Please keep in mind as you read this that I haven't put a lot of time into it and am merely trying to help create a more accurate judging system, not discredit any other judging system, etc.
Here is my basic idea. The system is very similar to Zombo's but uses 1 extra category and changed the weighting of the categories. The system uses 7 categories:
Difficulty
Speed
Smoothness
Variety
Creativity
Filming
Pen
The only unfamiliar category here should be pen. With the recent discussion of long vs short pens, heavy vs light pens etc, and the point made in the most recent ES battle regarding whether or not the 000 could do the combo using LBs pen, I felt that this category was necessary.
Now, the other difference, is the weighting of the categories. For example, I don't think that Filming is as important as Smoothness, and I think it's unfair that Spinner X can get +1 for Smoothness over Spinner Y, but lose all of that by getting a -1 in Filming just because his camera isn't as good. Now, the weighting I'm going to propose will need to be adjusted, for I don't think I'm a very good judge when it comes to videos, and may rank certain categories as more/less important than they actually are.
Difficulty: +/- 5, This allows for more flexibility and rates difficulty higher than some of the other categories. DO NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE PEN USED IN THIS CATEGORY, THIS SHOULD BE JUDGED SOLELY ON THE BREAKDOWN.
Speed: +/- 5, Obviously, judge on how well the speed fit the combo, not just by how fast/slow the combo it.
Smoothness: +/- 5
Variety: +/- 4
Creativity: +/- 4
Filming: +/- 2
Pen: +/- 2, This should be a static value for all judges, so that personal grudges against a pen cannot be a factor. Perhaps each pen should be given a +/- value.
With this system, someone who kicks the others ass in Difficulty and scores a 5, for example, won't be able to have those points nullified because their camera sucks.
Note: THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION. I'M NOT SAYING IT SHOULD BE USED, IM JUST PUTTING THE IDEA OUT THERE FOR OTHERS TO CONSIDER AND REFINE BETTER THAN I CAN. Please keep the flames to a minimum :).
I think the "pen" category isnt needed.... it's just integrated into difficulty ect.

so basically its just a modification of my system...
luckily my system is flexible to incorporate any kind of change (even the +/- range)! so all you're proposing is a different version of my system :P In fact I was even once considering, letting the battlers decide their own weighting themselves. Or if you made a "speed" combo for example, you would make it weight more.
What I posted is merely "default values". We can change those any time, I like to make things flexible :)
However if you're posting it here, I'm assuming you propose a change to the values to suit the Battle Zone, and NOT a change to the default values themselves.
