Title: Dead Threads

lefty101 - April 5, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
I have noticed quite frequently that a noob will revive old/dead thread.
I think that mods should lock threads one they are two weeks old.
If this takes to much of the mods time they should give a few people power to lock threads.
People could be assigned certain forums to lock.
What do you guys/mods think :dunno:

well what if it was a trick thread or a pen mod thread and you had a question?
what do you do then make a new thread?
i think not! lol

No, mainly because those threads can be used later on. Sometimes reviving is appropriate. Besides I doubt Zombo would want to hand out that ability freely...

Just let us lock them once revived if necessary. I usually PM the person with a friendly warning if I see it done...

I'm okay with reviving threads for a good reason. It can cut down on repetitive threads that may info missing from each other. Keeping specific information in single threads is a good thing.

Reviving threads with useless comments or repetitive quesitions/answers is what should be discouraged. I often close threads that have been needlessly revived. If another thread pops up about the same subject, with new info/question, I'll tend towards merging threads and keeping the merged result open again.

locking all old threads will create even more spam because people will create a new thread instead of reviving!

I'd rather deal with a new post in a old thread than a new thread altogether!

also, i hate locking a good thread that could be contributed later.

If i see a person who revives, i just pm them with a warning, and delete the post.
