Title: When and Why Did You Start Pen Spinning?
Hi_n_r_g - January 29, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
Sorry if this has been done, haven't been on in a little while.
How'd you guys get into penspinning? Like who showed/told you about it. Well for me, my friend was talking to me on AIM, and he told me to check out this video (pendosla's 1st collab) and so I watched it. Needless to say i was all "" so i figured "this is awesome, i gotta learn how to do that." Found out about Pentrix and the UPSB, and the rest is history :).
So what about the rest of you?
xz64 - January 29, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
I read a wikiHow on how to spin a pencil around your thumb.
From there, I learned a whole bunch of tricks

I would say that friends are the greatest influence. There is a poll on PenstudioZ that has been around for a while there.

TurbulentTurtle - January 29, 2006 05:01 AM (GMT)
Searching around on some drumming forums when some kid was talking about doing the infinit (I didn't know what it was called) with a drumstick. He gave a link to Pentrix and then I started to get interested. Bam! It's almost been a year since then.
Ivan the Terrible - January 29, 2006 08:23 AM (GMT)
2 years ago my brother showed me kams superhandz vid, he learned the fingerpass and me to. About 4 months ago i was bored and started searching for it. I founded UPSB but I didnt register what I still regret.

specter290 - May 8, 2006 11:02 PM (GMT)

TurbulentTurtle - May 9, 2006 12:38 AM (GMT)

ok, TV. there's a program I used to watch in thailand about koreans and their "talents"
juggling, magic, eating fire, karate, pen spinning, etc.
one day I finally saw a guy psing.
he's korean so he introduced me to pds. and a great korean pser which I forgot the name
I dont search cuz I have bad english at the time. the word "pen spinning" just didnt come to mind.
a year(?) later I moved to usa and start searching like crazy. :BRAIN: :BRAIN: :BRAIN: yeah just what ur guessing, I found pentrix and kam. :)
with english still under developing, I didnt join upsb. :GLOOMY:

Joshua - May 9, 2006 02:54 AM (GMT)
Someone sent me a video (that was on collegehumor.com) of this japanese infomertial about penspinning. So I looked for more information about it and found the infamous PDS collab. I was hooked ever since.
slickhare - May 9, 2006 03:20 AM (GMT)
i'd been doing fingerpass for years (somehow i just figured out how to do it without seeing anyone do it before, no joke). and then i saw the haduri vid on google video when it was in the popular. "other people do this too?" i thought... found upsb. eventually found ucpsb. the rest is history.
sicxer_ - May 9, 2006 09:32 AM (GMT)
Had been doing TA for 2 years when I saw a thread on psing on a gaming forum. They posted the link to the superhandz video, and someone posted a link to UPSB from there.
sketching - May 9, 2006 09:39 AM (GMT)
I saw the Korean compilation video. I have no idea which one that was, but apparently, everyone who started around the time I did had also seen that video. I just remember that it kicked ass and I wanted to do it too, so I Googled pen tricks, pen spinning, etc... and followed all the directions I could find.
grsbmd - May 9, 2006 12:15 PM (GMT)
Someone posted a link to the haduri video on a forum. Then when I tried to find it later, I stumbled across pentrix.com, then as soon as I found UPSB, it got shut down.
Ivan the Terrible - May 9, 2006 12:59 PM (GMT)
My brother showed me Kams superhandz vid in 5th grade ( now i'm in 8th grade). My brother somehow learned the fingerpass from somewhere (I have no idea where). Then in the start of 7th grade I learned it from him. I was doing the fingerpass for one year and at the end of september 2005 I was bored and searched for pen tricks and pen spinning ( it took me 10 minutes to think of the word spinning). After that I found pentrix and so forward, and I think I could still register on to the UPSB and that time, but I didn't. :

. Well then I learned infinity and some other stuff. Because I wanted to learn the quadruple infinity I searched on the UPSB and that tricks learned stuff in profiles. I saw Eriror knew it and contacted him. Then he showed me this place.
