Lately, my mind's been kinda lost because I can't figure out several things...

First, I don't know if I want to start collecting all these pens... Pens like HGGs, Dong-A sign pens, etc. If I do, then what's the point? I don't know if I would do it just to have it or would I actually use them. And if I do start collecting them, I don't know if I want to buy in bulk or not. I figure it would be cheaper to do it in bulk, but I would have a lot of pens in stock. For now, I think having a lot of extra pens wouldn't do any harm, other than to my wallet.

Another thing I've been wandering on about is whether or not I want to actually start making UCPSB promotional pens and give them away for free. Originally, I wanted to do the whole "Bicssa" thing and actually customize the barrels and such. However, I think a lot of people don't like Bictories... And then there's the insert idea for MXs, since I like to make MXs (I think my craftsmanship is pretty good...), but that idea is kind of played out. So I'm not really sure what to do here... I'm pretty sure I would go on with this idea though. So far, the customized Bictories seems like a pretty cool and affordable idea.

I don't think you should buy in bulk yet. I bought like 30 RSVPS and still have 20 spare ones... kinda wasteful..

On pens for yourself:
I have a fair few pens, modded and unmodded. Most I will not use unless my main pens are lost somehow. I keep them just in case they come in handy and every once in a while I spin them. I'll admit that I've wasted plenty of money on mods so that I can try them out. You never know if a new mod might be better than what you have. On the other hand, I doubt that I'll find anything more comfortable over the long run than the MX. I'm currently stocked up on the necessary supplies to last me a long time. :D
In your case, it may be better to find someone who you can trade with for a pre-made mod. You can try out something new, while helping someone else with their own modding. Even if you don't use the mod, you can always then trade it away with someone else to get pens for mods that you know you will use. I also doubt that a new-comers will care too much about trading for a used mod in order to try it out.
In the end, you should seriously take your time thinking about anything that you are unsure of. Even though this hobby (or obsession :)) of ours may seem cheap at first, it can still take away a lot of money when it comes to pens. Modding is a great aspect of the hobby, but being happy with the actual spinning is the main point. It can also cost very little if you already have a mod(s) that you are comfortable with, there is no real need to try everything else out there.

On buying bulk:
Unless you already know that the bulk pens will be of use, I wouldn't do it. Wait until you hear from others and are more confident that it will not be a waste.

On promotional BICtories:
From the last few months, it seems to me that there are plenty of people who would be happy to recieve a custom BICtory mod. It may not be the prime choice, but that mod still seems to be going fairly strong. :)

On promotional RSVP MXs:
I have a feeling that there will always be people who would like a custom RSVP MX too, you can see from the Trading Partners thread and various comments that there are also people who still cannot get local access to RSVPs, and want them. If you do a decent job of customizing, there will definitely be greatful members waiting to get a hold of them.

I think I slept on the problem and figured that I'll only buy what I need, since that was my original stance on the whole thing. In the meantime, I pretty much have everything I need since I have 5 mods already, and none have broken yet.

I played with the idea of trying out new mods, but that went away quickly cause I don't really need to be spending all that time and money just to try out new stuff.

As for the promotional pens idea, I'll probably do that later. I did some research and all of the places that do screen printing on Bic round stic pens require a 500 minimum as well as some extra fees, so we're talking about $210+. 500 pens is quite a lot of pens, so again, I don't know if there will be enough people that wants one. And if I do go through with the idea, I will NOT be supplying grips. :P :lol: Just way too expensive for me, and these pens are going to be free! I CAN afford the price for these pens if I work for maybe 1 week and not use the money. It's definitely do-able. Just the feasibility of it all is what's keeping me from doing it. Besides, would people who already have the BICssa want one too? I know Mrville has one already and I have one... kinda. I personally would like one just cause it has all of the necessary parts.
Another question is how many would each person like?


As for the custom RSVP MX idea, you got a point sketching. I'm thinking what if people who have access to HGGs send me one HGG and I will make a RSVP MX for them and send it to them. That way it could save me money on the HGGs and I'll be doing the modding for them! What would people think of that idea?
However, there will be people who don't have access to HGGs so I'm not sure what to do for them... :GLOOMY:

like ive said in the beginners FAQ, when you start collecting rare pens and start modding, its an addiction. you cant stop. haha you shoulda saw my drawer when i use to spin nonstop....a drawer about the size of 2 keyboards, and about 4 in. deep FULL of pens....every pen you can think of


but if we do promo pens, i think the best way is to do either RSVPs or BICs cuz i noticed on comssas the writing comes off fast...but i did research on rsvps before on the pentel site and it didnt look TOO expensive...still expensive but i dunno....look it up on ebay too, i noticed that you can buy rsvps in bulk, maybe they do custom writings on them too

Well, for RSVPs, I'm not going to buy in bulk, at least I don't think so... Even if I were to, I wouldn't want to write anything on the barrel cause it tends to get rubbed off easily (I put my pens in my jeans pocket).

the gold writing is a bitch to take off i know that, the silver writing is the one thats easy to take off

i've actually considered getting custom pens. i'm not a big fan of bics....but i might consider it in the future.

I was thinking of making some Custom printed RSVPs for mods myself but its way too expensive for me. I think the whole UCPSB pen thing is a good idea. The Custom MXs would be nice 2 but its hard for some people to find HGGS. Like I can find RSVPs no problem ( I think i have like 13 or so left), but finding an HGG is like finding a needle in the haystack for me. I could order it online but I don't have paypal or a credit card that is mine. My mom would have to and she doesn't like to... pitty realy.

If I were to really do the RSVP MX idea, I wonder what I can do to make it unique? It's kinda hard considering the many mods out there... I'll think of something. :HMMM:

Ok, I just got back from downtown and visited some places that do screen printing. One had a 500 minimum for 47 cents a pen so that's not much better than the ones you find online. Then the other place doesn't do pens.

niket, I am seriously going to look into that eBay store.

So hopefully I should have enough money to do this by midsummer. If I get 500 pens initially, that makes 250 available Bictorys with 250 left over barrels. Would you guys like both the mod and the left over part or just the mod? I'm thinking that black barrels are hard to come by, and ones that have "UCPSB" written on it would be valuable... So what do you guys think?


Also, I'm thinking what kind of writing should be on the barrel? I was thinking just the words UCPSB in a similar font as the one up at the top (scroll up, yo!). Any other suggestions?

I would be okay just getting the un-modded BICs and making the mod myself. Otherwise, I'll take the left-over barrel along with the mod.

Well, on Bictories...

Being the maker of the original "Bic-Ssa" mod, I know how popular it is from all the PMs I've been receiving requesting for trades. Since I only have one, I always decline - even though I don't spin it, I like to keep it for...sentimental value, if you will. I think it would be a great idea to customize black and white bics, with a UCPSB logo on it. Although not many people will spin it, many people would be happy to have one, just because they're cool.

Anyway, I used to buy pens every chance I had, and was always trying out new mods and stuff. But lately that's slowed down. I've found the perfect mod for myself, so I don't really need to keep buying more pens. Collecting and inventing was fun though.

You'd only be getting the left over black barrel. The white caps would have been used up on the mods.

Good news guys. Thanks to niket for that link, I will be going to them for the pens. I should have the money available soon. I'll have to budget my money, then I can give you guys a definite date.

As for shipping details, well, for now I've decided I'll be doing what Mr. LSC is doing for those Comssa caps. For the USA peeps, I'll go by city. Example, I'll ship one bulk package for Troy, one for San Diego, one for Minnesota (wherever Randomnewb lives). If there are no other spinners near you and you want some pens, I MIGHT go out on a limb and send you the pens but it would be great if you could help me out or something. This could get pretty expensive.

As for the foreigners, same deal. I will send to one person in each country and they will be in charge of sending out the pens to their people.
