Title: The Sponsorship With Jetpens Info
Description: The full info/feedback
strat1227 - June 17, 2007 02:19 AM (GMT)
JETPENS.COMOk, I'd like to know what everyone thinks about this... here's the info on it:
What we get:
- UCPSB Pens
- More UCPSB Products in the future (look for wristbands soon)
- 10% of ALL Jetpens.com income (not just on UCPSB products)
What we have to do:
- Add a banner/link to the homepage of UCPSB
- Participate in events sponsered by Jetpens (tournies, ect (we have to make it worth their while to host them, but there's no commitment there))
UCPSB RSVPsJetpens CollabJetpens RequestsSo, what do you think? Good idea? Bad idea?
MikeN - June 17, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
You should have made a poll...
But I think it's a good idea

I don't understand the second part of your post.
Make a banner? On what, JetPen's homepage? Does'nt that benefit us, not jetpens?
And also, what do you mean by tournies? Pen spinning tournaments? How does the help and promote Jeptpens?
Even so, where does the 10% profit go to?
Rorix - June 17, 2007 02:36 AM (GMT)
I think he means add a banner to jetpens on ucpsb
Zombo - June 17, 2007 02:43 AM (GMT)
10% profit goes to the UCPSB administrative staff.
Rorix - June 17, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
Who looks after the money.
Zombo - June 17, 2007 02:52 AM (GMT)
the money is stored in jetpens, and strat will be withdrawing that money when we need it, we keep balance ourself so that we know exactly how much we have.

yes pen spinning tournaments.
Jetpens will be hosting them/running them, thats how it will promote them...

if you have more questions, ask.

Yeah, it seems like 1% would be more than enough to cover 1st, second & third place in tournaments, with a good prize too for each, too...
faulk - June 17, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
So are other sponsors like PDS going to be participating in this 'tournament'?
Personally I think penwish is more responsive to our wants/needs, havn't seen that jetpens representative on at all . <_<
Zombo - June 17, 2007 03:59 AM (GMT)
strat1227 is the jetpens representant....
how is PDS a sponsor a UCPSB?

"JetPens is PenDolSa's exclusive US partner and purveyor of goods."
Since PDS is working with Jetpens too, is it going to be a tournament with PDS spinners too, or just UCPSB guys.
And by the jetpens representative, i was talking about that sephiroth guy..

yea, i think that seperoth person or whatever was fake... i tlak to the owner of jetpens every day, and i have no idea who that was.....
the tournament is open for everybody, but they encourage especially people from UCPSB to participate.
faulk - June 17, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
Harhar, yea I was pretty skeptical of that person, considering a representative usually has a more official name than "darksephiroth"

VOTE : Good idea
I only think this can strengthen our relationship with Jetpens.com. I mean, its good for them, and good for us at the same time. Its a win-win all around.
RippDrive - June 17, 2007 04:33 AM (GMT)
I'm worried about the money issue. I think it could get a little sketchy. I mean I trust most people on this board but only out of my good nature. I really have no idea who the fuck you guys are or who the jetpens guys are.
All in all I like the idea. More money in the community and more pens in my pocket. I would love to hear more about this. I for one am glad that a pen store wants to work with the community like this.
One question though. Why are they so egar? I mean they aren't overestimating the amount of spinners out there and thinking we will buy a huge amount of pens, are they?
InhumanElmo - June 17, 2007 04:33 AM (GMT)
Finally we are going to get more recognition! This is so awesome!
Crzyazn - June 17, 2007 04:36 AM (GMT)
now for UCPSB's official TV appearance... B)
great idea, anyone feel like giving away UCPSB merchandise to everyone who wants some? *prays*

ok, ill try to address some of your concerns:
the money: basically, its not real money thats going to be flowing around. Only Promo codes to Jetpens.com .... so if we want to give anything away/give prizes ect, we just give you a promo code that jetpens sent us.... no chance of anything being skimmed off the top.
jetpens: They are only testing stuff out right now.... if anything is hurting their business, i dont think they'll hesitate to stop doing it... right now, they are being kind enough to give us some money... we probably wont need the whole 10% every month and will more than likely be giving some of it back to jetpens if we dont need it... for more information you can join the RD.
Zombo - June 17, 2007 01:12 PM (GMT)
rippdrive is IN the RD -_-
well I mean, we used to have no income, now we do. So I guess something is better than nothing no?
Health - June 17, 2007 01:44 PM (GMT)
So we've basically sold our name, and in return we can buy products with the name on it, and we get a fraction of that cash?
Very roundabout way of doing it, but if it works it works :)
Zombo - June 17, 2007 02:17 PM (GMT)
we felt it was better for us to have another store handle the manufacturing of UCPSB merchandise for us, rather than open a store of our own like PenDolsa Store or JaPenCenter.
FallenSeraph - June 17, 2007 03:55 PM (GMT)
hmmm some interesting developments while i was gone.
personally i think 10% is a great deal for jus a banner and participating in tourneys. i mean a banner is nothing since we already have retarded google ones. and wouldnt we WANT more tourneys? im wondering how jetpens wants to make money off this. then again it seems penspinners seem to be its best customers with these nubs buying out all their comssas every single month and then bugging the fuck out of them.
on another note, i think the ucpsb rsvps are kinda sketchy.... personally i lik the normal rsvp print better. plus it rubs off after extended spinning.
RippDrive - June 17, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
Does this mean we are going to be getting our own privately hosted forum soon?
Zombo - June 17, 2007 04:33 PM (GMT)
we're not sure what we're going to use the money for yet.
RippDrive - June 17, 2007 05:26 PM (GMT)
I just thought of something. I would personally LOVE to have UCPSB pencils. Just normal yellow #2 pencils but with the little UCPSB logo and the letters 'UCPSB' in black where the normal company logo goes. I think it would be really classy.
Custom printed pencils are about $0.50 each if you buy 1000 or something like that.

Get PSConclave up again?
It got shut down 'cause we had no money to pay for the bandwidth or something, right?

Hire people to help Kam's project on UPSB 3.
Make UCPSB Apperal.
I don't think Jetpens sponsership won't harm us at all, unless they could control UCPSB.
Crzyazn - June 17, 2007 06:10 PM (GMT)
I don't think it's our responsibility to squabble over the money...
but reopening psconclave would be awesome
pholord - June 17, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
I agree with the reopening of psconclave and getting people back to working on it. this sponsorship sounds good for UCPSB
K4S - June 17, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
Rippdrive expressed the same concerns that i had so i guess i wont learn anymore unless i join RD or something. Anyway, getting psconclave back up would be nice. And tourneys/leagues with prizes would be nice since people tend to be a little more serious when they can win something from it. I'm still surprised at the 10% though.
I look forward to what this partnership leads to.

We will just take all our UCPSB stuff and scratch out the 'C' =p
kam - June 17, 2007 09:26 PM (GMT)
I think the sponsoring is cool, but shouldn't be exclusive. I mean, from what I hear, there are more and more companies interested in sponsoring PS events, specially tournaments and such. If one company is running the event, I'm afraid the rules or results could be biased towards spinners that use that companies' pens.
Also, remember that although 10% of their income is a great deal, it's different than 10% of their sales figures. For example, if they sell a pen for $5.00, their profit might be of only $1.00 after subtracting the initial product costs, cost of running the business and employee salaries. So UCPSB would be getting $0.10, and not $0.50.
Still, it's great to hear that more companies are interested in PS. :)
Zombo - June 17, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
@fallen, the value of UCPSB merchandise would increase. Imagine PDS dies tomorrow, the price of PDS comssa would be immense.
@kam, they don't have exclusivity over ALL UCPSB events. Any events that are sponsored by them can be made exclusive to them (meaning they're the only ones to offer prizes for it) but we don't have to run every event to them.
Proof: Team-spinning tournament is sponsored by Penwish.

aah, good point Kam, I made a mistake...
it IS 10% of sales figures, not just income
Cybrax2 - June 18, 2007 05:35 AM (GMT)
If you are going to have a JetPens logo, have it on the side of the forum vertically.
Someone should make a Wide Leather UCPSB Bracelet. I'd buy that.
