Title: How Much Do You Practice?
Description: REAL practice

Eso - July 12, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
This isn't another one of those threads. When I say practice, I mean real practice, where most of the time it includes drops. It means learning some new trick or trying to get a new minicombo (or combo) down.
I do NOT mean bullshit freestyling where you do the same crap over and over again, because I know for sure that consists your entire day.

I noticed that I hardly spend any time doing REAL practice. Most of my days are just the same shit over and over and I really need to stop it. :emo:

ShortAssassin - July 12, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
Depends. Right now I'm not practicing much at all, but in school I practice a decent amount.

Eso - July 12, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
Today I only spent a total of 10 minutes of real practice. The rest were just the same crap... that took up several hours.

strat1227 - July 12, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
same here SA, during school most of my day was made up of hardcore practice...

over summer its mainly the bullshit spammy freestyling

Mats - July 12, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
Maybe 10 - 30 mins, depends on the day.

Webo Splash - July 12, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
1-3 hours. If I like the trick i'll work on it extra harder.

sketching - July 12, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
I don't really practice anymore. -_-

...unless I want to try and learn something specific. Even then, I still do not practice much.

Tainted Elements - July 12, 2007 09:31 PM (GMT)
1-3 f*cking hours or until my fingers get sore.
Practice makes perfect, perfection is obsession.

Zombo - July 12, 2007 09:35 PM (GMT)
0 minute, no need to practice, just thinking.

90% of Pen Spinning is half mental

Eriror - July 12, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
99% of the time, I freestyle. Only 5 minutes are real practising. Then I get bored and start freestyling again.

frisbee - July 12, 2007 09:41 PM (GMT)
I practice over 3 hours a day. I don't count bullshit freestyling in front of the tv, but if im working specifically on smoothness or something i do count it.

ShoeMan - July 12, 2007 09:55 PM (GMT)
hey man, freestyling is very important.. i voted less then 30 minutes, though when i really practice, it's for about an hour, but i only do that like once every two weeks

You know me so well ^_^
When I practice it's usually off and on. like I start practicing, get bored, check ucpsb, remember I should be practicing, practice abit more, get bored, rinse and repeat.
But I have my usual freestyle combo down pretty good, so that's cool.

Eburt - July 13, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
Less than an hour per week... and it'll get even less when school starts...

neXus - July 13, 2007 12:34 AM (GMT)
I dont pratice at all. So less than 30 minutes.

k2thez - July 13, 2007 12:45 AM (GMT)
I rarely practice at all. It's 100% freestyling all the time for me.

WannaPSBetter - July 13, 2007 02:36 AM (GMT)
I find it hard to keep on practising the same tricks but i do practice at least 30 mins a day

When i do practice though i practice one trick for like ten mins then another trick for ten minutes until im bored of practicing the same thing

rodi - July 13, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
Up until recently it was like 10 mins of practice and the whole day of modding/freestyling bullshit..but since I kind of come to a rut in my progression Ive been dedicating a solid hour to and hour and a half a day to learning new tricks so I can keep getting better, I dont want to get to six months of psing and still be at the same level I am now, I wanna get there and be twice as good as I am now, so Im really trying to take a step back from modding(though I really love that creative process) and focus on spinning

It's the same for me!I'm freestyling too all the time!

Wongton Spin - July 13, 2007 09:53 AM (GMT)
i pratice at least a hour other than that i juss freestyle

Beng - July 13, 2007 10:46 AM (GMT)
i basicaly dont spin outside of school

so less than 30 minutes

cadayday - July 13, 2007 11:35 AM (GMT)
i spin when ever im at my computer so 3+ but its mostly freestyle

edit*
lol yes i do admit its 3+ but its not practice

Dongza5047 - July 13, 2007 12:59 PM (GMT)
More than 3 hours to real practice.

I have a lot of free time in a day.

Teatime - July 13, 2007 03:19 PM (GMT)
Still a noob so I practice often...I don't practice every day, although I freestyle all day..
when I do start to learn a trick..1-3 hours.

ellusion67 - July 13, 2007 03:44 PM (GMT)
1 hour or 2 hour

Tenku069 - July 13, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
i would usually practice in all of my classes except for choir and PE. so that averages about 5 hours.

5 hours..my hand will jam :ghost:

Scott Shaputis - July 13, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
i would say i average about 2 hours a day if i hang out with friends 5+ hours

DaThroat - July 13, 2007 04:07 PM (GMT)
i spend less than 30mins a day on a NEW trick, but most of the time i'm trying to smoothen a combo so it looks deceptively bonkura-ish.

spend about 2 hours a day doing that in school. so i spin about a total of 2 hours 30 mins a day.

zepiroth76 - July 13, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
I could give a fuck about practicing.

Kaze - July 15, 2007 01:22 AM (GMT)
If its a move im trying to get, I usually try to master it to the point where I can do it consistently, or until I can successfully perform it in mini combos. Overall, my practice with new moves/mini combos would be 1-2 hours. If im practicing with my right hand, it'll take a longer time. I don't get it. Im a left handed spinner, but I write with my right hand. -_-

Dr1v37h38u5 - July 15, 2007 03:08 AM (GMT)
i don't practice anymore....
i really don't do as much penspinning as i used to.

BCinMB - July 15, 2007 04:07 AM (GMT)
When penspinning for me was really fun..2 years ago (its a bit jaded for me), a good 10 minutes or so.

Now it's like never, and when i get precious free time it's usually spent towards photography etc.

Umm, when did UCPSB go back up? i remember it closed awhile back.

Toast - July 15, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
^more than a year ago ^^

I practice less than thirty minutes a day. And the only time i really practice is while filming. While filming i think of a combo, master all the tricks in it, then send it in. That way all the tricks used in that combo are in my trick arsenal for later uses.

Asian Tim - July 15, 2007 05:04 PM (GMT)
haha if thats the case then...

i never practice.

i do the same things over and over and over and over.

*strat1227 stops practicing

if thats how AT does it, it must work

Ivan the Terrible - July 15, 2007 07:38 PM (GMT)
Less than a hour, I only practice a bit in school and before going to sleep, otherwise I just do the same stuff over and over again.

Onyx-o7 - July 15, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
I practice like an hour and a half. But every time we go somewhere like on a trip I always bring my pen.

K4S - July 15, 2007 08:28 PM (GMT)
Probably less than an hour i guess. Though there are some days where i just dont practice at all due to being busy or modding \o/

You practice more when you hang out with friends? Damn I wish that was my case :P
The only time I ever really practice is if I'm alone, other than that I don't usually bust out my pen. It sucks 'cause most of the time I'm hangin' out with my friends, so I don't get much practice. I freestyle quite a bit, but spend a good majority of the time I practice learning and experimenting. I'd say 30 mins a day, but it's hard to say because the time I spend spinning varies from day to day. Some days I don't spin at all, some I spin for a solid 4-5 hours.

Where the fuck is a Time Chamber when we need one :P
