Description: MUST HAVE!
AlmightyMalachi - March 21, 2007 02:47 AM (GMT)
I was wondering If anyone had any idea how to make a LED commsa or Science MX as we know it. Cause i showed my bud the vid of it. He said he would pay 30$ on spot for it. ANy tutorial links or how to's would be beyond awesome. PEace out
l0stf1r3 - March 21, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
i don't think Mr. LSC posted a tut to make it...
at least, i think Mr. LSC made the LED comssa right?
i forgot
i gotta check

There's a thread on it, but the link doesn't work for the PDS link anymore. I'll hook you up with the link in a sec.

I WILL NOT GIVE UP INTIL SOMEONE POSTS A TUT FOR A LIGHT UP MX!!!11!!11!!
lol that was funny
btw on pds i saw it before u twisted the cap on the back to light it up
K4S - March 22, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
How did the science mx work...twist for light? or click for light?
I could probably come up with something
TurbulentTurtle - March 22, 2007 01:03 PM (GMT)
It worked by twisting the back cap to light it up.
RippDrive - March 22, 2007 02:54 PM (GMT)
Maybe after I learn diodes I will try my hand at a light up pen. And if I succeed I will post a tutorial. The community really needs a tutorial for a light up mod.
neXus - March 22, 2007 03:11 PM (GMT)
Biggest problem : batteries.
K4S - March 22, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)
Ive worked something out...its just a matter of trying to make it work. Gonna be tricky as all hell :(
...if i dont post a product by sunday ive most likely given up
neXus - March 22, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
No there was a video somewhere. The batteries are in the cap afair and you can screw off the "head" of the cap.
Dice - March 22, 2007 08:30 PM (GMT)
whats the point of a light up pen?? :dunno:
neXus - March 22, 2007 08:35 PM (GMT)
sliPrix - March 22, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)
Donk3y made a really cool light-up AMMX i believe..maybe it was an MX. I dont remember exactly how he had the mechanism worked out for turning on the light, so you may want to ask him.

are you serious?
it's so original and hard to get/make.
for some it's like a collectors item for others...
they could spin in the dark?
either way you can show off to your friends =D
fung0wd0d41 - March 22, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
hmm well im working on modding my PSP to have LEDS and stuff and ill probally have a few extra LEDS and resistors lying around i could try doin this with maybe like a switch to turn it on and off we shall see :D
Joshua - March 22, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
I don't mean to ruin the fun - but who spins in the dark so much that they need one of these? I've always looked down on LED pens.
Unless neXus made them. haha

They would spin in the dark because they have one of these.

Collection purposes. Showing off to your friends purposes. Just plain cool purposes.
AlmightyMalachi - March 23, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
led commsa caps would be TEH S*** instead of full light up pen!

i have the design for an led mx and comssa made up (sorta) but there's pretty much a 10% chance of it actually working :banghead:

Freakin hell, some bumpy road down the path of trying to make an LED pen...learned a valuable lesson while making version 1 (red and blue led) which failed:
While red and blue were connected only red would light up and i realized that this is due to each colour operating at opposite ends of the colour spectrum and therefore opposite energies. Since red has the higher wavelength it will rob the batteries of the low energy output totally screwing blue from working in the process. If i do hook up enough batteries, red works but absorbs so much energy that blue is extremely dim....rawr, stuff from school does apply to the real world lolz....version 2 i the making <_<
neXus - March 24, 2007 06:49 AM (GMT)
Blue requires more power than red.
tohxinzhan29 - March 24, 2007 08:30 AM (GMT)
Why Not use glow-in-the-dark stuff? Course it only works in the dark.

eh why dont you use separate batteries?
yea glow in the dark paint thingy may work... but may look dim...
i got a retarded way to make a pen look like it is glowing in the dark. but dont have the required stuff.lol
SeYoon - March 24, 2007 03:34 PM (GMT)
if you want a glow in the dark pen, just get glow in the dark paint, pour it into the barrel, and let the excess paint drain out and presto! glow in the dark pen.
FrozenFire - March 24, 2007 07:07 PM (GMT)
Heh, I got bored and used glow in the dark glue on a pen. It didn't turn out that bad, but it didn't glow for that long since it was from the dollar store. Plus, it looks like crap in the daylight.
K4S - March 24, 2007 07:10 PM (GMT)
Heh...2 separate battery packs...thought about it before, didnt know how to make it work really. Used a different solution instead for v.2
...be sure to check this thread later tonight for my next reply ;)
edit: Product is finished, too lazy to take pics etc. Will post tomorrow

LED DTX rsvp (blue/blue)
LED CX metallic comssa (green/blue)
...bear with my poor pen spinning skills but i cant spin in the dark (thats my excuse and im stickin' with it <_< ). Retractable mechanism to turn light on and off. Inserts are a bitch to get in but its possible (i just used blank inserts). My fingers hurt more than any other mod has done to me before. Difficulty of mod is high enough that it's not a practical public mod.
edit: Multiple lights can be added into the pen (probably up to 5 total). I realize it's certainly no science MX but at this point i dont care lol. This is my last mod for a while since i'm going to focus more on
actual penspinning  ...unless of course i find some new challenging mod to create  :ssst:

You should make a tutorial. That's a really cool LED mod.
strat1227 - March 26, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
seriously.... how much do you want for it....
that pen = teh sex.
n00bp3nsp1nn3r - March 26, 2007 02:58 AM (GMT)
wow. that is tight.
i wish i knew how to mod like that...
overall nice mod.
put a tut!
they should make a brand of light up pens...
wow that'd be the bomb
