Title: Difference between rev shadow and neobak?
gizzardsmack - December 1, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
When doing a rev shadow still, hows it any different from a neobak? I mean, i know that one uses hand motion to get the spin... but it seems like exactly the same spin except for how it starts.
Don't suppose someone can film a comparison or something?

That's really the difference. That, and the fact the Shadow tends to be done at the middle or near the tips of the fingers.

And neobak is near beginning of fingers?

yea... and neobak is fingerless... shadow rev is not...

Yep, Neobak tends to spin on or right above the base knuckles.

Just like how the BackAround is a variation of the Fingerless FingerAround Reverse, the NeoBackAround is a variation of the Fingerless Shadow Reverse. While the pen spins on any part of the plane created by the fingers in the Shadow, the pen only spins near the knuckles of the fingers on the plane (according to currently accepted definitions). However, I do believe that there are little differences between the NeoBackAround and the Fingerless Shadow Reverse, therefore, the name 'NeoBackAround' may be eliminated in the future, if it becomes unnecessary to keep it.

i think it would prolly be a bad idea to eliminate neobak as a name. i think keeping the redundancy would be better than getting rid of it, considering it is such a widely used name, and a popular branch from bak(the whole reason y its name stems from it)
i mean i learned neobak b4 i learned shadow and the neobak name makes a whole lot of sense.
jus my 2 cents.

I think it would be better to eliminate fingerless shadow reverse rather than neobak. Neobak is more widely known and fingerless shadow reverse is rather boring a name and long whereas neobak is simple and widely refered to. Thus, I hope the naming commitee would eliminate fingerless shadow reverse instead.
