Title: Spray Paint

darkinertia - August 19, 2006 07:21 PM (GMT)
ok ive been thinking of doing this for a while and i finally did it yesterday

i first experimented with the small bottle of painting modeling paint and if turned out pretty good, a little sticky to the touch, but good none the less. i then used this spray paint http://www.testors.com/catalog_browse.asp?ictNbr=36 the one i got is silver...its metallic and it looks perfect cuz it actually looks like a cap (i did this on bics)

pretty much all i did was i took a chunk of styrofoam and some pencils, but the caps on the pencils and sprayed/painted away! i have a few in the show off you pens thread...and ill get more up soon but try it yourself!

will the paint wear off when u drop it or such other effects?

fptbaseballspin - August 19, 2006 11:36 PM (GMT)
thats pretty sweet  now you can have custom comssas and you could even like tape up some of it then spray over it to have your name in it or something like that could you take a pic of the one you sprayed so i can see how it looks? thanks

There is also a product called plastidip. It may be very nice for the outside of a pen, it is basically colored plastic (liquid form) in a spray can.

that would be nice =P

It would make the pen thicker and to for a good paint you need multiple layers of color + clear color (idk the word)

I tried this a few years ago, it turned out horrible... It is so sticky and the paint doesn't stay very long...

darkinertia - August 21, 2006 05:34 PM (GMT)
depending on the spray paint cuz every spray paint is different...metallic silver is PERFECT and i mean it...it doesnt come off, its nice to the touch, and it looks so awsome! im imagining that gold metallic is the same...im gonna get this gold spray that actually 14 KT :P(im doing my guitar parts gold anyways)

Krylon Fusion I used this for my XBOX and it worked flawlessly. I'm assuiming it would work wonders on pens too.

darkinertia - August 22, 2006 05:45 AM (GMT)

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried spray painting the oustisde of the pen as opposed to an outsert. Does it change the texture? Does it stay on after a lot of spinning? Are there any other ways to change the color of pens with K.T. or comssa-like bodies without an outsert?

There are textured spraypaints out there that may be a good choice if you want to reduce the slickness of a barrel.

I would imagine that it would wear down after a lot of spinning, just like anything else that is applied to a barrel. You could also try to find a suitable clear-coating to protect the paint from wear.

i tried spraypainting my rsvp grip and the spraypaint didnt seem to dry evenly so and the paint seemed to crack but for the barrel i havent attempted yet. btw i was trying to do the all white mx mod XD

I've sprayed on a wood pencil. It's quite nice, because the colour went into the wood, and it looks like it's black wood, and the best is, that it feels exactly like an unsprayed pencil.

I've spraypainted the backcap of a RSVP. Works great, and with a white HGG grip in the cap I made an all white Aqua MX =D

I've spraypainted a cap... It scratched off whenever I dropped it and it wore off on my fingers. I'd recommend covering it somehow with varnish or something.
