Title: Announcement Box
Zombo - March 6, 2007 11:11 PM (GMT)
I've added an announcement box at the top of the index page which gives a preview of current happenings, and the leaderboard for PSL and eS.
You can submit news by clicking on the link at the bottom of the box. Not all news will be put up tho (it must be relevant enough).
Let me know if there's any bug with it. Cheers.

Need to fix it up a little bit:
QUOTE
Once you're done, click "Post new topic". It will tell you that the post will be previewed by moderators or something similar to that.
Hopefully it is reviewed and not previewed.
QUOTE
Do not ABUSE the feature, and do not send useless messages. You will get warned for misusing the feature. You may get warned for it.
Do you maybe get warned, or do you definitely get warned?
Other than that, I think News should immediately be posted without review. If it's irrelevant or abuses the feature, then mods can delete it and warn the user. Say for example something suddenly came up and you wanted to post breaking news. If no mods are online to even review it, then it may not go up until the next day.

it's because the feature is a bit of a hack. That's why when you post it says "previewed" but in reality we're reviewing it.
I can't make people write directly into the news box. I don't want the box to become too big either, so we'll only pick the most salient news

Cool! I really like it. It's nice to know what's going on right away on the front page.

I just wonder if the PS League and/or Elite Six deserve being up there. I'm not trying to bash them, but they've been relatively inactive for a while now, no?

...and what better way to promote the league than by doing this?

Threaten to ban members if they don't enter it....
Jay-kay. The Elite Six doesn't run anymore though (?). I guess the League still does, so apologies for my misunderstanding there. I was implying that you could replace the defunct Elite Six with something else more useful. Maybe with the scoreboard of the Sage Cows/Azzuro battle once it begins or something similar...

the strength of this announcement box is that its very flexible. It's just a table, I can make how many rows and sections I want (although the sections would be very small).
But hmm yea, elite six still exists and league does too.
I guess if there's not much movement/interest in both I will find something else to replace it.

I beg to differ... An elite six battle just went up today, there is already another before the end of the month. The league has been having a battle every 2-3 weeks for the past couple of months, which I would hardly call inactive.
Good job Zombo!

On the announcements box it says, "Welcome to the UCPSB".... is it supposed to be like that.... doesnt UCPSB stand for "UCPSB: the Collective Pen Spinning Board"... and you're therefore saying: Welcome to the UCPSB: the Collective Pen Spinning Board".... doesnt quite sound right...
Zombo - March 28, 2007 12:07 AM (GMT)
I thought I fixed that :?
god - March 28, 2007 06:39 AM (GMT)
