This poll is about changing the ACRONYM only.

We can keep the UCPSB and change its meaning, or we can find a new name + acronym altogether.

Pros (of keeping UCPSB):

-Community already established as such, all videos/mods/site address will continue to remain the same
-People will not feel awkward about using a new name, so the transition is smoother

Cons (of keeping UCPSB):

-Because it is not a major change, people might still remember the old name and still feel negatively about the title and/or people who don't visit the board often still think it's the same name.
-The acronym is very long by today's standards.

Change. UCPSB has the stigma of "uber cool" attached to it.

i really....dont care, cuz ucpsb is ucpsb IMO and people will always remember it as ''uber cool'' whether that be a bad thing or a good thing, and i like it just the way it is.

i fink the best is to change ucpsb so we can replace it in any other name

I voted to for keeping UCPSB...Just because it's not an important matter, so it's preferable to keep it, just don't break the habits ( hahaha )...But feel free to change the meaning of it...über cool is über strange...

I say we keep it UCPSB. We're already known as such and It's in almost all of our collabs. Also Eburt just sent out all of those Olympic pens that say UCPSB on them and Eso just spent a crapload of money on those UCPSB bics not long ago.

I voted change. I agree with firebird. A new and fresh name would be good, and UCPSB makes people think of uber cool.

i say change cuz i dont like the long acronym. and i liked firebirds idea for the name....then again, it would be nice to have 3 letters...

As far as I know from the collabs I've seen, UPSB, UCPSB, and the German community are the only communities using acronyms. So even if we make an acronym completely different, people will still notice the closeness to UPSB (and therefore UCPSB).

Just notice JaPen, Penzone, and PDS can also commonly refered to as PenDolSa. We don't necessarily have to have a long name with an acronym.

We can make up a name like Spenner, Spen, or Spenning (the words pen spin(ning/ner) mixed up... ordered them from least liked to most... can also be capitalized sPen, sPENning, etc). Seems exclusively English to me.

What i dont wanna see is just another acronym without some creativity (UPSB was creative at the time).

But i still like UCPSB, I guess because I have nothing against Uber Cool.

I voted don't care; I agree that it's good to see how many people would vote either way. Maybe people won't care what I say, but it's here anyway. Maybe we will need to vote again anyway cuz a different of 1 or 2 (possibly zero) votes isn't decisive...

Why do we not just put up the more popular names from the suggested names thread in poll. Then if one is chosen that requires the acronym to change, it will change, else, it shall stay.

I believe they only popular name so far was UCPSB the Community Pen Spinning Board (not sure what was for c), but the whole reason this came up was people asking for the removal of Uber Cool from the name... it only follows that UCPSB is too close a memory of Uber Cool to what seems (from this vote) like a large group of them. And then H-J said UCPSB is too close to UPSB.

Because UCSPB has members from all communitys related to a country + the people from countrys that dont have an extra community (the most).

I think that we get rid of the acronym... I mean the acronym is cool and all but I think we should switch to something else.

Keep. A change would just mess everything up.

I'd like to keep it to reduce changes, and some people may still call it ucpsb.

On a side note, Nexus, that dr. kt is WTH's dr kt with g3 tips? So its a G3 KT :P I suggest getting a real kt to hate. No one can hate WTH's pens

like some have been stating, changing the actual UCPSB would mess things up a little bit (Eso's promo bics/the olympic prize mx's/collabs/etc.). however, if we do change up the name, just make it something extremely simple, blunt, to the point, and as non-kiddish as we can to keep FooK happy (PSB-Pen Spinning Board). overall, i don't really care what happens as long as the forum remains the same (topics/threads/etc.). like joshua said, i'm just happy to be here.

Can we also change that slogan too? Just get rid of the whole 'cool' thing?

i think the name should be cchange because its just a kiddy name .uber cool sounds not so good

UCPSB can stand for something else than Uber Cool... PSB, you know.

If the acronym stays as UCPSB, then the recursive expansion (sorry, don't know the proper word) you suggested is probably the best option. But like I said earlier, people subconsciously associate UCPSB with "uber cool PSB" after so many months of exposure. An alternate acronym is probably required to overcome this.

yea but the counter-argument is "how radical" must you be. Do the current skins will still evoke images of "uber cool" in the viewers' head? Or does the mere fact of an "universal PS board" also reminds of uber cool? What about running the board on invisionfree, will it remind you of uber cool?

THere is the question of what's the threshold where you must stop this connection.
