Title: Not Liking Retractables?
manjodabanjo - May 2, 2007 03:52 AM (GMT)
is it me or does anybodyelse not like retractables i cant stand retractable for some reason
K4S - May 2, 2007 03:55 AM (GMT)
They're good for school and when you actually have to use pens to write lol. That way you have something decent to spin as you write. Otherwise i agree...i hate spinning retractable pens if i can help it.
manjodabanjo - May 2, 2007 04:01 AM (GMT)
yea and ur mods are really tight
platypusvictim9 - May 2, 2007 04:04 AM (GMT)
Yea they're good for school, but I don't think anybody uses a retractable as they're main pen. Recently I made a spinmatic and it owns B)
JMember - May 2, 2007 06:22 AM (GMT)
Just dont use them if you dont like to. It is about liking or what you think about them.
Use Grammar please.
Dark Angel-REX - May 2, 2007 09:22 AM (GMT)
I rarely use retractable mods. but i do use mechanical pencil mod i made (lakubo MMX MP) it pwns...even though i made it.
n00bp3nsp1nn3r - May 2, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)
dude, there are so many retractables out there that are awesome...
well.. that's my opinion..
for example:
dr1v3th3bu535 (sry if i spelt it wrong)- comssa retr v2 <--- that rocks
mikos hybrid retractable
there are probably alot more but just not at the top of my head
but certain ppl have certain opinions.
so yea

i do, i use a comssa retr v1 metallic and i like it more then every other comssa i own
ShortAssassin - May 2, 2007 11:04 PM (GMT)
At one point I really liked my Monami 153 MX, but I've recently just started writing with G2s and spinning an MX/Comssa at school. It's not too much of an inconvience to have to pick up another pen lol.
l0stf1r3 - May 2, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
there's nothing wrong with spinning retractables, unless you have one that makes noise. that's why i don't spin that many retractables
frisbee - May 2, 2007 11:47 PM (GMT)
I dont really want people to know about my mods so i just bring dr.grip & monami 153 mx as my pencil and pen. Monami spins fine and i do most of my practice in class so it helps me out by making it harder so if I come home im that much smoother with MX or comssa or whatever. Dr Grip is hard for me to spin but i can do passes & twisted sonics really easily with it so its fun to play with during tests. Both are retractable (sorta) and theyre like my favorite pens
zepiroth76 - May 3, 2007 12:06 AM (GMT)
I'll only spin a retractable if it makes little to no noise. I like spinning my HG3R
Pierre - May 3, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
Theres one retractable mod the I LOVE spinning. And thats the retractable comssa V2. I love it so much, I'd rather spin that instead of a normal comssa metallic. Mine doesn't even make any noise for some reason.
sketching - May 3, 2007 01:48 AM (GMT)
I always carry my black ink RSVG2 mod with me along with my Comssa Mod.
The RSVG2 is used for writing in my
GTD Moleskine and easy spinning in classes. I removed the plastic bit that the clip connects to and moved the RSVP cap down more. The mod is smaller than the original, but more stable for storage in my pocket.
Dr1v37h38u5 - May 3, 2007 02:42 AM (GMT)
i'm not saying this in a boasting way, but of all retractable mods i have made and spun, the Comssa Retr. V2 is the best.
if you make it correctly, there is very little noise, often none at all, and it is very solid.
the downside is that it is incredibly hard to make perfectly. incredibly. every so often i have to tweak a part here and there. this doesn't bother me that much since i enjoy the challenge of keeping the pen in top condition. i just don't like it when i take it apart, far away from home, and end up breaking/ruining a part by being stupid. if i leave it as is, it stays pretty much in great spinning condition. the reason i keep messing with it is because of my OCD-ish attention to details. When i see that the rear HGG tip is sticking slightly farther out than the other tip, i take it apart and try to correct it. Also, the slight gapping between the bic clic part and the comssa barrel bugs me terribly.
so, if you mod it perfectly or don't really care about minor cosmetic details, and you like spinning metallic comssa's, the Comssa Retr. V2 is for you!

yea thats what i did and it works really great. The rsvp cap even snaps onto the back of the g2 like a normal pen! Its like they were built for each other..
zchao93* - May 4, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
i dont like retractables because i like good writing pens. usually ppl use rsvp inks for the retractable and it sux to write with it. my friend made a retractable with gel ink but if u dropped it too much the ink will explode-_-. a lot of them are pretty sweet but basicly i hate spinning retractables
fuzzyshan - May 4, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
its only very recently when i have stopped spinning a G-2 now i spin a g-1 lol
personally i like retractables they make spinning and writing at intervals a lot easier at school.
JMember - May 4, 2007 10:37 PM (GMT)
For spinning it should not be very good. When you let it fall too much times, the ink will just spread, isnt it?

i learnt to spin with my g-2 and i dropped it loads of time but i never had a problem with the ink spreading.

oshizitsrohiz - May 5, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)

I think it's pretty damn funny that Jmember told you to use correct grammar when english isn't even his primary language. It's not wise to tell people to use correct grammar when your own grammar is lacking.
Anyway, Zchao93 brings up a good point, if you drop your pen a lot theres a good chance that inktube might leak or explode. Of course if you're good at spinning and dont drop your pen all the time then you're golden :P
Webo_Splash90210 - May 6, 2007 01:39 AM (GMT)
Retractables are the SHizzle guys. Seriously. When I'm at school, I usually have an MX when I write. What's the use of writing if you cant spin with it at the same time. If you're lazy like me, and can't put the cap on and off constantly between note taking, then RETRACTABLES are your best friend. B)
AlmightyMalachi - May 6, 2007 04:29 AM (GMT)
I can't stand retractables..i love my G2 for writing/and Dr. Grip...but having a spinner...they're way too complicated to make, if your truly a spinner you'll be writing with your right hand and spin with your left at the same time...like me :spin: or vice versa
JMember - May 6, 2007 04:55 AM (GMT)
AlmightyMalachi, I must try your idea out, didnt think about it. I can do some stuff like ThumbAround, Sonic, and Infinity with the left hand, but I must practice more for not being defeated.
Katto d(^.^)z - May 6, 2007 05:13 AM (GMT)
im not too fond of retractables either prolly because i've never made one correctly >.>
what's wrong with taking off a cap before writing? it takes like 2 secs
frisbee - May 6, 2007 05:20 AM (GMT)
It sucks when, for example, you're taking notes & you need to uncap & recap every 30 seconds to a minute. You might say stop spinning, but to the truly addicted, how many tricks can I do in 30 seconds? way too many to stop spinning...
Get a monami 153! So easy to make the retract mod, & so good for school!
JMember - May 6, 2007 05:32 AM (GMT)
Off topic:
For me it takes less, like 1 second and something. I am not lazy for taking it off, I use R.S.V.P. MXs and that is the only modification I have ever made.
A trick combo for taking the cap off and putting it on (correct me if I have used an incorrect word):
-Taking cap off (for a R.S.V.P. MX):
*When you have the pen between 12, do Sonic reverse > Twisted Sonic, take the cap, put the cap at the beginning
(continued, need to restart my computer)
