Title: Remove Bic Back Plug?

Trogz - September 15, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
How do I get the back plug out of a bic?!?!?!?!?!

InhumanElmo - September 15, 2006 12:48 AM (GMT)
I use a Chopstick... works everytime....

Trogz - September 15, 2006 12:51 AM (GMT)
what just slam it with the chopstick on the ground? cuz that aint working and the stick is cracking

yessir - September 15, 2006 12:59 AM (GMT)
what do you mean the back of the bic??

if you're talking about the plstic thing blocking it from behind i just use a saw to cut it open

zepiroth76 - September 15, 2006 01:13 AM (GMT)
cutting it open makes it uneven and also shorter. I just use an rsvp ink tube.

note: the new bic barrels have like their back plugs ultra glued on so they are impossible to get out almost.

Trogz - September 15, 2006 01:21 AM (GMT)
well its a brand new bic... anything else???
maybe pour nail polish remover to eat away glue, then try later???

Toast - September 15, 2006 01:21 AM (GMT)
roar time for my bic expertise

get the bic barrel

run downstairs (or anywhere with hardwood)

find a chair

place the back right oon the center underneath one of the chari legs

sit on the chair, while holding the barrel in place

SNAP

the back cap snaps right off, and a par of tweesers should get the loose plastic out

then the barrel will kinda be mushy at one end, but afte ryou put in the other inktube and spin it for awhile, it goes away.

@zephorooth, (i cant sepll your name) the NEWEST bics actaully dont have the backs glued, but US does not have the newest version.

Trogz - September 15, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
wtf??? better explanation please. if it works, id like to know how. yes please explain.

Tenku069 - September 15, 2006 01:30 AM (GMT)
Actually US has both (thats what i think). Theres the BIC roundstick medium and the med/oy (or moy i forgot  ). Anyways the medium u can just use a chopstick, and for the med/oy, its glued or something and it wont come off so u have to find a way to take it off... for me i usually cut about 1mm of the barel where the back part is. so the glued part is cut off then i can just take a chopstick and push it out..

there u go haha

Trogz - September 15, 2006 01:51 AM (GMT)
ahh crap well i have the med/moy

dudette - September 15, 2006 01:53 AM (GMT)
I use pliers. U squeeze the back part and should hear some quiet cracking noises and then it should come out.

nike t - September 15, 2006 01:54 AM (GMT)
here's wut i do i take a hammer, hammer a nail in there then take it out, take something with a screwish type thing and screw it in. After screwing it in u wiggle it from side to side, I do it till i hear a crack, the glue breaking, then i just pull it out

darkinertia - September 15, 2006 03:37 AM (GMT)
ok thsi is what i do with the back of bics....works PERFECTLY

1. get pliers

2. squeeze lightly around the back of the plug. you will hear cracking, thats the superglue coming undone. thats good

3. take the pliers and take the back plug out .... or just bite it off

your done!

NF Alex - September 16, 2006 01:12 AM (GMT)
What I do is I take a giant needle (dunno what it's called), poke a deep hole in the plug, and slide it out. It works pretty well and won't mess up the barrel if you do it right.

Multiplex - September 16, 2006 01:49 AM (GMT)
If you don't have any tools just use your teeth...works for me, if not pliers is the way to go.

Taro - September 16, 2006 01:51 AM (GMT)
yea i pretty much do it lik DI. although it leaves a couple scratches on th barrel, its covered by the cap so w/e.
oh and dont use ur teeth... u dont know where thats been... and its bad for u too

Multiplex - September 16, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
It was brand new... :help: Also it depends on what kind of Bic you get the Bic grips's back plug comes out easier than a round stick I found.

i was cursed with this problem with das superglue bics and this worked, i highly recommend this method.

Dr1v37h38u5 - September 17, 2006 02:19 AM (GMT)
i wrap the end of the bic with the end of a sleeping bag, set it on a desk, and then bash it with the handle of my hacksaw

sometimes this doesnt work, and the end part of the back cap breaks off, leaving the rest of it still in the barrel.

i dunno, the plier method is easier, but mine doesnt scratch the barrel if you do it right

nike t - September 17, 2006 07:54 PM (GMT)
Maybe u could combine those 2 methods, cover the backpart with sumthing and then use the pliers, i don't know if it will stop the scratches form happening but the scratches are the reason why i don't use that method

iBeKev - September 19, 2006 06:18 AM (GMT)
If you need a bic body i could try mailing one to you. I have blank ones. they dont say BIC on it, its from a generic pen at walgreens i got like 30 of them for 2 bucks

DarkArcher - September 19, 2006 02:15 PM (GMT)
Ahh, this problem. I once had this problem and I wasted a number of Bics just to find ways to get the back cap off. I definately would not recommend using your teeth because the cap is so strongly fixed in place you'll be singing "all I want for christmas is my two front teeth" in no time.

DI's method is the most favourable one. Just use a folded cardboard or cloth to prevent the pliers from scratching the barrel. Squeeze all round the back cap, don't stinge on that and it should come off sooner than you think.

Becareful though, using chopsticks and stuff maybe dangerous especially when brute force comes into the picture. Blunt it may be but as we have all learnt, using a sharp knife is better than using a blunt one with more strength.

I have some blank generic brand bics and they are a little longer than the regular bic. I have a question about the bics. How do you add weight to them? They are too light even when I have grips on them. :help:

Put metal tips on the caps.

DevilJackEX - September 20, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
bics are suppose to be light

Trogz - September 29, 2006 11:15 PM (GMT)
Good ideas, guys. Well i got the back off, made a bictory, spun it for while and decided i didnt like it... bummer.

Cuz he sleeps on the floor I guess....

I'm pretty sure that the difference between the medium and the med./moy. would be that one is the US one and the other is Canadian. Moy. would stand for moyen (medium in French). Between making the shittier Bics, if Bics can actually get any worse, and not having access to HGGs among other things it seems that we Canadians just cannot seem to get access to alot of good pens.

godofdeath_ - September 30, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)
i use a little drill, and drill a hole through the back plug, then i do the pliers thing (where u squeeze the sides) and then i stick one of the prongs or w/e of the pliers and just pry it open..

mastersedition - October 13, 2007 10:04 PM (GMT)
Use a cisor. It's really simple

blairend - November 4, 2007 05:48 AM (GMT)
I just took pliers and crushed the end......messes with its shape but fixable.

navyspinner - December 11, 2007 01:09 AM (GMT)
ok, just go to your local walgreens (if you have one) pick up the cheap pack of 20 for like a buck, and practice with those, it dont matter if u mess those up. (in my opinion, i like those better than bics, because theyre cheaper, easier to make, and i have a tendency of losing things.... :D) hope that helped
