i finally got some g3s and i've always wanted a gjh...but i didn't have a jedo and my pentel sharp tip was screwed up, so i improvised. i was also sort of annoyed by the fact that you had to take off the cap to click the pencil, so i made up for that too.
materials needed:
g3
rsvp grip
hgg grip
clicker part of g2
signo or g3 tip
staedtler mechanical pencil - (probably one of the big drawbacks to this mod...who would go buy a geometry set? haha. i looked around staedtler's website, doesn't look like you can buy the pencil itself...)
pros:
don't need to take off the cap to click
balanced
heavy
cons:
need a pencil from a geometry set
short (17.5cm, although this could be a pro for some people)
1) remove grip from g3
2) cut off the part where the tip screws onto the g3
3) sand the 8 bumps on the grip area and the bump at the front of the pen.
4) take out the back plug of the g3
5) take the tip and insides of the pencil out.
6) shove the inside of the pencil into the g3 (the amount of the front part sticking out should be about 0.3 - 0.4cm)
7) add a little glue to the inside of the barrel
8) screw on the tip
9) add glue to the outside
10) put g3/signo tip inside hgg grip
11) slide grip onto g3 and adjust the g3/signo tip until it fits snugly on pencil tip
12) take off the metal end of the pencil (or at least i think it's metal...)
13) glue the two clicker pieces of the g2 together, then glue to the back of the pencil.
14) wrap something around the clicker part, and in the back .5 cm add about 1-3 more layers (i used black tape)
15) cut the rsvp grip to 2cm
16) put rsvp grip on
17) push g3 tip on
18) remove clip from cap and sand bump down
19) remove the small rubber thing inside the cap (what's it called?)
20) wrap some tape around the back of the g3, just enough to make the cap not wobble, but not so much that it doesn't let the cap retract after clicking.
21) slide end portion back on
