Title: Hole In Back Plug?
MRavioli - May 1, 2007 09:12 PM (GMT)
I want my mods to write but i cant get the refill to go through the end cap
how do i do it without using drills or candles?
ShortAssassin - May 1, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
Hmm, odd that you don't have a drill around. But anyway, I suppose you could try to just poke something through it or maybe carve it out with the tip of a knife.
frisbee - May 1, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
Poke through the center w a thumbtack (one of these:
http://media.bimedia.net/designimages/pushpin_300.jpg). Once you have a hole stick the end of a steak knife or pair of scissors & carve til your hole is big enough.
unknownazn - May 1, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
a thin screwdriver will work 2
shuya - May 1, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
i use a screwdriver and a swiss army knife

i use either a nail or a thin screwdriver.
try to get the hole as close to exactly the right size as possible. it helps keep the ink tube from rattling as you spin it.
uglymoose89 - May 2, 2007 12:35 AM (GMT)
I've tried using a crab fork thingy. It's really thin and used for trying to pick out the crap meat. Or you could heat up a needle and literally melt through the plastic at the end. Be careful though, you have to be steady when you do it so that the needle doesn't melt the plastic in a funny shape.

platypusvictim9 - May 2, 2007 04:15 AM (GMT)
I just stap a thumbtack in it and widen the hole with scissors or these tweezers that I have.
M ROMANOV - May 2, 2007 05:25 AM (GMT)
get a skinny metalic object, then burn it really hot. it will cut through the plastic amazingly well. like ehh.... a hot knife. and yes, maybe even through butter. i should tm that. [tm]

It is hard trying with
paper clip, use this:

Is this called a cloth clip?
Edit: Then the cloth hanger (as UnEmploymentDude says), use a little piece from it. Expose to heat, and then insert, pull, and second time insert. It must have appropiate temperature, remember.
@UnEmploymentDude: Didnt think on using a nail!
UnEmploymentDude - May 2, 2007 07:10 AM (GMT)
Cloths hanger my man.
And Just use a nail.

Use sissors. it works. that's what i always do
Use the pointly part of the sissor to poke it. not cutting. poking
RippDrive - May 2, 2007 03:59 PM (GMT)
I use a dremel, a drill would be good too if you have the right size bit. If you only have smaller bits make a small hole and then use the spinning bit to shave off from the inside, if all your bits are too large then too bad.
Ivan the Terrible - May 2, 2007 04:40 PM (GMT)
I first carve like a small hole with a knife and then poke a hole threw with a thin screwdriver.
pen_spinnin_newb - May 28, 2007 10:32 AM (GMT)
mmmk...simple... paperclip+candle= Red metal that will burn almost anything... STICK AND IN AND SWIRL IT AROUND TILL YOU SATISFIED!
Webo_Splash90210 - May 28, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
What I used to do was to get another pen and use the tip to jam the shit until it makes a hole. Other than that, use a nail and a hammer or a screwdriver.
TLDScorp - May 28, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
The way i found to be more exact and consistantly accurate is i took one of those thin metal nail filers with the sharp point. I drill a little in the top and bottom so the holes atleast touch on both sides. Then i take a thin screw and turn it with my hands so it dont go to much. Then i use a bigger screw and do the same thing. Then i take a METAL COMPASS, which, im pretty sure, has just about the same diameter as the pen tip, and shove it through the hole back and forth to make it as circle as possible, and perfectly sized.
Cybrax2 - May 28, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
Use a thumbtack and poke a hole until it can't get any larger.
Then use a giant needle about 1.5-2mm wide and enlarge the hole by inserting the needle under the cap and through the hole.
Tainted Elements - May 28, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
hammer + nail driving into the center of the cap = good, yes
neXus - May 28, 2007 08:23 PM (GMT)
I just use a nail scissor to make a basic hole and then use a thin screwdriver to widen the hole.
patrick - May 29, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)

That's the professional way

Same here. Except I use a metal fork instead of a screw driver.

YOu could barely see it. BUt that's a good idea
manjodabanjo - May 31, 2007 02:54 AM (GMT)
are you seriously asking this, who cares about a damn hole in the cap just try poking it with anything thats sharp

The dude wants to know whats one of the easy ways. The word "sharp" is too general. To me, you're saying that a sharpened pencil can make a nice hole
manjodabanjo - May 31, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
jesus crist! you can even use a kitchen knife for the job, u could use common sense, i'm trying to say its not a question worth asking
ShortAssassin - May 31, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
He doesn't wanna fuck up a pen, what's wrong with that?
manjodabanjo - May 31, 2007 03:04 AM (GMT)
nothin im just saying you could use your common sense and judgement to figure out that answer
ShortAssassin - May 31, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
On Topic: I didn't realize you said you didn't have access to a drill. One of my good friends says he just uses a hammer and a nail and that it works for him. Just make sure you have the right size nail :)
Off Topic: Manjo, common sense and judgment should have told you that some people like spinning retractable pens and some don't, yet you made a thread about it anyway...
manjodabanjo - May 31, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
off topic- yes short i was try to find out why other people didnt like them and people who did like them, why did they like them

:stfu: :stfu: :stfu: stop pms-ing lol... calm down, the guy wants to know something, there is no restriction on asking something you feel is important... and besides, without a hole in the cap, it wouldnt be able to write, and thus it wouldnt be a real/full mx..(or whatever it is he is making)

If you're new to psing, then obviously, you'd want to know the easiest way
manjodabanjo - May 31, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
i've known him for 7 years he isn't knew to psing hes been messing with rspvs for a while
Webo Splash - May 31, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
and yet you still make a new thread? Even though you're new? Sorry but that's retarded

Get yourself a decent x-acto knife and some spare blades. It solves SO MANY problems with pen modding.
Poke a hole in a back plug?
-- Use an x-acto knife.
Trim down a broken clip?
-- Use an x-acto knife.
Trim off any other excess plastic?
-- Use an x-acto knife.
Cut grips?
-- Use an x-acto knife.
Cut ink tubes?
-- Use an x-acto knife.
Cut a pen barrel?
-- Use an x-acto knife.
Pry off a BIC back plug?
-- Use an x-acto knife.
It may not always be the most effecient way to do things, but it will always work.

DUDE BE A MAN BITE A HOLE WITH YOUR TEETH
haha jkjk
but i use a screwdriver and a push pin. it takes a while but it works.
if you have a hammer and a good screwdriver/nail that'll work too.
