Well, as some of you may know I am giving a speech about pen-spinning, and I was wondering what you think I should put in it. I have some ideas of my own already I just want someone elses input.
-People I should mention
-Place I should mention
-Events I should mention
-What tricks should I demonstrate
-Anything else you can think of

Well, you need a good introduction to catch people's attention. Say (in a nerdy voice with a hunched back) "Pen spinning is a really neat hobby" or something like that. Then straighten up and act laid back and make a quick metion that PS isn't nerdy or something and go on to the rest of the speech.

Some things you could talk about are the four fundamental tricks, kam, PDS, PDS UPSB collab, and the world tournament.

if u can find it you should mention the origin, I'm pretty sure its from Japan, demonstrate the charge and cont. thumbarounds...those are usually the ones that get the most crowd effect

As for events, can mention PS gatherings. Another idea is to look at the sub-forums at this board and those will help you break down PS. Maybe add in a few jokes so the class doesn't get bored.

I would demonstrate the sonic rise or backfall because people are most impressed by the two (well atleast to my knowledge)

don't forget to mention the types of mods that we use. Like the Comssa; RSVP MX, AMMX; Dr. KT; etc.

My good friend GizzardSmack once gave a 7 minute speech about pen spinning at a debate tournament, cuz he knew NOTHING about what his real topic was..... his real topic was like effects of Darfur on world economy or something.... the judge didnt know what to do lol.....

what type of speech are you giving? is it to PS'ers, or non PS'ers?

That makes me wish I had stuck with debate, but after the first two meetings I said fuck that.

Try to make them know we got skills from practice, not from uber long stick.

For some reason all my friends think the coolest trick is extended infinity--maybe try that on them.

probably the coolest thing happened in speech today
we were in the library researching out topics and shes like scott you have to change your topic theres isnt enough sources i had a person do it last semester and he failed it
little did she know i was holding his speech in my hand which he happened to get a b on
and i was like oh really.
i have his speech right here and he got a B on it
and you just completely made up that story for no reason why would you do that
and shes like well i actually had a couple people do that topic
and i was like ok yeah right
everyone in my school that can spin and would actually be interested in it enough to give a speech about it are friends with me
and i asked my friend about it and he said there was only 2 speech classes first semester and he knows everyone in both of em and he is for sure that he is the only one that did pen spinning
and then i showed her about 30 different pen spinning sites
