Well, I see a lot of collabs and what really turns off a good combo for me is to see a pitifully ugly pen. Than again, at school, I see a bunch of poser penspinners with sexy pens that can't do squat and that looks just as bad. So I dunno, does the pen make the spinner, or does the spinner make the pen??

It's all about the spinner. though the sexiness of a pen is a plus, it is not as awesome as the combo itself.

In other words, i'd rather see someone like Eriror or Bonkura doing a kickass combo with chopsticks than seeing me do my completely crap combos on my MX.

A certain balance of both, but I think the combo is more important.

The pen only matters if it has some really cool feature (like fire/light mod). Otherwise, it's all about the combo. And the uglier the pen, the more impressive the combo is, because usually uglier pens are harder to spin.

It's like comparing a LADA with a Koenigsegg. More beautiful -> more performance.

Skillful spinning makes a good collab, sexy mods just put it over the top. Personally I would rather watch a pro spinner spinning a sexy mod than one spinning an ugly mod.

Hmm... I would rather see a superb combo done with a little ugly stick found in the garden than with a hi-tech super balanced mod with flashing lights and glammer decoration...

The pen is only a tool... You dont hear anyone say "Woaw, look at his sexy shoes" when they see a nice soccertrick... It would actually have been cooler if he could do it barefooted...

One thing I realized, referring to Simån's post, when you see someone with super expensive flashy cleats, you expect them to be of a higher skill level than one with ratty old ones. So perhaps when you first see the flashy cool pen mod you may think the spinner is better than he/ she really is.

Some may think that... definitely it is not me... You see so many newcomers with fancy pens nowadays...
But when I see someone with a plain old pencil, i instantly think "Weis" or something like that...

Flashy combo > flashy pen


...BUT, there is nothing worse than someone who is very skilled makes a video with a pen so plain i cant tell whats going on. Flashy pens help newbies (aka me) understand what exactly is going on a lot easier :)

It used to be that only combos make a difference. But now, with so many different mods, it's no longer the case.

i think clarity + fps is important. thus smoothness and the sexiness of the pen will take effect, if not anything will still look as stupid.

ha at school there are a few people with disgusting looking pens which spin quite well.. jus nid to get pass the awful look and they are actually quite nice to spin with.. therefore combo>pen

I'm the only one that voted for "No matter what, a cooler pen is best" because I imagined like 50cent with a gold pen but he couldn't do shit but I would still like give him a higher score than the 000 if 50cent was trying to get into the Elite Six... you know?

For me its 80% skill and 20% pen. In the end, whats the point of having a really cool pen if you dont know how to spin?

Well it depends on your audience.
For just random people, the pen and the spinner. Mainly because a random person cant tell the difference between a "sonic 34 -> devils sonic -> ta t1" and a fingerpass.

For serious spinners, the combo is always the best. smoothness and spinning ability.

I found that I could easily impress my peers with sonic rise/fall and devils sonic when I had my oh-so-sweet RSVP VX

The spin effect makes everything look much more fluent and amazing

It needs certain balance to look best. Although the combo is a bit more important it still takes some effect of kickass combo if the pen is ugly..

Tbh i dont want to see some guys spinning with a 25 cm pen which is ugly as hell, with 129387128903 grips and 129803791283 caps + tips everywhere

Skills are more important, IMO. I see Pentaenge spin with a few not so nice looking mods, but damn, I'm blazed away.
