Any-X tutorial

Finally I feel finished with this mod. The Any-X is build out of pen parts that often gets over after modding other pens, this means that many people probably can get or already have the pens needed for this mod.

Thanks to CPC for helping me and giving me ideas!

Pen parts needed

* 2x Anyball (Profile)
* Hgg tip
* 2x back clicker part of G2
* Inktube (RSVP)



Assembly

1. Cut both of the Anyballs at the red line showed on the picture:


2. Take one of the back clicker part of a G2, cut it by the red lines showed in the picure. Connect the two anyball barrels with the G2 part, use some glue.



3. Cut the other back clicker part of a G2 and file it a bit so that the Hgg tip can be screwd on.


4. Put the back part of a G2 in the Anyball part showed in picture and screw the hgg tip on. If needed use some glue.


5. Make a mark on the inktube 3,4 cm from the tip so that the spring can't go over it. Take one of the springs from an Anyball, bend it a bit (to minimize noise while spinning). Then put it in the Anyball front. The spring must be fully inserted in the Anyball part, the spring must be inserted in the right direction! See picture:


6. Screw the Anyball part with spring and inktube on the barrel. Then pen should look something like this:


7. Take one of the back clicker part of an Anyball, cut it by the red line showed in the picture. Cut a 1,1 cm long part of an anyball intube. Put it all together like showed in picture:


8. Screw it all together and put some Anyball grips at the front and back. Now you should be finished!

The clip at the back can be removed but I keep mine as it makes it look better and more like a pen =)

If I were to make this mod, I would use the area of the Profile barrel where the grip used to be to connect the two Profile barrels. That way, an insert can be used. But I never made one so this is just theory. Thanks for revealing how to screw on the HGG tip. I couldn't figure that one part out. Haha.

THIS PEN IS THE SHIT. I love spinning with it and writing is just a plus though the modding difficulty is pretty high and took some labor in making ^^ Well WELL worth it.

Oh, and i found some random inktube that fit perfectly in my modding box so i used that because it seemed more stable then the G2 piece, and i didn't have any glue. lol.

I suppose since zaazu finally posted his tut i can give some hints as to what i did to accomodate an insert. Just so everyone knows, most of my mods/variations are slightly more complicated than usual.

If you want to use an insert you should use the clear back clicker section...you will need to sand it down so that both sides are symmetrical. Wrap an insert around it and hope you didnt make it too thick or thin. The fit should be SNUG...DO NOT FORCE IT IN or you will crack your nicely cut profile body! Beginner modders will find trying to get an insert in very tedious and annoying and you may just abandon the idea after trying lol.

As for how i got my tip on...the way i did it is probably 2x more secure than the way zaazu did it but at the same time its about 10x harder to do it lol. So imo, do what zaazu did to hold on the HGG tip...it will save you time and effort.

just kidding, but if you could pattent such things, this is one I would suggest doing so. Anyway, its quite beautiful so when I get a chance I'll make one.

make sure you cleaned out the clicker parts the you cut.

Nevermind. Got it. I forgot to put that ret. thingy that's under the clicker part.

Made one, a few things that annoy me are the lack of measurements in some parts (fairly easy to guestimate and make work, but numbers are easier) and also I had to make the 1.1 cm piece in the second clicked part almost as long as the clicker, but that may be because I used profiles, and they may be ever so slightly longer at some part. There was also a lot of sanding and getting the HGG tip on straight in the fron't was a bit of a pain. Try using a small piece of a G2 refill, that might make it easier, but you'd have to secure it somehow. I also don't like the lips that were where the grip used to be, that are now in the middle, but I filed them down... hmmm, mayb I was actually supposed to cut those off too, and thats why my clicker wasn't working... oh well, I got it working now and it spins very well, nice mod! :thumb:

Edit: yeah, I guess I was supposed to cut AFTER those lips, but I cut before them because the line goes right over them in the pic... a little confusing. I guess had I used common sense I should have realized...

the clicker made a lot of noise when i spun it, but I fixed that by making my inktube piece a little longer than 1.1 cm, maybe 1.3 cm, not it spins well, aside from the fact that i have shitty modding skills, so mine doesn't look too great (and it's purple!)

BtW: Is it best to cut the profile barrel with hmm a hacksaw, or is there a better way

ok, i took K4S' little advise and used the profile clicker to attach the bodies, it works sooooooo much better and it really isn't that much more work, plus the insert's look super sexy.

i just made a Red and green one with a stylus instead of ink and i'm friking in love with it. if i find my nice camera i'll take a pic of them both.

@ Faulk, use a hacksaw to cut, sandpaper to smooth/level then for the profile clips, use a dremel tool and they're off in seconds. it took me a total of 23 minutes to finish my 2nd one with a modified inktube/stylus and trying the new way of connecting the bodies.

@ frisbee: I secured my tip using a G2 ink tube with a bit of tape to keep it in the click barrel or watever u want to call it

I have mod me this pen but I changed one thing.

I took the G2 inktube instead of the second G2 clicker part to connect the two Profile barrels. And wrap a bit tape around it.

I tried to use an easytouch clicker part cause its longer instead of 2 g2 parts, only to find that the easytouch is slightly skinnier <_< so dont try to that

This pen is really nice, I made mine yesterday. But, I'm having trouble keeping both profile bodies together.

So i made two last night and i freakin love them, getting the tip on is kinda a bitch though, and I'm just like K4S I refuse to use glue, its messy and I don't like the way it makes plastic brittle. But if anyone in the U.S. knows replacement tips or a way to get signo tips on cuz I have a ton of profiles and g2's so I can make alot of these pens im just severly lacking in HGG tips and I tried signos but they wont stay on with the method used in the tut.

yea I just need an hgg tip now, everything else is working. but it's pretty crappy, I need more profiles :emo:

I found hgg tips on these hello kitty Hgr (?) I found them at a Japanese grocery/gift store called uwujimya (sp)
