Title: The Book of Cool

fitzgeraldhimself - September 1, 2006 04:48 AM (GMT)
Just wanted to bring this topic out so people could talk about it... again. I was just looking through the little trailers again and the amy arellano baton twirling looked pretty sweet like a big version of ps-ing. Does anybody have this dvd set and love it?

Also has anybody contacted them regarding Version 2 and pen spinning, we could maybe have some awesome koreans or guys on our board in it! Pen spinnings changed a lot when you look at the David Weis videos that are on that book of cool.

And that's the very reason why we should not be spinning very long pens. Spinning with very long pens resemble other manipulation more than pen spinning.

lol you and your stick spinning bullshit....i spin a stick..YEA THATS RIGHT! AND I DONT FUCKING CARE! :P

but yea i read about that and i think someone should do it from out board, all in favor of either eriror or michael say aye

I also have the DVDs, and to be honest, I haven't had time to watch it all yet.

I think it's been long enough that I can say this...but I was originally invited to do the PS part of the DVD. But to avoid conflicts with my own PS DVD which I still plan on doing, I decided to pass it on to David Weis. I'm really glad he did it though.

The thing is...they want people who look pros at their fields, but they don't care much about the teaching. That's one of the things I didn't like. They told me that I didn't need to be great at teaching, as they were just gonna show off my best stuff, but only teach some basics. I guess that makes sense since they couldn't fit all the instructions to cover basic to advanced tricks.

My view on the DVD is...

If you're a manipulation enthusiast, buy the DVD. It will give you a big view of many areas, and it's a great source of inspiration.

If you're a self learner and enjoy figuring stuff out on your own, then buy the DVD. You will have a great time figuring some of the harder stuff on your own.

If you're trying to get really good at a particular field, then look for a DVD on that subject. It will be cheaper and you'll probably get more out of it.

If you have money and a good amount of spare time, then buy the DVD. There are a lot of areas I liked but they proved to be too costly for me to get started.

Overall, this is a great item to add to your collection. But don't expect to learn everything you see in the trailers...not all is taught. There are 3 DVDs and a booklet (which I really don't find that useful), so I would say is worth the money.

Man I totally want it now! But sure is pricey, I better get a job.

Isnt it funny how the catagory is "pen spinning" and they used Mr.Weis to do the tricks?
Lets rename Pen spinning to stationary spinning!

I'm pretty sure the pen moves while it's spinning. Seek out an education first before hunting for jobs.

Nah. He was trying to say that Weis spins with a pencil, not a pen.

Hmm....U could always use International Bank Draft(not sure if m'sia has it) or Money order.

TayYH89 - September 23, 2006 07:40 AM (GMT)
I guess it's a bad idea to use money order. When the receiver banks in the "cheque", bank charges quite a large amount (to convert to local currency), leaving him with nothing.
But if he accepts it, why not.

Obviously, there are many more better than him. Just being good is not enough, you have to be the best.

sicxer_ - September 23, 2006 11:07 AM (GMT)
But skill for age wise, he's good enough. Better film him yoyoing now before he starts looking older than 6.

How is the juggler guy? Do he actually show some skills or do he just keep on juggling 3 chainsaws like in the trailer? cause that don't requir much juggling skills, just a lot of strenght....
