Title: Remove Metal Bit On Pencils?

NF Alex - October 31, 2006 11:40 PM (GMT)
I recently got some My First Ticonderogas, and I have been trying to mod them. (Link)

The problem is, the eraser caps are seriously impossible to remove. I have tried removing it with pliers, sawing it off, but none of these methods seem to work. After about an hour of hard work, I ended up destroying 2 caps, a knife, and a finger.

I only have one spare pencil left, so I need a way to safely remove the cap without damaging it.

Any advice?

maybe it will work if you take the eraser out and then use pliers?

I tried taking out the eraser and removing it, didn't work for me.

I actually ended up breaking off the back part of the pencil with part of it still inside the cap. I tried to remove it and succeeded, only I destroyed the cap along the way. >_>

yeah.. those pencils r fukign hell to mod.. >.< any how, i just use a saw or sisscors to cut off the metal part with parts of the pencil still inside it, then i used a nail, and just started prying chunks of wood out, if your gonna do this, make sure u have ALOT of water to wash off your hands, and DONT WEAR WHITE! for god sakes.. do not wear white, it'll fuk up ur shirt for sure.. lol.

I've taken many off.
I just wrap the cap in tissue or something soft then take a pair of pliers and pull just don't squeeze them to hard.

I found a GREAT way to take off the metal eraser part!!! Today, i was bored, so i decide to connect my ticonderoga pencils together, ecept they had trianglear bodies (tri-conderoga) and when connected 3 togeter, (around 60cm) i decided i have made some sort of sin, and it was way too long, and i always hit myself when i try to do infinities so i decided to take it apart again, but what i didnt mention was that i SUPER glued the wooden part of the pencil to the metal part, so when i pulled, the metal part was attatched to the pencil, and i ended up having a perfect mod (2 metal thingys on each side)

SO my advice is: super glue them together, then pull em apart, this way, there will b no damage!! lol.. see? good things do happen to bad ppl. :)

EDIT: I would post a picture of the super long pencil/stick, but it wouldnt fit in my scanner.. LOL

get cheeper pencils. I find staples ones come off even when I don't want them too! (a little glue fixes that)

I just used pliers and it made these bad-looking marks on the metal thing. Is there any other way to get it off without the bad marks?

Take a rubber band, wrap it around the metal part, and pull. It should come off easily.

Though if you happen to be using a Ticonderoga, I suggest giving up and getting a different pencil. :golf:

it took me forever to take the metal piece off of the "my first Ticonderoga" but it was well worth it

Oh...that might be why...
I'm trying to take it off of a "tri-write" Tinconderoga

It has a triangular barrel, and spins pretty well
