (GMT)
The HGG Profile is a lot like my Jellpin Retractable I made a long time ago.
I won't vote until I see a picture of the R3, but right now, the HGG Profile seems the best. It takes 2 pens and is somewhat easy to make, but I'm not sure about the durabilitiy of the back part.
Donk3y - June 28, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
i just sent a pm to nate with the link to mine but here is the pic.

it uses a few pens but is well worth it i must say.
if u want a vid of clicking, spinning, duability, im wililng to show upon request.
Leviathan - June 28, 2006 09:31 PM (GMT)
Yeah, show a vid of clicking, spinning and durability.
killsburydohboy - June 28, 2006 09:53 PM (GMT)
I voted for the HGG Profile because its retractable and only requires two pens. But I have a question about the modding, how do you get the back thing out of the HGG?
Rennac - June 28, 2006 10:13 PM (GMT)
I have a question how do u come up with 3 mods so quickly that are all pretty good wow grats they all look good i voted for the profile cause it took 2 pens and look the most stock
Donk3y - June 28, 2006 10:14 PM (GMT)
not to be gay or anything, but how is that DarkArcher's mods takes like 6 pens, like 2 hard to find ones, and has like 25 steps to complete and he just gets mad praise?
again nothing toward u DA, ur kinda my inspiration man.
heres the vid leviathan

The R-cubed. I'm clapping. I really like this mod.
Zaazu - June 29, 2006 12:13 AM (GMT)
 love that vid! Just throw it into the wall.
Eburt - June 29, 2006 03:18 AM (GMT)
Donkey, that was an awesome vid... actually I got some Rushons from Japan and decided to try and break one (don't ask why)... so I through it as hard as I could at the floor... it broke... I was sad... well, not really cause I had left over barrels...

HGG Profile mod (thanks to specter290 for the name)
ok. My Idea came when i realized that there's no purpose of papermate profile/anyball pen when we took the grip off. That's a big waste of ink and the barrel. so I started to find out what should I do with it to make it more valueble. Next, I'm thinking about a retracteble pen, but i soon realized that after DarkArcher's HG3r came out, other retract mod just too boring. so I mess around with the profile part a bit. and came out with a very simple idea of making it a twisted pen. ofcourse it is stronger because the twisted part was pre-made in the profile pen. So this is what I got:
|
DarkArcher - June 30, 2006 05:40 AM (GMT)
Yea Donk3y, I know how you feel when you make a good mod but no want really admires it because it requires too many pens. I guess the only way to counter that is to either have very good visual appeal for the mod or use popular pen parts like G2s, G3s, HGGs, Bic Stics, RSVPs, ComSsas, etc. If you use an unknown pen, people will be thinking... "what in the world does that pen look like...ahhh forget it, I'll never have that pen anyway".
I've also realised that people usually don't bother to make a complicated mod for spinning. That's why you gotta have other appeal factors.
HGG Profile:
Really nice idea, but bad for infinities I guess. After coming up with the Hybrid -DC- HGG, I realise that the HGG's grip portion is really long. For 2 pens, this mod is totally cool, a very fresh idea, but may not look too nice when you screw the top part out to unretract it. (Voted for this mod... creative idea)
R³ mod:
Many unpopular pen parts. A pity the rushon is not clear plastic so you can't have inserts which is something I personally dislike. It looks really strong and durable. However, it may be a little too complicated to mod especially when you're talking about pen parts from pens people are not familiar with. Nice work done on a rushon though.
SuPeR hgg:
Hmm, I don't think you really have to glue the ink tube's tip onto the pen because that would mean you can't replace it. Anyway, it's a nice looking mod but I think it is a little weighty. Using glue is something that I try to avoid too because it seems better for pen parts to fit snugly together. Good job on the mod though.
Sathon - June 30, 2006 06:31 AM (GMT)
Thanks so much DA (well, I guess we all know who made these mods)
@Leviathan: no it wont come off. the only reason it's gonna come off is when the profile part breaks(which is what happened when I threw my first HGG Profile into the wall :( )
@nemo:thanks man I forgot about that.
DkGamer - June 30, 2006 07:16 AM (GMT)
DarkArcher's mods are good because it has the "X" factor. I don't exactly find the pens hard to get in singapore. It is relatively easy to find them. It's like the RSVP is easy to find in the us but you are not likely to find them in Singapore. DarkArcher's mods are always creative and has a very good visual appeal. Personally, I do not exactly like the weight of the mods but the visual appeal makes up ALOT for its weight. Furthermore, the new mods he creates has a whole new thing in the mod. Like his retractable mechanism in the HG3R. I would say that his mods are one of the best in the mod history.
HGG Profile
Wins for creativity. But the visual appeal pulled it down. I have to say that although it is creative, it dose'nt appeal to me because of the appearance. But good job on coming up with this mod.
R^3
Yet again, this mod is pulled down by its visual appearance. But than, good work on the rushon.
SuPeR HGG
This mod got my vote. The visual impact was the best out of the three. Although a little heavy, the look made up for it.
I voted based on visual apperance, mainly because I do not spin with the pens even if I will be able to make one. My vote goes to the SuPeR HGG. On creativity, it will go to the HGG Profile. On preference, the R^3.
Good work for all modders.
UnEmploymentDude - June 30, 2006 10:16 AM (GMT)
Well its three AM and I'm bored.
HGG Profle:
Nice simple, VERY creative. got my vote.
R3:
JUST TOO MANY PENS!! And that rushon didnt help.
Super HGG:
Just too much glueing, I hate using glue when I do my personaly mods, or mods in gerneral. Although there is an alternative to glueing the ink tube. And the flipped ink thing, I just got annoyed with that concept.
Ivan the Terrible - June 30, 2006 10:23 AM (GMT)
My vote went to the R^3.
It's the most nice looking.
Zaazu - June 30, 2006 01:29 PM (GMT)
Hgg profile: I really like it beacuse it only takes two pens. It look like it is good to spin with but I dont like how the pens looks. For me visual appearance is important
R3 (R³?): Looks like a good mod. Nice looking and good balance.
SuPeR Hgg (my mod): I guess that all you how said it looks heavy dont spin rsvp mx, right? SuPeR Hgg = rsvp mx in weight and the Hgg is much more balanced ;)
All you how complaining over all the glue I agree with you, I dont like glue either.
And with some simple extra mod you only need to glue one part, but I dont prefere that on this mod. With right glue you dont even see it is glued.
@ DarkArcher: Yes its right you cant change ink tube, but I wonder how many spinners do that? I almost never writes with my spinning pens and even if I would I never change the ink tube since I dont use the same pen for more than some weeks, after that you want something new to spin...
This mod is really good to spin with and thanks to the glue it is almost bullet proof
;)

zepiroth76 - June 30, 2006 09:58 PM (GMT)
the super hgg takes up too much weight in my opinion. i would think that you could just put on another part of the hgg grip instead of adding a whole g-2 grip.
i voted for the R3 mod because it's very nice.

As I said in my last post the SuPeR Hgg weight just as much as an rsvp mx (12g).
If you think that is much ok...

nate - July 6, 2006 03:52 PM (GMT)
sry guys i was out of town, but for the winner its a tie?!?!?!? HGG profile and R3 tie for winner! ok here is how we are goin to determine the winner.....
the person with the best reason y one of these 2 pens should win, that pen will win.
1. HGG Profile Mod - 16 votes
2. R3 Mod - 16 votes
3. SuPer hGG - 4 votes
UnEmploymentDude - July 6, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
AHH! I knew I shoulda made a new profile and spam 30 posts and voted,....
And lets find another way, a debate could go on and on.
Madlogic - July 6, 2006 09:49 PM (GMT)
Would it not be easier to make a second poll with only the HGG Profile and R3 as options?
I doubt they would tie again.
Zaazu - July 6, 2006 10:01 PM (GMT)
hm very bad result for my mod... can´t see why because it´s a really good mod.
But thats life I like it and four other people (I can´t wote, even if I could I wouldn`t do it... not fair)
I will keep spinning it and after I had become the best spinner, everybody wants one :P
Good luck both of you however wins! :)

But it sure would be funny and a pain in the ass if they did! I mean the odds of the 4 people who voted for the S-HGG slpitting for two each is 1/3.

Ivan the Terrible - July 7, 2006 07:59 PM (GMT)
The R^3 should win because it's better for infinitys and overall looks better.
lunasol - July 11, 2006 06:41 AM (GMT)
i think the r3 should win. you just actually have to make it...i pretty much love it. it's my main spinner and main writer.
Length: 21 cm
COP: 10.7 cm from tip, 10.3 cm from back
Weight: heavier than MX
plus if you watch the video, the pen is EXTREMELY durable (Donk3y threw it into the wall crazy hard same with the ground).

My mod (R3) should win because even the modder doesn't trust his mod durability wise... trying to copy me... PSH!!!
and DK, how can u vote on visual appeal when u spin a 3000*F?
also with visual appeal... Comssa?? black body, white caps... very original i'd say. yes the newer versions made it a bit more exiting, and differnet colored grips but still, simple color scheme.
and those who are downing on my pen becuase of "unpopular pens" please rethink what u earlier typed, these are generic pens that u can get from wal mart and office max, that are cheap (like 10 for 3$). rather than buying a pack of 5 RSVP's for 3.

You may think it dose'nt look good to you. But I like the look of the 3000*F. It depends on the individual. I'm just stating that I like the look of the super hgg as compared to the rest. I may have crappy taste I don't know. However, your pen definately looks better than the HGG Profile Mod. We may not agree that the Super Hgg looks the best, but it does to me. Thats why we have the voting system to decide the winner which unfortunately ends in a draw this time.
In final note, I'm not going to exclaim that the 3000*F looks the best out there in the pen spinning community. Because its not. But what I think is that it looks good for a pen that is unmodded.
Before I would even consider making a pen, I would consider the look of it. If it does not look good to me, no reason should I make the mod when I don't like it in the first place.
Again, this is all individual preference. The HGG Profile mod does not appeal to me. However, the mechanism is somewhat new and it can definately be improved on.
The fact is that you can get those pens from walmart and office max. Those are not common pens from other countries. For every single pen modded, there will always be some pens that are uncommon to other people. Yours is no exception.
That is just my two cents.
Toast - July 12, 2006 03:34 AM (GMT)
i really hate this way of tie breaking
its no longer depended on the pen, its depended on the literal skills of others.
anyways, visual appeal, IMO hgg profile out does R3 since it can have inserts.
even if it wont look that great, it is mroe customizable
and nate, IMO you should smake another poll.
Sathon - July 12, 2006 08:05 AM (GMT)
Heh, you guys think my pen is ugly? I'll take another pic with silver hgg and insert. ;)
EDIT: if 3 pens mod is ok Ill do it with lakubo grip
xz64 - July 12, 2006 04:18 PM (GMT)
Another reason why the Hgg profile should win is because you can use the left over portion for the Anyball + RRSVP mod by lazy_farmer. (although you need another spring, but that shouldn't be a problem). That way you don't lose any significant parts from the Profile.
