Title: Pinning Threads

firebird - January 16, 2007 07:11 PM (GMT)
This is something I've been wondering. I think some people skip over pinned threads because they assume they'll mostly be forum guidelines and rules. Once this reaction becomes subconscious, it's more likely that these threads will be skipped over.

Most likely, it's probably ads in webpages: people begin to just blank out and ignore them.

I nulled because statistically speaking, pinning threads will definitely make it more likely that they will get read (since they're on the page permanently as opposed to non-pinned threads or [duh] non-existent ones).

So...you may want to rephrase your question. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what you're trying to ask is "Do you bother to read the pinned threads?"

No, just whether you think pinning them makes them more noticeable or less noticeable to others.

well i voted more, only because it leaves it on the front page..... once one doesnt get posted on here at UCPSB it gets swallowed up by all the other threads so quickly it gets impossible to find.....

Precisely...how can one notice a thread if it's not permanently pinned? I still don't get the question...

I think so. But i also think there are too much stickies. Maybe a stickie having a list to all useful threads would help.

well if you know its there, its easier to get to, so i said no

I normally skim over the pinned thread because I've seen them all before. The new topic are what I look at first. I only go to pinned if I'm bored lol.

For ex: I go to show off your pens more often than post your inserts here because it is right there normally towards the top of the new topics.

Yes. I skip over all the pinned threads because I wouldn't be able to name 5 pinned threads off the top of my head.

if i read one of the stickies, and found it uninteresting, i would kind of ignore it, even if there are new posts...

i dont read stickies unless they are new topics.

this is fine, as long as you know that you can get warned if you post a thread on a subject answered in a sticky.
