Title: UK Pens?

Curious - April 8, 2006 10:38 PM (GMT)
We folks here in the UK dont have access to RSVPS, unless we want to get ripped off on eBay with crazy shipping rates.

I was just wondering whether there were any other UK pen spinners, and what they use, how they mod it, and where they buy it from?

I doubt many Americans have heard of Woolies or WHSmith etc.

Help appreciated

Dom

Curious - April 8, 2006 10:55 PM (GMT)
Hate to sound like a noob but...

Whats a HGG (except for a type of pen) make? Hybrid Gel Grip springs to mind.

Yeh, i guess i do have a british accent, but its not an accent to me :P

Sathon - April 8, 2006 10:56 PM (GMT)
You're right. HGG = Hybrid Gel Grip

Curious - April 8, 2006 10:58 PM (GMT)
England has HGG's, Im probably going to buy a load tomorrow now.

Great. :D

u can make rsvp mx's with them they're one of the most popular pens rsvp mx's are pretty heavy and they're pretty long just glue the tip to the tip of the rsvp and add the grip

xz64 - April 8, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
and add the rsvp grip inside the cap
if you got a pack of loose capped rsvps (manufacturing variance), you can just put the rsvp grip inside the cap and push into the back cap of the rsvp

u can use hot water or alchohal. they both work.

Curious - April 9, 2006 09:04 AM (GMT)
Im gonna look so weird shopping for about 10 mins in the pen section for HGG's and G2s (Hopefully)

If i see any cool colours Ill buy them up and see if anyone might trade across the pond for some elusive RSVPS.

Thanks for the help

I second that. HGG2 is a very good pen.
IMO better than an RSVP MX

if you guys have a G2 you're lucky

I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to find some trades for RSVPs if you trade your HGGs. I know that I'm usually looking for black ones. It's just that a bunch of us here in North America don't have access to them.

Update!

This is what one of the stores had:

Black HGGs, Blue HGGs loads of HGGs basically.

Is the g-2 a Pilot G2? as i bought 2 of these, and they are retractable, i wasnt sure, but they had G1's aswell

They also had the usual, Bics, papermates, Uniballs etc

xz64 - April 9, 2006 04:24 PM (GMT)
g-2 Is a Pilot G2. Yes, they are retractable.
When you are ready, post your offers in the Pen Trading Partners thread.

(p.s. whats the difference between g-2 07 and g-2 05 (they aren't mechanical pencils))

InhumanElmo - April 9, 2006 04:25 PM (GMT)
G2s are Pilot G2s. Yeah you bought the right ones. Im seriously going to fly to the UK or somewhere and buy a load of HGGs. How much did they cost?
And the difference between 07 and 05 is the barrel and size of the tip. 0.7 are 0.7 tips and the barrel have a tint to them. 0.5 are 0.5 tip (extra fine) and the barrels are clear. 0.5 are the best if your going to make an MMX, if you want your insert to be shown clearly.

Curious - April 9, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
The HGGs were about £2.75 for a pack of 4, thats about.... $6? (Very rough estimate)

Im *Trying* to make a HGG2 now, but this click end just wont come off...

U can also trade for comssa that's a good pen

Curious - April 9, 2006 07:56 PM (GMT)
Well, if HGG's are in demand THAT much, Ill put up a notice in the trades next time i see a load on offer and Tesco (English Wal*mart) or something, i might even order a bulk load with VIking.

This G2 clip bit is coming off bit by bit..

Curious - April 9, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
FINALLY- Its taken a good 90 minutes of work to get it done

I have a HGG2, and guess what?

I dont like it that much

Its ok, but i like heavier pens

Oh well, ill keep psing with it, see hwo it goes (its quite long)

Thanks for help, and ill see what i can do about some HGGs

InhumanElmo - April 9, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
Listen, if you get about 100 HGGs, you can trade for any pen you want. HGGs are in hugh demand in the U.S. One of my teachers had one, and I almost had a heart attack. People thought I was weird because I was gonna trade or buy the pen off the teacher... she didn't go for it :GLOOMY:

bhavin - May 7, 2006 10:56 AM (GMT)
Get 2 pencils and mod away! im a student and its perfect, costs 50p at very most. Just perfect...

elliot - May 7, 2006 02:29 PM (GMT)
eBay store - Whole777

That is where I get my RSVPs from (i'm from UK too). inlcuding shipping to europe, 6 RSVPs are about £4.30, which isn't too bad.

What shop did you find all of those pens? And Where do you live? I could only find some HGGs (and some Pentel USA pens, but not RSVPs) in WHSmiths.

When modding an RSVP, I prefer to use a Zebra Jimnie grip and for the metal tip, I find that the weight provided by a Uniball Signo UM-100 gel pen is far better (about 2-2.5 times heavier).
