Title: Banner For Ucpsb

Zombo - March 14, 2007 04:19 PM (GMT)
Hi, since I don't want to bother Dk-Gamer anymore in making new banners, I'm extending my invitation to everybody!

What I need:

-A banner for every skin
-Must display "UCPSB" somewhere
-May have the UCPSB logo (optional)

I want to replace every banner except DyeVest. The default black banner says "What cool dudes do", but UCPSB is not uber cool anymore, so it needs to go.

Here are the formats for each banner:

-IPB default: 750x111
-UCPSB Default: 750x111
-Angel Touch: 735x111
-Natural Green: 750x111
-MERCAVayne: 800x111
-Santa: 735x111

Note: The dimensions are always 10-15px shorter than what written above! The only way to know if it fits well is to actually test it! So make it the right length, and we'll adjust later.

Credits are always written at bottom of the page. If there's more than 1 entry for each skin, we'll pick the best.

EDIT: DkGamer, post the photoshop file to the UCPSB logos, please.

neXus - March 14, 2007 07:05 PM (GMT)
I'd need the logo.

EDIT :

Forgot to read the edit :S

Zombo - March 14, 2007 09:36 PM (GMT)
I think you can also get it from the videos like Hall of Honor by Dk... not sure

AngryStudent - March 14, 2007 11:46 PM (GMT)
I will go ahead and kick something out, in Flash 8.

Hey guys... I apologize for leaving the banners untouched for such a long time.... it's mainly due to the killer schedule in school last year when i first started out in polytechnic... this has also left me unable to do anymore videos, any more pen spinning, and any more design work for the community and other people...

unfortunately... because of the crash from my two external hard disks... I have lost everything related to design. This include all the videos I've worked on and the banner and logo designs for ucpsb...

However, I managed to dig up a small photoshop file which I managed to find in my labtop that contains the ucpsb logo. What sucks however, is that the layers are merged, therefore effects like outer glow can no longer be adjusted. This also includes stuff like resolution etc. The a4 size copy has been lost from the crash, the copy I am left with is from the videos I've worked on... meaning its only measuring at a paltry 320x240 pixels...

However, if you guys are only using it for the sole purpose of banner making and video productions, I don't think this will pose much of a problem. Another thing about it is that at least the logo is standalone without any background... meaning there are no white stuffs around it [transparent background].

File Location:
http://files.filefront.com/logorar/;6940095;;/fileinfo.html

Just unrar and the file is there...

I will be trying to make some logos if I have the time... since its my school holidays... however I'm still working atm and I'm still building my own portfolio so the chance is unlikely... but I'll try my best if I have the time

Thanks,
Aaron

tell me if you like it

hey dk gamer you do you animate the images .. did you make every frame then just put them together or some other way?

DkGamer - March 18, 2007 10:58 AM (GMT)
remove the logo and change the animated background to red if possible...

for my animations i just use imageready... it can be used to make banners look flashy but sometimes its best to stick to still images...

Zombo - March 18, 2007 12:29 PM (GMT)
I like it, I'll put it on and if you make a better version, I'll just replace it.

edit: the banner is a bit bigger than needed... I forgot to include the margins in my calculations of the size of banners written above!!! Sorry...

Go to the main page and see how much is cut off...

yeah but how did you make your sig for ex.

Zombo - March 18, 2007 10:21 PM (GMT)
look at the left side of the banner on the main page of the forum with santa skin on. You will see how much is cut off.

Here's a Banner... I rendered the Comssa in Cinema 4D myself. I did the Comssa because it was really easy and I don't really know C4D that well. =P

I can take the text off the barrel if you want.

Zombo - March 22, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
what skin does that go to?

Also I don't really like the font of the text, remove the text or change the font.

It's not animated...

Default I guess...

Which text? The background text, barrel text, normal text?

I couldn't think what to animate. <_<

Zombo - March 22, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
But UCPSB v2 <- that text.

As for animation, it could be something as simple as a shift in the glow of the comssa.

Also it must be gif btw.

YourClone - March 22, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
Okay, I'll work on it after school tomorrow, I'm too tired right now... Thanks for the ideas.

it's moving in a straight line, so he could have just moved it and used tween.

>_>

Where's the setting in ImageReady to make it better quality?

Zombo - March 24, 2007 01:56 AM (GMT)
looks good, I'm putting it for UCPSB default.

the glow could be of better quality tho.

PS: Someone please do a banner for Natural Green!

I don't know how to make it better quality while keeping it a gif... I'll post an updated version if I figure it out.

xshadowfire - March 24, 2007 05:43 AM (GMT)
if you're using cs2 it's in the optimized tab, if you still have the default layout it should be in the top right corner

Djf - March 25, 2007 05:25 AM (GMT)
Why does it say but UCPSB v2? i don't get it lol

Eriror - March 25, 2007 08:00 AM (GMT)
Indeed, it's pretty confusing for newcomers.

You look at UCPSB Com-SSA Version 1, but you are at UCPSB Forums V2. I guess that's it, but meh.

Toast - March 25, 2007 02:00 PM (GMT)
ehm..if you are talking about esos bictories, they were black and had white caps.

UCPSB commsas? WTF.

spin~TAP - March 25, 2007 06:13 PM (GMT)
I don't like the new banner. Sorry.

And BTW there needs to be an apostraphe in between m and s of forums.
(Forum's)

xshadowfire - March 25, 2007 09:46 PM (GMT)
no there doesn't.
adding one will change the meaning. unless yourclone intended the other meaning...

Cybrax2 - March 27, 2007 01:18 AM (GMT)
I would prefer .PNG because most .GIF don't come out very well. Animation to most sigs or banner makes it look crappy. Just a suggestion.

Zombo - March 27, 2007 01:26 AM (GMT)
hmm I think animations are nice wel they look good.

dkgamer's sigs are always animated and they look good. same for avatr.

xshadowfire - March 27, 2007 02:56 AM (GMT)
at least it's better than that jpg trash you have in your sig.
meanwhile...
true, png has a better maximum quality than gifs, but can pngs animate?
however, on the other hand, it takes a certain knack to make an animation work. more often than not, web graphics look better non animated.

the way i interpret it, it's the version 2 of ucpsb forums. yes, that's right. it's forums, plural.
and the ... means ... fill in the blank. something comes after. like, "but on the other hand, ucpsb forums v2....etc"

and i have that avatar because i like loli. yum.

UnEmploymentDude - March 27, 2007 07:16 AM (GMT)
Dont use png, even though I love it to death, its transparencies do not work on IE. Therefore making look like crap on most user's PCs.

xshadowfire - March 27, 2007 07:21 AM (GMT)
that's microsoft's fault.
ie7 displays transparency though, although for some reason it renders the pngs as different colors. if you put a png next to a jpg that should be the same color in ie7, for some reason it will look like a different color. there's probably a reason why but i'm too lazy to look it up.

edit: what's wrong with the mercavayne skin? images aren't loading.

I agree the slogan for the default banner doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

You can use the one that Rorix fixed if it's cool with him. I like that one. :)

Zombo - March 27, 2007 04:39 PM (GMT)
rorix's animation doesn't work well either...

Ivan the Terrible - March 27, 2007 07:52 PM (GMT)
The green one is great.

And I don't understand the current banner for default, But UCPSB Forums v2

What is the but for? And also I think the UCPSB Comssa will seem very confusing to newbs as they don't even exist. But the banner isn't really important. What's importnat is the content of the board.
