Title: Blogs on the board?
Zombo - September 29, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)
I'm polling to see if there's enough interest in this feature. Basically there will be a new category, (kinda like the arcade), where everybody who wish to do so can maintain a blog and people can take a look at it and respond/comment.
It could act as the current "Pen Spinning" journal but in a more in-depth way.
If no one is interested, or no one is planning to actively run a blog however...might as well not implement it.
I haven't tested it properly, so it's possible that it never happens.
Thoughts?

Do we get points for blogging? (j/k)
Does the blog have to be PS-related? Because I was once thinking of creating a thread in Spammers' Bin where you can ask anyone any personal question and they can either answer it or withhold comment, but I didn't know how it'd go down. Nah I mean?
Zombo - September 29, 2006 08:18 PM (GMT)
no it doesnt have to be PS-related.

A question that this raises for me is: are there any people on the board who already have blogs? Because if they did then it would probably make a bit more sense to just post a link to that as opposed to trying to maintain to blogs.
UnEmploymentDude - September 29, 2006 11:44 PM (GMT)
No, its not really worth it, I post on 1Emulation, we have a blog system, only 1 or 2 people use it consistantly.
Zombo - September 29, 2006 11:50 PM (GMT)
yea i know kinda... but I guess ppl can make more PS-focused blogs (altho not necessarily) on this site, since thats what the target audience is... and its easier to check a blog already on the forum then on another site (you might forget)

Makes sense to me, just thought that I would throw that out as an alternative. I know that in my opinion I likely wouldn't put effort into reading a blog simply because it likely isn't going to contain anything that would help me with my spinning.
edit: Good call Zombo. I think it should make more sense now

hmm please re-read your sentence, it makes no logical sense.

Implement only if others can comment...

Woops I voted for the 3rd option. If it ever comes to a tie...just take one off 'Blogs suck altogether'

22 votes only... not enough interest.

Sorry sketching, if it makes you feel any better, I'll vote yes.

Maybe you could just implement it, see how it goes and remove it if unused.
kensai - October 14, 2006 12:30 PM (GMT)
Hmm, ye Zombo, there may not be enough interest because we don't know how such a blog would be like. If you can be bothered, you might want to start one, as a test or a real one by a volunteer.
firebird - October 14, 2006 02:07 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I say give it a trial run and see how things go, because I know there are quite a few of us here who enjoy writing (poems, stories, diaries, etc.) and would love to receive feedback on our work. If what you deem to be 'sufficient interest' doesn't appear after some time then you can jettison the idea.
Zombo - October 14, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
yeh well now i have trouble just implementing it.
Retro-spectre - October 14, 2006 04:42 PM (GMT)
I setup a PS blog system during the summer, but no one wanted to use it.

Mats - October 18, 2006 04:15 PM (GMT)
It seems 26 of us would use it. Are you up for implimenting it again?
Zombo - October 18, 2006 07:36 PM (GMT)
like I said before, I have problems implementing the blog now, I have to resolve that issue, then I'll put it on.

I like the idea, but i'm seriously wondering if anyone would use it. But give it a try, and see how things go (:
ChucKo - October 21, 2006 08:15 PM (GMT)
people would get to know others better.. I vote yes

If problems still arise I can always set up a Wordpress on PSConclave and everyone can blog away. Everyone would have ample space to upload files and any plugin requested I would install.
Zombo - October 25, 2006 02:38 PM (GMT)
well the idea is to integrate it inside the forum for ease of use and accessibility.
elliot - November 4, 2006 09:09 AM (GMT)
Well I'm just offering it as a backup, and of course it would be integrated with the wiki.
