Title: Underwater Spinning
Description: A bizarre idea I had
sp3ctum - April 23, 2007 11:09 AM (GMT)
Has anyone tried spinning underwater? By underwater I don't mean that you're completely submerged, but only your hand is.
I imagine this could be beneficial if there's a new trick / combo that one's trying to learn since water slows down the pen without making it lose its momentum. Also, issues of lacking grip would also be solved. Or would they?
I don't know what you think, but to me it sounds like a fun idea. I've sometimes spun a pen in the sauna, and there I always get a lot of grip. My fingers also are warm, unlike they usually are. (I'm a cold-handed person)

Its in one of the PS Promo vids too. (I think 4...my fav :P)
I tried it ages ago, with a wooden drumstick, and its ok, except you can only do palm down tricks, and dont expect to do any spins :P (Unless you rule...)
Also, i suppose it wouldnt be good for beginners, tricks such as sonic would require alot more push underwater.

I never knew. :)
Can someone post a link to a video?

@sp3ctum: Have you tried it out? (PS Promo videos) <4?>

The only real tricks that work are like sonic and fingerpass and such. Thumbaround and backaround don't work very well because the water will just push the pen away.

i very much like that idea. takin spinning to the next level i would presume

I dunno, seems a little unpractical to me, having to fill up the sink or whatever just to spin. It could be benefitial for learning new combos and stuff since you could get the feel for the movement of the pen, but then I always just used my other hand to guide the pen whenever I have trouble with the pen movements.

reminds me of de'vo doin XCM underwater and in fire, hey thats an idea why dont we do penspinning with burning torches? :vhappy:
dunno if it would make learning tricks much easier tho.

It's really hard i did it in my bathroom sink and i could barely TA the water will push the pen back, you could in a pool but you will get nowhere near the normal speed of tricks

thats the point  if the pen is slower then you could practice on smoothness
sp3ctum - May 2, 2007 07:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I was thinking maybe it would be possible to hide a pen in your swimming pants, and then take it out in the pool ^^
Sounds pretty odd now that I think about it...
The fire video was nice :D
