Title: Coin Manipulation

Flashy - February 3, 2006 03:24 AM (GMT)
Can anyone do it? I don't know anyone who can get the coin to spin with one hand, only 2. The only other person who can do it that I know of is probably my bro but the coin is clockwise for him. Im the opposite. :D

TayYH89 - February 3, 2006 08:44 AM (GMT)
If you are refering to spinning the coin on another surface, like table. Yes I can do it, but it usually does not spin very long, as compared to spinning with 2 hands.
If you are refering to any other moves, then no, I can't do it.

Djf - February 3, 2006 11:26 AM (GMT)
Spinning on a table with one hand is easy. You just drop the coin gently then quickly flick it ;) let's see a vid plz too clarify what you are talking about.

H-J - February 3, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
if you mean spin on the table yes I can do it but not so long-_-

o theres the link, i can do it real long, only problem is that i have many things surrounding the coin so it hits many things, the coin spins longer for me with one hand then with two

I was the one recording those videos. It took many tries. Back on topic is no I can't do that.

It seems hard to do that because you'll need a lot of strength in your fingers. Maybe its just that you know how to do it and anyone can do it if they learned how to.

Anyone here play quarters? That one game where you have someone spin it and the next person hits it to keep spinning. Whoever makes it drop gets hit by the quarter. Pretty simple and fun game.

ShoeMan - July 29, 2006 09:19 AM (GMT)
in the superhandz video called 'kickassfinal' in 2:27 you can see a guy called joe jesse aka dredz doin some coin throw with his pinky and i cant quite figure out what he is doing so i was hoping for an explanation so if anyone can provide me one Ill be most thankful :)

killsburydohboy - July 29, 2006 01:03 PM (GMT)
I think that trick is called muscle pass.

http://www.royal.no/elliot/mp.htm

Here's a tutorial, I tried to learn this trick one time, but my hand started hurting after a while, it very difficult.

killsburydohboy - July 29, 2006 01:49 PM (GMT)
Has anybody tried this, I don't know if it really counts as a manipulation, but it seems like a fun waste of time, I might try it, some of the stuff people can build is amazing.

Here's a link.

Zombo - July 29, 2006 05:11 PM (GMT)
don't like this too much, pennies and nickels are very dirty, this is not a good manipulation hobby.

RippDrive - July 29, 2006 05:58 PM (GMT)
I was bored so I decided to try this and I worked for about a hour and made a big ol' tower. Then I hit the desk and the whole freaking thing fell :'(

xz64 - July 29, 2006 07:03 PM (GMT)
The links that you post, killsburydohboy, are always interesting...

Maybe I will try this if I am bored w/o a pen.

Toast - July 29, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)

You could do it with poker chips or just clean the money.

And to RippDrive, thanks for taking an interest, did you get a pic of it before it fell?

Vercingetorix - July 29, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
i tried it once and got to a bridge the span of 3 pennies. i don't really have many pennies just lying around though so i cant build much more.

Ivan the Terrible - July 29, 2006 11:14 PM (GMT)

Hell yeah! Nice Ivan =)

RippDrive - July 30, 2006 01:05 AM (GMT)
Dude, try making one of the domes. That's a lot harder than it looks

killsburydohboy - July 30, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
Right now I'm working on the spiral one, I'll post a pic of it once I'm done.

RippDrive - July 30, 2006 02:48 AM (GMT)
I'm not done this one yet but I am done for today so I thought I would post some pics. Current construction cost, $8.82. 18 penny ring with 1 penny bridges every 10th level.

Beside an RSVP for scale.

And from the top.

I decided to make the dome as rippdrive said, but it sucks cause I went out of coins. It's made out of mixed coins of 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 slovenian tolars.

Great pics rippDrive and Ivan.

But, I personally use poker chips because I find them easier to work with, and I don't have that many coins.

RippDrive - July 30, 2006 10:21 PM (GMT)
Update. Day II

user posted image

Dude to the nature of pennies and varying widths things started getting a little less level at around the 75th level. I'm not sure how much further this can go.

Current construction cost: $15.84

I didn't expect the cost to rise so quickly...

I think rock stacking looks cooler. :P

killsburydohboy - July 31, 2006 02:56 AM (GMT)
Oh, thats awesome and you're right it does look cooler. Too bad it takes a lot longer and way more patience, and you probably need a special type of rocks.

RippDrive - July 31, 2006 03:12 AM (GMT)
and rock stacking is a bit more dangerous if you fuck up.

UnEmploymentDude - July 31, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)
AHAH! that rok stacking reminds me of a story!

My family and I went to a small town, we saw a stack of rocks, my mom grabbed one, HAHAH fill in the blank! It was pretty funny!
