The Challenge System

for fairness and revival, All Challenges will be LADDER format

1) if you're already a member, you can only challenge the person directly above you. If the person directly above you does not respond within 7 days, they forfeit the battle. If you are going to be away for a 7 day + period, you must let me know, else this rule will be enforced.

2) if you're not a member, you can become one by challenging 006 and beating him. There's one catch: before you can challenge 006, you MUST defeat a randomly assigned 000 first.
So basically, defeat a 000, defeat 006, and you're in. Easier said than done.

3) You must (if you are challenged), accept at least one challenge each month from someone one place below you.

Anyone who breaks these rules will be taken out of the elite six. If you think for some reason you will be unable to uphold a rule (for example, you go on holiday for one month), then PM to tell me.

The 000

They are a group of anonymous spinners who take turns weeding out the unfit challengers. Think of them as a preliminary test. A challenger who wishes to beat 006 must go through a 000 first. This system protects 006 from constant attacks.

The Limits to Challenges

The challenger can only challenge the same person once a month. That means if you challenged a 000 and lost, you have to wait until next month. This also means that you can defeat a 000, 006, 005, and 004 in the same day. As long as it's not the same person.

How are videos judged?

Either by public vote, or judges. If judges are chosen, the video will be judges on smoothness, speed, difficulty, creativity, vareity and filming. Scores will now be +/- up to 3 points in each category, relative to the challenger. Each judge then gets one vote based on their scores, and the participant with more votes wins the battle.

Note: Videos henceforth, must be unique and used solely for the purpose of the ES or they will be rejected.

In the event of a tie by judges the match will be put up for public voting for one week, to determine the winner. If a tie is still evident, participants will be asked to submit a second video. This may continue for as long as need be, and limitations may be imposed at the discretion of the Elite Six ruling body. Null with new rules.

The Queue
Once you beat an 000, you will be added to the queue, and automatically will be entered for a battle on the 28th day after your win vs the 000 was announced, unless you challenge the 006 yourself sooner. One thing however, the 006 will NOT have more than one battle a month. The 28 days will be extended if need be to ensure this, and the 006 can refuse any battle if it means battling more than once in any 28 day period. The 006 however, seems likely to have to battle far more often than others, making it better for them to challenge the 005 quickly after gaining the 006 place...

as a side note, if you lose to 006, not only do you have to wait for a month, but you'll need to face a 000.. again.

Is there a limit to how long you can wait after you defeat the 000 until you challenge the 006?

example, if I beat 000, could i wait 3 months, then challenge 006?

(not that i would do that, or could even beat a 000 lol)

To ALL the people involved. If you are going to send me a video, please put your ucpsb name on the video, and either league or elite 6 depeding upon what it's for. 000s, can you label yours 000 vid.

This is just to help me out since I get a lot of vids and it can be very confusing when people label them incorrectly. ESPECIALLY when people send me PMs saying 'i want to use this for the league' and call it something like 'elite six combo'.

If you don't label your video, and I cannot tell what it is for, I reserve the right not to use it.

If you just put 'bobrleague' or something similar, that's fine. Just don't send me videos with crazy names expecting me to just 'know' what it's for.

Hmm. I've been thinking about how videos are judged for this. Sure, they seem to have everything about them judged, but, what is the most important thing in pen spinning? The combo has to entertain, it must be aesthetically appealing. So, I've been thinking about introducing this criterian into the judging. Thoughts on that everyone?

I extreeeeemely like the judging system that Zombo set up for the team spinning battles.

Pros:

videos are judged against each other, not just out of ten.
I approve of it (which is all that really matters ;))
Criteria are set up by importance (filming isnt as important as spinning)
Very easy to enforce penalties (just take off points)
Rules ect have already been all written out, so you dont have to do it. here

Cons:

I have agreed to take over the PSL and ES from Mats... hes going to be explaining how everythng is run, but this shouldn't change anything. Only difference is now I will be the one to send videos to. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

Also, I need all the 000s to contact me and let me know who they are, so I know who to contact. I also need everyone who wanted to challenge one to contact me, as I do not have that list either. The 006 battle will get underway, once I have all the info I need.

Also, I would like to take a moment to say goodbye to Mats, and thanks for everything that you have done for the comunity. If you want this back when you return, I will hapily return it to you. You will be missed, so get back ASAP! ^_^

Ok great, I hope you'll post the theme for the Ps league round 8 soon, now I don't know how did Mats select the themes but I think Ihe just thought them up each round so do whatever you want.

what about intermediate league?

both leagues will be running again. As for his website and themes I need some info from Mats. Th leagues may end up taking an extra week break before I can get things running again, depending on how long things take. I still need judges and 000s to PM me as well. ES is also on pseudo hold for a few days.

I no longer need PMs from judges or anyone else (unless I have contacted you of course) as I have all the names from Mats.

I do however need more judges for the Elite Six. If anyone is interested please PM me, it would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, I got a little confused. Is that 000 group any member of the forum? Or where is the list of those 000 members?

The 000 were chosen by someone. I can't remember who. And if you read the first post, it said they are an anonymous group, meaning no one knows who they are, there is no list.

So how can I challenge one of them if I dont know who they are? I want to participate.

In an effort to reduce the number of pinned topics in the battle zone I have merged all the PSL and ES pinned topics into this one. A link to the video archive (not that it was updated) has been added to the first post.

This thread will now serve to discuss any changes in either the PSL or the ES.

Also the ES rules underwent a minor revision regarding using old videos again. It is now against the rules and will be enforced in all following battles, after Strat1227's.
