Title: Ucpsb Treasure Hunt
Zombo - April 13, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
Help threadAll was well in the island of the UCPSB, the Pen Island, when a box fell from the sky! A closer inspection revealed the box to be a treasure chest! For a typically humdrum community, this was a momentous occurrence. Searching for a keyhole of some sort, they were dismayed to find a 9-character access code. Affixed to the chest was a scroll upon which was scrawled the map and 9 riddles that would lead seekers to the password, unleashing the secrets within. So they set about on separate paths, attempting to decipher clues and become the first person to solve the mystery...Map:

(Clean) Map:
Riddle 1:
Look directly at the treasure box and listen to yourself to find the first answer. [letter]
Riddle 2:
Reverse this place and see where you land. [letter]
Riddle 3:
Another box is locked on the last page of this section. [number]
Riddle 4:
Look at where you are now. Take 11 steps backwards and put your_skills_to_test at the end. The answer will be right in front of your face. [letter]
Riddle 5:
Play by the rules and nobody gets hurt. [symbol]
Riddle 6:
While reading this riddle, a teenager running by you drops a paper. Looking at it, you recognize it from a diary. It reads: [number]
Hint: To solve riddle #6, go in My Control > Board Settings, and set your time zone to "GMT -5 EST" with DST on.Riddle 7:
My wedding anniversary is on this day but for some reason I can't always mark it on the calendar. [letter]
Riddle 8:
One of my math teachers told me life is cumulative. I, on the other hand, preferred to view life as a game. So when I put the two philosophies together, I ended up adding all that is fun and reduced them to the simplest form. [number]
Riddle 9:
Something is not quite right... go back and find the missing piece. [letter]
Rules:1. The access code is only composed of lower case letters, numbers and symbols. All characters can be typed easily on a standard keyboard.
2. Do not reveal answers to the riddles in public.
3. If you figure out the access code, DO NOT SHARE IT.
4. The reward will NOT be announced beforehand.
5. All riddles revolve around the UCPSB (and sometimes beyond), but require no pen spinning knowledge.
6. No time limit.
7. Enjoy!

This is so confusing <_<

each riddle gives a single character.
the map tells you how to use those characters to form the password. Hence why it's a "map".
Djf - April 14, 2007 02:17 PM (GMT)
is it a map or a sudoku.. i came up with ????????? LOL it doesn't work though ;p

the treasure box is the subforum located in the spammer's bin. It's the first thing you see when you open the spammer's bin.

There was a problem with riddle #3. I have fixed it.
If you got confused about that riddle, try again now.
RippDrive - April 14, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
I know I'm probably stretching here but do the extra "/" have anything to do with the puzzle?

|
So when you say treasure box are you referring to the box which contains the link and information about the sub forum at this location
http://z15.invisionfree.com/UCPSB/index.php?showforum=7or do you mean this page
http://z15.invisionfree.com/UCPSB/index.php?showforum=47Which can be considered the treasure box?
firebird - April 14, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
The first one, as it appears on the Spammer's Bin page.
Zombo - April 15, 2007 12:49 AM (GMT)
forum 7 refers to the spammer's bin
forum 47 refers to the treasure box.
From forum 7 you can look at the box from the outside.
Forum 47 would be the inside of the box.
Eburt - April 15, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
Do you have to complete the riddles in consecutive order? Obviously 9 needs to be last, but what about the others?
n00bp3nsp1nn3r - April 15, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)

forget about the map for now; it's only useful when you have all 9 riddles.
@ eburt, it's best to start from 1 to 9.
Zombo - April 15, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
since you guys are so miserable, I've clarified the first riddle and added in [] what type of answer each riddle has.
don't expect another set of hints until at least in a few weeks.
