Title: Thumbstop Thingie...?
SwiftBolt - April 1, 2007 01:04 AM (GMT)
Ok.. so I've been watching videos of people pen spinning, and I was wondering, when somebody was doing a really fast combo, all of a sudden, they use their thumb to stop it for like a split second and start going again.. I was wondering if there was a name for that, or is it strictly just to keep it balanced?

There arn't names for stopping a pen, but there may be 'stops' inbetween different tricks. A thumbaround to fingerless rev TA has a lag between the tricks, but it's just the way tricks connect w/ each other, so we don't really name the 'stop' inbetween two tricks.

i think he's talking about something to Charge t1 > Fl TA reverse
RandomNewb - April 1, 2007 01:52 AM (GMT)
OR maybe he's talking about Counter TA? :D

@SwiftBolt: can you link to a specific video (or atleast tell us the name) so we can definitely see what you are talking about?

Sounds like neosonic harmonic or a tipped sonic.

My first thought was neosonic harmonic too.

QFT. i agree. i think it's Neosonic harmonic cuz he say liek Thumbstop. forexample, maybe fingerpass, and fingerpass reverse. somepeople use Neosonic harmonic. im one of them
SwiftBolt - April 1, 2007 04:20 PM (GMT)
Um.. it's in Eriror's Callopeia video... an example of it... and I see other people doing it a lot too. It happens at... around 24 seconds.. and 29..
Oh... and I was wondering what the trick was that he used his thumb with at around 1:09 and 1:45.. 1:57 ... o_o... it also happens in the Tokyo Off when winter was spinning
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwNxXrMWSc8Thanks for the help guys.. I appreciate it =]
strat1227 - April 1, 2007 04:56 PM (GMT)
winter does both a tipped sonic, and a charge t1 > FL TA reverse, so im not sure which you're talking about....
is it what happens at from 21~23 seconds in
this video?
is it what happens at about 54~56 seconds in that video?
and if i find a neosonic harmonic vid ill link you to that also.

Strat, your link goes to Zombo's judging system...
Also I think he may mean TA harmonic as that kinda looks like its stopped by the thumb...
Ivan the Terrible - April 1, 2007 06:50 PM (GMT)
I checked Calliopeia.
What you mean is Neosonic.
SwiftBolt - April 1, 2007 07:02 PM (GMT)
Oh ok... so it's a neosonic that goes to the thumb, then hold it there for a split second.. is what I saw? I guess that makes sense...
It's possible to link that to a charge T1 -> FL REV right?
If it is... I'm not really sure how to do the charge T1...
frisbee - April 2, 2007 03:21 AM (GMT)
I think it's a rev charge T1 actually, and its pretty easy to do for just one rotation. Gunman to rev charge t1 to fl rev is like my favorite minicombo, when i do it the charge is kind of fingerless. It goes in the same direction as the gunman & i use the momentum from that along with a hand tilt to get 1 charge rotation, then tilt the hand back up for the fl rev.
edit: maybe its a charge normal t1 its hard for me to tell with the thumb versions
Katto - April 2, 2007 05:36 AM (GMT)
i'm pretty sure he's talking about neosonic > tipped charge > rev neosonic cause it sounds more like a "thumbstop"
btw is that combo the same as tipped sonic?
