Title: Fight Spam
Description: Hide post count

RippDrive - August 31, 2006 04:58 PM (GMT)
Edit: I spelt the poll question wrong... I feel like a twit.

I have noticed a lot of spam recently. People just posting for the sake of posting and adding nothing at all to the conversation. Mostly it is just noobs and the only reason I can think of for this is because they want their post count up as fast as possible.

So I suggest we hide the post count. I mean we all know who the regulars are here so post count really doesn't do much. You should be judged on the merits of your posts, not how many you have.

I mentioned this on IRC and the people there said they wouldn't care if the postcount was taken away. I'm not even sure if this is possible with this forum but let's have a vote anyway so we can whine at Zombo and get him to figure it out.

so...how does this help...

instead of spamming and checking their post count, now they're spamming blindly...until they get the rank they want.

Wtf. Spam is spam, you don't end spam by erasing the post count, and erasing the post count is harder and more troublesome than you think.

Can't you just warn the people who spam by PM?

i agree there should be more active ways of preventing spam than passive... no matter how many posts we know whos who...and ...its really sad if they are spamming to get rankings because you can edit it lol

i don think that will work. some pple either have no brains or they have no brains. i think posts in the introduction, spammer's bin and test zone area should not be counted. but the rest should be. also, i think spammer's bin is redundant. most of the topics in it have nothing to do with psing.

spammers bin posts already don't count. I'm not sure about introductions.
