Title: Video Tutorials For Fundamental Tricks?

firepong - December 21, 2006 10:58 PM (GMT)
Ok, I was wondering if someone could make a video tutorial for all of the fundamental tricks. So far, I have learned the TA, which was because of a video tutorial that i found on youtube. Because of the way I learn things, videos help me way better than text tutorials...Just not being able to see it happen fast, then slower, than a little more slower helps me. Like the tutorial I seen on youtube, they made it so slow that you could see every step. thats the way I learned the TA. I didnt even watch the text. I just mimiced the way he moved his fingers and pushed th pen. I tryed doing the same thing with the charge, but I could never get it as good as the TA.

I dont expect this to get filled...But if it does, it will help a lot of people that learn these tricks the way I do...

FallenSeraph made a tutorial for sonic and thumbaround : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0E2WnkQovo

edit: I should have read your whole post, sorry for that. You can use media player classic to watch videos frame by frame (if they are saved on your computer). Just use the left and right keys to go through the frames. The left button might be able to move back a frame in media player classic though. Maybe later, I can show you a video slowed down to half speed, quarter speed, maybe 1/8th speed, but no tutorial. Please tell me if that is suitable for you.

Ye, sure that will be fine...As for the tutorial that I used for the Ta, here it is. Its by our very own Dark Angel-Rex... i found it on there before I even looked at his website...

Just watching the time frame of like 15-22 sec, I learned the trick. The rest, I didnt even watch (wasent relevant...) :metal:

I am surprised at how few video tutorials there are out there right now. I saw a charge tutorial once done in an oriental language, but he took you through all the motions many times, and it sounded like he was explaining what he was doing as he was doing it

I'm thinking that something with audio would work even better than a video with text like the TA one you have there. Thoughts?

firepong - December 22, 2006 01:10 AM (GMT)
It doedsnt really matter to me...All I want is a very slow video that shows all of the motions and how they are done...Thats how I used the video above. At 15 sec, it is slow enough that I could see how the pen was spun and everything (the way its pushed, thea way its held, etc.). Ohter than that, its just a waste of timke adding, IMHO...But some people might like it with audio instead of text (if i had to pick, I would take one with audio).

To tell the truth, I don't really rely on vid tutorials. I just watch the video of the trick. As long as I can get the trick, I am able to work on it. There are a lot of videos on turtlespin.com that perform the tricks in slow motion. That should help you.

firepong - December 23, 2006 12:35 AM (GMT)
Thats great xz64. Just post the vids of you or someone doing the tricks and Ill slow them down myself (just figured out how to do it in Sony Vegas). All I need now is the fingerpass and the charge (really need just to be able to do the sonic).

If someone can post a good quality video of them doing the charge, I will be really thankful.

I made Thumb Around tutorial, Thumbaround Reverse tutorial and Shadow tutorial...and they are all video tutorial. Look in this forum

Well sathon, after going to your link and watchin that video, I just figured something out... It wont help me one damn bit. I cant even understand it...What language is it, Japanese, Chinese, all the above?

xz64 - December 23, 2006 06:28 PM (GMT)
Well, I can slow down the videos myself :) , but I'm always afraid to do a charge video because I always move my middle finger. (that means I'm kind of doing it wrong)

edit: Sathon's video is in Thai

" Tornado " , I think you are talking about me^^ The dude with a skyblue > pink pen, right? It was in German. I made more than 10 Audio-Video tutorials explaining tricks. I could do some in english too, explaining the charge or such, if anyone needs to! ;) I think it helped the GPC beginners a lot!

I don't see the point in needing to translate, the video footage itself is what's needed. If the video can be slowed down, that's all you have to do to see what is going on. Just combine a slow video with a text explaination from somewhere else and you should be okay.

Back in my day, we didn't havbe all these fancy new-fangled VIDEO TUTORIALS! All we had were text and photographs...and not even clear ones at that! Maybe a few videos here and there, but certainly no Step-By-Step nonsense.

...and...it always rained too! Made the pens slippery as hell I tells you! We didn't have any of these confamimagingled roofs that you youngsters have now. We battled the elements when trying to learn our first Charge Reverse! The ELEMENTS!

IMO, I would say Turtle spin. I learned a majority of the tricks I can do from there. Quite useful  I know many will agree with me.
