Judge 1, .ini hax, etc.
Basically, let him do it with a normal Mitsubishi Pencil, and then we'll talk again.

with a normal Michubishi Pencil it's very heavy, i know,
but i's a record no?
neXus - March 20, 2007 12:22 PM (GMT)
Impressive. But not that impressive like sunrise ones.

yes i agree
but it's a record or not?
neXus - March 20, 2007 12:31 PM (GMT)
Isn't grip aviare a brush and not a pen ?
Bobr - March 20, 2007 12:39 PM (GMT)
Very impressive trick. I think thi is the new record.
neXus - March 20, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
Someone give sunrise a Grip Aviaire. I bet he does 20+. :P
firebird - March 20, 2007 03:26 PM (GMT)
Could you YouTube the video?
Edit: Or Daily Motion?
Dark Angel-REX - March 20, 2007 03:27 PM (GMT)
Yea, it was impressive, but i bet he cant do that with Mitsubishi pencil...go sunrise!
Beng - March 20, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)
eh...WOrld Record is World record
kinda impressive
xD
however...SUnrises thumbspins (15.5 and 13.5) and this heavy indexspin with the MItsupencil look more impressive
but 17.5...new world record..and fuck the pen ;)
record is record
you cant say to a high-speed record "but its a Ferrari..give them a Mitsubishi and then we'll see"
Eriror - March 20, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
It's comparing a bicycle to a turbo-diesel engine.
Beng - March 20, 2007 04:13 PM (GMT)
Id say a pen is a pen
jealous?
Eriror - March 20, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
It's a brush, not a pen.
And yep, I'm so jealous.
Ivan the Terrible - March 20, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
Ok now no need for "hateful" comments.
That is pretty cool. It surely does take some skill. And yes it is the world record, but now I would like him to or do it with a mitsubishi pencil or to send Sunrise a Grip Aviare and see if he can beat it.
K4S - March 20, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
Okay, so he used a grip avaire which is a brush for the record? ...and what is a mitsubishi pencil? Previous record set with the mitsubishi pencil?
lefty101 - March 20, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
my personal record is nowhere close
(3.5 spins :ssst: )
NF Alex - March 20, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
Grip Aviaire
Very impressive. And yeah, Sunrise needs to get one of those. Thumbspin with Grip Aviaire is 10x easier than with Mitsubishi pencil. >_>
And Grip Aviaire isn't a damn brush. That's like saying MX is a piece of paper.
ShoeMan - March 20, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
blackhero - March 20, 2007 07:43 PM (GMT)
grip aviare..
i want to try it.. (with the grip in the middle)
looks a little like editing in the beginning.
but i guess its for real..
wow i'm really impressed
Toast - March 20, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
Okay, that was a cool thumbspin, but to many of us in UCPSB, we are not that impressed. Penspinners have never spun "pens" with a grip in the middle since the very beginning. That is when we count records.
Generally, only the FPSB use this kind of mod, so you have to take into consider some things.
We do not spin things with a grip in the middle. That is why sunrises thumbspin impresses us more.
Maybe a record...but as impressive as a record.
But still impressive.

<_<
Wow, even if he has a middle grip, that guy's amazing.
:jawdrop:
Health - March 20, 2007 08:06 PM (GMT)
Toast... While i 100% agree with what you said... That raises a question...
What is every board's... "Pen"? I guess i mean by uniqueness? more than just "The pen most of our members use"
I mean, UPSB's could be anything, given that many of our members have produced quality mods. (Or even just the sexy MX)
We associate Japan with ComSsa's and such, but mayhap they all spin MX's?
I dont know enough about other boards (Although ive lurked here enough to know a few things about us) to answer this question, if it even has an answer >.>
Ontopic, nice TS, though i think the grip makes it easier, i doubt i could do better...
But, i dislike the topic name. "New World Record" ? Im tempted to flame.
If it was "A pretty cool thumbspin" then UCPSB could agree, im sure :)
Flip - March 20, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
This may not be a pen, but couldnt the mitsubishi pencil "techincally" just be a "stick"?
Nice job on the TS, I liked it alot. Very impressive.
Elky - March 20, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah, It's accepted as an objected used for penspinning(as in, a lot of people use it) so this should still count.
Besides if you wanna get technical about it, sunrise's can't be a record either, because it isn't pen spining, it's pencil spinning :)
:hah:
Zombo - March 20, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
let's just say this stands for the absolute "raw" thumbspin record for now. Without considering the details.
If someone ask you what's the most number of rotations someone ever did for a thumbspin, you say this.
If they ask with a pen, you may say something else.
Health - March 20, 2007 08:37 PM (GMT)
Request - Every "World Record" has to be in subdivisions of the pens used.
Bwahahaha >.>
Actually thats a pretty good idea, it'd get people practicing with different pens and stuff, maybe someone should make a table or something, and get people to send in vids when they beat the current record.
I dont think a pencil is just a stick. Just like alot of you dont consider your pen mods to be normal pens. And plenty of you have pens that dont even write... Is that not what a pen is for, at the end of the day? ;)
In Indiana Jones, if Dr Jones senior had reached for a ComSsa instead of his fountain pen, we'd all be speaking german right now.

um...no. and this argument about whether this should count or not is stupid. if that is so easy then let someone else just beat him with the same pen. I mean, what's next, no mods?

Someone missed the sarcasm smiley.
fitzgeraldhimself - March 20, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
Really impressive video--I could not do that.
But remember when sticky spray was banned from american football and other sports because it aided in catching the ball. The grip in the middle helps the "pen" stay/stick on the skin and not fling off like it does with most pens because of the momentum. That is why it was so impressive when sunrise did it with a pencil.
I believe it is a world record though. Send sunrise this pen haha.
PenMod-Erator - March 20, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
wow, eriror. i didn't even recognize you w/ your new avatar and sig.
just goes to tell ya folks, ppl do in fact remember you by your avatar.
Asian Tim - March 20, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
yeah, can someone please upload it somewhere else because i can't view. I'm missing a codec and i'm way too lazy.
Thanks guys.
Sathon - March 20, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
Now ain't that a Daisy!
Very nice performance...I don't really mind about that pen having too much momentum, but saying this is a World Record is just weird. And we have much respect for sunrise (and nhk) here that we don't want to beat them. Yeah, sorry. So, many people are not so impressed with that.
But deep down in the Heart, we still admire you, don't worry. I know you got skillz man it's not from the pen. Even the pen got uber momentum it still take skills to perform that. At least it's not edited...
Congrats :thumb:
pser - March 21, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
i dont think this is fair to sunrise, since tha grip aviare has that grip in the middle. You dont know how easy it is to Ts with grip in middle, because the grip clings to your thumb, and it basically cant fall off. See, in the vid, the pen itself is shanging positions(moving around in circles) and that makes the pen stay on and the grip make the pen stay on ur hand...its unfair to beat sunrise's TS with that thing.
NF Alex - March 21, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Read some of the previous posts. <_<
Actually, we don't really need to send Sunrise a free GA. The things that make it so good for TS are balance, momentum, and the grip in the middle. So all Sunrise has to do is put a small grip in the middle of a Mitsubishi pencil and add tips. Someone tell him to do this. :hah:
TayYH89 - March 21, 2007 02:16 AM (GMT)
Hah, this again brings back to the good ol' debate one what exactly is a pen.
Basically, everyone should agree with me that this pen increases the angular momentum of the pen, and makes it easier to do a longer thumbspin. (ie thumbspin with more spins)
In other words, get him to spin with a pencil, and see how what is the maximum number of spins he can do.
spin~TAP - March 21, 2007 04:18 AM (GMT)
I still cant get the video to load.
I feel that it's a new record, get over the fact its a more momentous pen. Sunrise has every oppurtunity to get a better pen and just because something's harder doesnt mean its better or cancels the other out.

Define "Better".
"More Advantageous" seems more likely >.>
Toast - March 22, 2007 05:48 PM (GMT)
What i want to emphasize is the fact that records that have been set before were not done with a grip in the middle.
People (not going to name names) have only recently began spinning pens with grips in the middle, so you really cannot compare. It is really trying to race a car against a bike.
They are two different records.
Before you guys argue, we're talking about a big change in the pens.
BARREL WITH GRIP IN THE MIDDLE, BARRLE WITHOUT GRIP IN THE MIDDLE.
Other pens, even the dr kt, is even better. Giprs on ends, tips on the ends, its just another mod.
The grip in the middle is an entire new class, so you really cannot compare failry with sunrise, or any other thumbspin done before.
strat1227 - March 23, 2007 12:43 AM (GMT)
well the thing is, i cant do it with a pen, a baton, a brush, or any other damned thing lol... so who am i to day its too "easy" (psh i dont care what you use, its not easy)
anyway, congrats :D
