Title: Devil's Shadow

RippDrive - July 10, 2006 04:16 PM (GMT)
Ok, so that's what a devils around is... Now can someone explain to me wahat it is that I have been doing for the past month? I was sure this was a devils around >_<

The trick I am doing is a shadow 12-23 but instead of catching it in 23 I do the first part of a middle around. So the end of the pen basically swings back, over the middle finger like a shadow would but then continues around the side of 2 and under to be caught it 12.
Thinking about it now I might call it a middlearound 12-12 reverse but that doesn't seem right.

That sounds like Devil's Shadow.

That sounds like Devil's Shadow.

But Devil's Shadow doesn't travel up the hand. Devil's Sonic does. Right?
Or are you not talking about Devil's Sonic? ...

No. A Devil's Shadow is a Shadow followed by a Fingerless Pass Reverse

For example, Devil's Shadow 12-12 is Shadow 12-23 > FL Pass Rev 23-12

FallenSeraph is correct. That is a Devil's Around. sketching mentioned it could either be:
Twisted Sonic 23-12 > Shadow 12-23
OR
Twisted Sonic 23-12 > MiddleAround

It all depends on where you define the beginning and end of a trick. Both achieve the same effect.

its either a devils shadow or shadow 2.0 12-12 still

(if the pen spins on ur middle finger and comes back to 12-12)
can u post a vid? i shot a vid of me doing shadow 2.0 still 12-12 in advance tack on u should check it out and compare our tricks.

or its just devils shadow..

or its a new trick!

OH! My bad. lol. Yeah, what Rippdrive is doing is a Devil's Shadow.

Once again,

Shadow 12-23 > Fingerless Pass Reverse 23-12

Anyone got a video of this, i've been trying it, but getting the FL pass reverse is hard, just wanted to make sure im doing it right.

Nighteye90 - March 4, 2007 09:11 AM (GMT)
Sure thing. (I hope its correct)

Huh, pretty cool, I'm wondering how you could make a bit of a combo at the end of that. Although compared to some of the other Devil things its a bit lackluster. I bet if you practiced it alot, the FL TA would flow really well and look pretty crazy.

RippDrive - March 4, 2007 04:44 PM (GMT)
It's a very easy trick to link into an index around. The Devil's Shadow>Index Around actually looks pretty impressive in my opinion, not to mention the fact it can be done continuously.

sisscor spin, which can link into Fl ta even nicer.

Finding out new ways to link tricks is just part of the fun!

gizzardsmack - March 4, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
Why is it named devils shadow? Just because it goes under the middle finger?

Eriror - March 4, 2007 05:47 PM (GMT)
Not really, you can do Devil's Shadow 34-34 as well [fun trick, by the way].

Maybe because it looks like you are doing a Devil's Sonic/Spin, but actually do a Shadow? Shoot me.

trottsdude - March 4, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
i uploaded a vid of devils shadow to indexaround

youtube

btw would that be called devils shadow bust?

Eso - March 4, 2007 06:37 PM (GMT)
You could, but it's much preferred to just break it down as:

Devil's Shadow 12-23 > IA

OmegEn - March 8, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)
How would I position my hand for the FL pass?

And would it look more impressive than Shadow 12-23 -> Twisted Sonic

Since they end in the same position and for the combo I'm putting together they both get followed by and IA.

gizzardsmack - March 8, 2007 11:26 AM (GMT)
position- just do the trick, then let it go a little further and catch it as it swings under the hand into 12

depends what you can do more smoothly. if you have a smooth shadow> twisted sonic, it could be more effective, but if you've got a good devils shadow, then you may just want to stick with it.

try both :D

a fingerless pass just in this case just means that you use the momentum from the previous trick to do the pass... You just let the pen continue under the middlefinger after you have done the shadow, and catch it 12 instead of 23... A little like Demon's sonic where you let the pen continue under the middlefinger after the sonic 34-23...
You cant replace the fingerless pass with a twistedsonic in the same way... A twisted sonic will requir adding new momentum to the pen after the shadow...
