Title: Reversing Ink
zepiroth76 - October 25, 2006 09:35 PM (GMT)
I NEVER do this with any of my mods....never. All my mx's can't write...well...except for a few my friends made for me.
I don't have any thin drill or any type of sharp, pointy knife.
I used a thumb tack once and made multiple holes after an hour or so....then used a screwdriver to push it out and for some reason the ink still didn't fit through.
As far as I'm concerned, screwdrivers DO NOT help with making a hole in the backcap of an rsvp or an ink refill...
Anyone wanna help me out here?

I use a exacto(sp?) knife. Put the tip into the middle of the cap (from the back) and then turn the pen or knife in circles. It works very well for me and it's quick.

i was lucky to find this wierd pointy metal thing. i jus push hard enough on teh back cap, and it pops right through.
i make MXs in lik 5mins =)

I use a fork. Just heat up one of the prongs and stick it through, and push the back part of the pen down about halfway.

Well I know of a couple of ways. The way I use most is the drill. I just hunted a bit and found a bit a little bit bigger (by like a mm) than the RSVP ink. I just drill through the back. You can also take a nail... and heat it up over the stove and push it through the back cap. I mean I use option 1 cuz option 2 I got burned on once so yea.

screwdriver actually helps, but you need a sharp-tipped screw, too :) You can use hammer to make it easier at first. Then screw it in and then out. Try to push the ink through now and cut the leftover plastic away.
I have no RSVPs so I'm not sure if it works with these, but it sure works with HGGs

you need the right size screwdriver
i have one thats the exact size of the metal tip of the ink cartidge. it makes me happy.
but you'll have to look around for the right size stuff to push through the backcap.
if you have any nails around the house, try a bunch of different kinds, you might find one that'll work for you.
otherwise, improvise!

Elmo's idea is great, I too use a drill, but before I used a nail. Worked fine!

so the little circle should just pop out?
hmmm...I might try heating up a fork or screwdriver over something not as hot as a stove

when i make my mx's the circle thing does pop out. it just gets broken apart and pushed to the sides.
masterskittle - October 26, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)

If you're going to heat up a nail, hold it with pliers and then heat it up on a stove.
zepiroth76 - October 26, 2006 02:45 AM (GMT)
how about heating it up on a high watt lightbulb? would that work?
dv297 - October 26, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
lol I'm just cheap and lazy, I just cut off the end plastic tip of the ink tube, stuff alittle paper in the back cap, and manually take out the tube when I want to write...
but I guess when you think about it, thats more work than what you guys are saying....
... dang

Drill, or I use this sharp pointy metal spikey thing that fits perfectly.

i personally have a drill, i got it at daiso, sum japanese 2dollar store thats at aberdeen in vancouver, (as the "2dollar store" implys.. i got it for 2 bucks.) but if u dont have a drill, u could just drive a nail through it, use a knife with a pointy tip, poke, and spin to make a hole, or u can use scissors, same as knife, u use one blade of the scissors, and u just poke and twist.
zepiroth76 - October 26, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
lol ok here is my long and complicated way after reading all your comments.
1. take scissors to loosen it up.
2. push a small whole with a thumbtack
3. take a fork and jab the hole inside rotating directions and putting the cap into a thicker part each time.
works for me

I took a lighter to heat up the tip of the RSVP Ink. Then i push it trought the plastic. Works well and has the perfect size for the Inktube.

i found this perfect sized screwdriver and i hit it 3 times with a hammer, and its through =D
so yeah mx's are really easy for me.
you can always slowly work at it with a thumbtack, but that takes ours. my friend takes 3 hours doing it like that >.<

that takes lots of control... not to burn the inktube too, lol i know cuz i tried that b4, and burnt the inktube and it was messy.... -.- and wouldnt it waste a RSVP inktube? cuz the plastic some times clogs up the ball thingy, so it dosnt write well anymore..

I don't think saying I use a metal thingy that fits perfectly that I found helps in anyway :P

I thought he was trying to make a hole in an RSVP tube not to make an ice sculpture?
I'm gonna try Reversing Ink in my 40US cents each pen =P
