Title: Double Charge
Styx - July 13, 2006 03:17 PM (GMT)
Yo. I've been practicing a little on Double Charge lately, but can't get it to flow smoothly. Any pointers?
The first part is easy, but I can't really get a hang on the second; Charge 12.

either you have to work on charge 12, or i'm guessing it's the pass that's not making it look smoothly.
FallenSeraph - July 13, 2006 03:38 PM (GMT)
umm teh breakdown for double charge is twsonic23-12 -> pass 12-23. there is no charge at 12. the thing is that after doing twsonic u have to let it swing in a charge like motion. if u stick another charge in there its not gonna look smooth

Are you having trouble with making the pass go smoothly or the charge 12 > pass go smoothly?

When I first tried the double charge, I just bend 1 and 2 in and then bring them back to catch the warped sonic 12-23.

me too i can't get my double charge to flow that good
by the way... wat is warped sonic??

Thanks for the tips.
It's the charge 12 > pass that I find difficult. I guess I have to stretch the fingers more to create a 90 degree angle, of some sort.

Here's a
video I made showing a warped sonic.

first learn charge 23 then learn charge 12
tips i can give you is use your thumb when doing double charge, just so you get use to it. use your thumb to push the pen down back to 23 after the charge 12

Does anyone have a video of themselves doing the double charge continuously?
xz64 - July 13, 2006 11:24 PM (GMT)
Kam does.
Its the last video on the page.

I love Double Charge! Let me see if I can help out a little...
Well, if you're having trouble with the Charge 12 > Pass 12-23, here's what I think. You're probably not letting the pet get any slack. You see, when you are doing the Twisted Sonic 23-12, the pen should still be in a circular motion when you catch it between fingers 1 and 2. The so-called "Charge 12" barely even happens! I could make a video showing you what I mean.
Basically, the illusion, yes illusion, of a Charge 12 is created by the small rotation left over by the Twisted Sonic, and you continue that momentum by bending fingers 1, 2, and 3 for that Pass 12-23. The only real "trick" to this is to make sure you are passing it correctly. Nevermind the circular motion. Not everyone gets that the first time. For each time you are doing the pass, your fingers are learning how to adjust so that sooner or later, you will achieve the "Charge 12" illusion.
To reiterate, right after the Twisted Sonic, the pen barely moves between 1 and 2 before you start to bend them in preparation for the Pass. Keep that in mind and I'm sure you'll get it in no time! ;)

finally someone realizes that double charge isnt twisted sonic -> warped sonic.
its jus twisted sonic -> pass12-23. the "charge 12" is jus the momentum of the twisted sonic.
Eso - July 14, 2006 03:44 AM (GMT)
A bit off topic but here goes...
I think both Twisted Sonic 23-12 > Warped Sonic 12-23 and Twisted Sonic 23-12 > Pass 12-23 are valid breakdowns. The reason I say that is cause if really all depends on where you define the beginning and end of a single trick. And what I mean by that is where the pen starts and ends and often times the difference can be by a few millimeters!
I personally stick to the way I learned it, which is the Pass. Makes more sense, but it's also PERFECTLY valid to say it's the Warped Sonic too. It's all technicality and don't let that get in the way of learning it. I say tomato you say tomahto but you still make ketchup and yummy marinara sauce out of it.
FallenSeraph - July 14, 2006 03:51 AM (GMT)
no but the thing is when u do the tw sonic, u dunt end right after the pass. u always let it swing abit to get it parallel to the fingers instead of perpendicular. that swing is the little "charge" in double charge. no honestly the warped sonic version jus thoroughly confused me even though i was doing it right.
grsbmd - July 14, 2006 12:18 PM (GMT)
Double charge is a hybrid of twisted sonic and warped sonic. You will have a charge motion at 12 then a pass to 23. It's not the full warped sonic, but it uses exactly the same motion.
paul - July 16, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
double charge is like finger pass 12 23 but u add some spins to it.

uhh i thought double charge was charge 23>reverse pass 23-12>charge 12>pass 12-23 according to one of chucko's warped sonic thread?

i think it's better to look

I believe tw.sonic>pass 12-23 is correct
from the twisted sonic's momentum, the pass gains a circular motion, thus resulting in a double-axis spin

@crzyazn: The second half is right, but what that means is that it's a warped sonic. Aka double charge is a hybrid of twisted sonic & warped sonic, aka its a hybrid of charge, pass & pass reverse.
Unsure how to notate it but the warped sonic shares its first half with the second half of the twisted sonic. The spin belongs to both tricks
Tainted Elements - May 19, 2007 09:45 PM (GMT)
though double charge is charge 2-3-pass-charge-1-2-pass i think most ppl get it confused with twisted sonic and warped sonic cuz it DOES look very familair to them. i think its safe to say that its important to know both twisted sonic and warped before trying this trick.
if sum1 already pointed this out, sory for reposting. ill just call it rephrasing

there.

@Tainted Elements: Double Charge was invented long before Warped Sonic came about. There's no need to even know about it before learning Double Charge.
All you need to know how to do is Twisted Sonic and Pass, then you put them together.
