Title: Could You Quit?
Description: note: will power required

TiNY - June 22, 2007 08:09 PM (GMT)
Consider this: Pen Spinning is bad for you, it can lead to many related illnesses, and if you don't quit you will experience long term consequences (PS = Smoking). You have just learned this now, but are already addicted.

Would you quit? Could you quit?

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
:o

Who was the guy who quit 'cause of it?
I couldn't get that trivia question.

Firebird

And no, I couldn't.

LOL!!! That's why Firebird doesn't spin? HAHAHAHAHAHA :blaugh:

Whew... that was a laugh...

Anyways, I chose the smoking one, but I barely smoke, I just knew no one would vote for it so I thought I'd give it a chance B)...

Tainted Elements - June 22, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
yea i think that sucks for firebird. but i would quit. hands down. (no pun intended)

ShoeMan - June 22, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't even want to quit, even if it's bad for me. Sometimes in your life you have to make sacrifices.. you think that people that are into extreme sports don't know that it's harmful for their body? they do, but they keep doing it

SHOEMAN HARDCORE YEAAAAA MOTHAFUCKA!!! haha

Donk3y - June 22, 2007 11:23 PM (GMT)
NOT A FUCKING CHANCE, I have another 4 years of college ahead of me and i'm rooming with a PS'er, there's not a chance in the world i could or would quit.

Oh yeah, and about carpal tunnel SP? i think its a load of bullshit, my friend has it and he can play expert songs on guitar hero without his hands hurting, after 2 hours or so he has to call it quits but its not like if u spin its going to get worse unless ur spinning like a metal bar or something.

Firebird, start spinning!!!!!!!!

JDzzz - June 23, 2007 12:40 AM (GMT)
I cant stop spinning, I pick up anything that is a shape of a pen and spin it.

Its too hard

UnEmploymentDude - June 23, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
Hell no, I'd rather die doing something I like than live bored!

TurbulentTurtle - June 23, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
You're rooming with a PS'er Donk3y? That's awesome! I have no clue who I'm gonna be living with in uni next year, it could be some crazy dude who absolutely hates pen spinning, metal and anime  That would suck for him, or me.

If it comes down to it, I'd be able to quit pen spinning. It might be hard since I subconciously spin a pen if it's in my hand. If there are dire effects in the future though, I'm sure I'd be able to force myself to quit.

strat1227 - June 23, 2007 01:40 AM (GMT)
id consider it... depends on the chances of illness....

smoking barely affects you until ur old anyway lol, so if it was equivilent to smoking then i'd probably not quit...

Eburt - June 23, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
Eh, I wouldn't like it, but I could do it. I've forced myself not to spin before, and its not as hard as it seems... within a few days you can pick up a pen without the instant reflex.

K4S - June 23, 2007 02:42 AM (GMT)
Yes, i could quit, cold turkey....because to be honest im not that great of a spinner at this moment. Modding just kills time, i can always find another addiction if i want to kill time ;)

DaThroat - June 23, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
i COULD do it, if i wanted to.. since to me PS is self entertainment and not an addiction..

the other question is WHY? why would i want to quit?

Zombo - June 23, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)
hmm very easy, all i do now is work on PS theoretically anyway.

Webo Splash - June 23, 2007 05:38 AM (GMT)
People who quit easily are lamers imo. but wait, how is it like smoking? Just cuz of Carpal tunnel syndrome? That's kinda stupid. YOu can spin all you want w/o gettting it. Just take rests. and, no I wouldnt quit. You'd risk a load of fun, just cause it leads to "related illness"? You might as well burn your pen right now...

Ivan the Terrible - June 23, 2007 09:13 AM (GMT)
I could ease off of it. Sometimes I'm fed up of spinning because it takes too much of my time now.

ok wow....

he's posing a hypothetical situation man.... he's not saying it IS equivilant to smoking....

uglymoose89 - June 23, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
I suppose i could ease off the pen spinning but it would be difficult cause i also spin whenever i have a pen in my hand.

Tenku069 - June 24, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)
I would spin until my fingers were as stiff as a rock and i couldn't move the or else it would result in the biggest pain ever and i would have to go through this agony for 3 hours straight...

This MAN deserves some REP!!!

And of course I would quit. PS isn't important an I have other hobbies.

*mindset of someone who already quit ;)*

NINJA edit: You're alba sig sucks too IMO.

TiNY - June 24, 2007 06:51 AM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure Ms. Alba doesn't like pen spinners either...

Eburt - June 24, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
eh, last time I checked, this thread wasn't about Jessica Alba, it was about quitting PS. On topic please?

Kaze - June 24, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
I believe it was Flashy that said that "There are many other hobbies" so yeah it would be sort of easy to give up this hobby, but it starts to seem natural after awhile. A good example of this would be me in a classroom. When there's nothing else to do or if you're just in your problem solving phase or whatever, the penspinning just seems to start all by itself for me. I don't know how the classroom/psing enviroment for you guys is, but this is what happens to me. I could find a simple solution for this though, and that is just to bring a ridiculous(sp?) unspinnable pen to class ^____^. I've looked through the opinions of the other psers here and I most of them I have come to agree with. I'm a crappy spinner anyways, so quiting will be no problem, but i'm not implying that I have no confidence in my spinning ^___^.

tswift_2 - June 25, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
I have a friend who would always do ps in class (only TA though) but he quit because he didn't like dropping so much. I always try to get him to start spinning again, but I can never trick him into unconsciously spinning a pen.

ShortAssassin - June 25, 2007 02:58 PM (GMT)
I don't think I could ever quit. When there is a pen in my hand I subconciously spin it.

Mats - June 26, 2007 08:26 AM (GMT)
I've quit spinning before, both times for many months. Never missed it or thought about it, I'm not really quite sure how the fuck I got back into doing it to be honest. (on both occasions)

I don't intend to quit again though, pen spinning is pretty fun. But if there were major health issues with it, I would not find it hard to quit.

Rockstargames - June 26, 2007 08:49 AM (GMT)
The longest I've gone without spinning was 1 month, and the reason for that was because I lost my pen at school :( .. Shut up, it was a Dr. KT, I cried like a bitch (no I didnt <_<).

I could get off pen spinning but it's just the question of whether I want to get off pen spinning, and the answer to that is no. I find it fun. I also do it subconciously so it's pretty hard.

ryu/stuth - June 26, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
Already stopped spinning. Nothing hard

Zombo - June 26, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
stuth? lol why are you here.

ryu/stuth - June 26, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
Becuse im reeeeally bored

Tenku069 - June 26, 2007 05:55 PM (GMT)

TiNY - June 27, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)
