Ivan the Terrible - February 26, 2006 04:41 PM (GMT)
I was reading some topics on the UPSB and i came over the battle round 7-aerial tricks or something like that. But i couldnt look at the video anymore so can anyone send a vid or try to describe it.

Next would be the "Dragonball: Kamehameha" Release. I think now it can just be called Kamehameha Release because I added the word Dragonball in front of it just to make it extra clear where the move was inspired from. However, if the trick actually gets popular, the name Kamehameha might be a pain to type in each time. Tohlz mentioned the name Hadoken from Ryu's move in Street Fighter. Another suggestion would simply be Fireball release, or even just Fireball.
I think however way you choose to do it is fine, as long as it depicts the way those cartoon characters (eg. Goku, Ryu, etc..) do fireballs. I did it coming out of a Double Charge. I'll provide a picture of my starting position.

In the picture, it only showed one hand. You should have the other hand under so it would look like this: < (left-handed) or > (right-handed) Then you straighten your fingers to release the pen. |
video --its the last trick.

hadoken is the best name imho. thats what I say when I do the trick...always. I did it just before class started today and everyone looked at me like
pser - January 29, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
and the video in it doesnt work, can someone skillled explain how to do it?
Zombo - January 29, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
very easy, make a kamehama, instead of an energy ball, it's your pen that's trapped inside your hands, then when you throw your attack, your pen leaves your hand.

well put zombo  i wuz just wondering wut kinda moves would connect well with it

Kelvin invented this trick two years ago (January 2005) as the finishing move of his combo in the Aerial battle. He released the pen into a drawer and kicked it shut; it was classic. He would end up tying Kam for second place with 10 votes.
I know Kel posted how to perform the release. It's somewhere at UPSB; if you search carefully you'll find it.

This could also be called leigun...but yes it's Kamehameha and i agree to it...

| This could also be called leigun |
Kamehameha is more of a flick of the fingers outward and Leigun is a release of pressure.
Kamehameha uses both hand for effect, Leigun only uses one hand.
Kamehameha tends to make the pen spin vertically, Leigun has the pen spinning horizontally.
Besides being quite different, they could totally be called the same thing.

Another throw is this one, that I've been using for years... applicable pens are limited by the width of your hand, but for pens that do work, I've found this to be very precise and power. It's easily within a novice's ability, without practice, to hit things across whole rooms. Even classrooms, for you people still in school.
I like it because it involves virtually no movement of arm or hand.
link(Sorry about the size, I can't compress it on this computer)
pser - January 30, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
wow it is pretty easy, but is awkward and cant do with all pens..T_T i got the kamahameha down..but i use pressure to release it with doesnt add up >.<
kelvinchan - January 30, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
lol, funny how this thread was made around the same time I started to play Dragon Ball Z on the DS :D.
Anyway, it looks like you got the trick down already? If not, then you could watch the battle video again. What I did was:
double charge -> curl fingers when the pen is back in 23 -> put your hands together like you're about to shoot a fireball or somethin' -> flick the pen out of your hands.
Maybe the video makes it look harder than it actually is? I'm not sure because I haven't watched it in a long time. If that is still no help, you could find the instructions I posted in UPSB, but I tried looking for it again and I couldn't find it. Good luck!
zepiroth76 - January 31, 2007 03:41 AM (GMT)
Haha, it looks like it might hurt your fingers a little if you don't put it close enough to the tips of your fingers.
Toast - January 31, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
Wow
so thats you in all those pen spinning promos.
ive also found a cool way to do it
I do a inverse isonic, then with the middle finger of the other hand, push gently at the tip that is sticking towards the hand. (which is holding the pen)
then i make the isonic hand's middle finger press on the other tip, so the pen is actually being held in between those two fingers.
i make the hands paralele to each toher, with my wrists bent in the kameaha stance. then i just push my hands out and release the pen.
platinumnerd - May 11, 2007 10:51 PM (GMT)
can any one post a working video for this trick? it sounds interesting...
sketching - May 12, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)
There's not much to this aerial(?).
Just do a Twisted Sonic.
As you finish the Twisted Sonic, pretend you're Goku (or Muten-Rôshi or Gohan or Goten or Kuririn etc...) and curl your fingers in.
Place your hands as if you are going to do a
kamehameha. The hand with the pen is on top.
As you bring your hands in toward your body for the power up. Say "kame..ha...me..."
As you shoot your hands forward, fling the pen in front of you using your Index and Middle fingers. Yell out "Ha!!!"
platinumnerd - May 12, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
hmmm interesting...
the only problem is, pen flies away from you so you'll have to retrieve it, so i guess it's a ending "arial"
sketching - May 12, 2007 02:46 AM (GMT)
That's the point of Kamehameha, to fling the pen like it's a ball of energy, seeking out and destroying your enemies. Who wants to try and catch a ball of energy? Or even a pen pretending to be a ball of energy? I sure don't.
platinumnerd - May 12, 2007 02:48 AM (GMT)
hahaha good point.
but you can catch leigun though...who wants to catch a leigun bullet or laser or whatever it might be? =P
sketching - May 12, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
Magicians love catching bullets. And Superman.
Kamehameha was made, I believe, to just be a wacky ending to combo. No need to be able to catch it. Of course, you could always fling the pen straight up and catch it on the way down.
Or, use it as a tranfer between people when multiple spinners are using the same pen.
Zombo - May 12, 2007 04:41 AM (GMT)
I think in the original video, kelvin threw a kamehameha into his drawer.
Rorix - May 12, 2007 05:11 AM (GMT)
http://uploadingit.com/members/browse/30855The UPSB battle 7 vids are there. The one with kamehameha is kelvinchan's one. You have to right click > save as or they will play in a media player.
Sfsr - May 12, 2007 08:09 AM (GMT)
Can't you just use it as a transfer from one hand to another? :]
Rorix - May 12, 2007 08:46 AM (GMT)
Kamehameha uses both hands. Haven't you watched DragonballZ?
Sfsr - May 12, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
Ahw frack, I forgot >w< Well, don't they do kamehameha with one hand some time? And otherwise just throwing the pen from one hand to the other that way looks pretty kewl if you do it right xD
