Very nice combo ShortAssassin!. Just to let you know voters, the voting ends in 5 days. So vote wisely!

Webo Splash - July 18, 2007 12:26 AM (GMT)
Shortass. I thought his was more complex

platypusvictim9 - July 18, 2007 12:34 AM (GMT)
Onyx, his had more variety and I just liked it more. You're really making some quick progress dude :thumb:

Thanks man.!

As platy said you are making fantastic progress dude! I'm really impressed with your combo, you had a lot of new material in it. The smoothness could have been better and the ending didn't have much closure but other than that well done

strat1227 - July 18, 2007 02:02 AM (GMT)
nulled, both appealed to me in different ways.... like'd 'em both....

onyx... i dunno why but your's never feel like combos to me.. just like alot of tricks put together.... like "3 trick minicombo, 3 trick minicombo, 3 trick minicombo" and its over... they dont really feel like they're all part of one...

BUT, the 3 trick minicombos were fairly impressive, enough for me to null

ShortAssassin - July 18, 2007 02:06 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I agree with Strat, if you can just straighten out some of the linkages you'll be making great combos in no time.

So many unexplained votes :(

Eburt - July 18, 2007 02:30 AM (GMT)
I voted for Onyx... largely in part because your clip was re-used Short... its nt technichally against the rules, but its a pet-peeve of mine. If you're gonna commit to do something, the least you can do is actually do it, instead of re-using a clip.

That said, short's combo was very strong. Good variety, linkage, interesting tricks... not too shabby, actually reminds me of my spinning a bit. Other than that, it might have been a little short... had you showcsed a bit more it might have gotten better difficulty/variety, but of course it could have just ended up as spam. So perhaps not a bad choce in the end...

Onyx's combo was strong in different ways. I felt it was a bit harder, largely due to the double TA. Its hard to say about smoothness because he was really smooth in some linkings and then like every 3 tricks or so, would have a crappy link, like strat said. My suggestion would be to just freestyle random tricks more often, rather than focussing on learning new things, for a few days at least. Longer combos too...

ShortAssassin - July 18, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
Heh, sorry Eburt. Because the deadlines were so close together for the Noob collab and this battle I planned on using the same combo. It wasn't a matter of not wanting to film for this or lacking commitment, I just planned ahead of time to use the same vid.

Edit: I have that problem you mentioned with trying to lengthen combos. If I try to make them too long I feel like I start spamming tricks, but if I try to keep from spamming the combo ends up too short lol. Guess I need a larger trick variety. Thanks for taking the time to comment :).

Eburt - July 18, 2007 02:37 AM (GMT)
Eh, thats fine... lots of people have done it, just really kinda annoys me is all. Probably woulda been a null, but that threw it in his favor for me. BTW, nice combos both of you... you newer guys learn so damned fast...

Edit: And your welcome for the comment, hope it helps.

ShortAssassin - July 18, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
Onyx is learning really fast. He showcased 2 new mini combos in this video and they were smooth too. I'm doing alright, but I still feel like I recycle the same tricks in every combo. As I do more videos I think people will start to notice. Onyx definitely has a bright future ahead of him though.

Onyx-o7 - July 18, 2007 03:23 AM (GMT)
I tried learning new tricks. The new tricks that I learned yesterday was the bak->midbak. So I had to master that part for my combo. Also I wanted to try something new, like I said the baks were that tricks I learned yesterday so I added that on the combo. Still have to learn the "bakfall" which hard for me, I can't even do the ring bak. But any who, I shall practice on linkage then.

I voted for ShortAssassin because this is a battle and in a battle, whoever has the higher technical difficulty wins IMO. E, you need to work on your ending. It looked hi-jacked. While Onyx had a MUCH more eye-appealing combo, his linking wasn't all that good. Based on technicality, I would have to go with Short. Now, take this advice and get to working on better linkings and make a longer combo. If you continue to use the same minicombos, you will drop in the ladder (no pun intended).

Good job to both of you! :thumb:

that makes no sense, you're saying the only criteria for judging a battle is difficulty, clearly wrong.

Eso - July 18, 2007 04:24 AM (GMT)
Eh, wrong choice of words from me. Of course, linking, tempo, and variety matter too. I didn't know a single word that would group all those things together.

xshadowfire - July 18, 2007 06:30 AM (GMT)
nulled. neither felt long enough to be a real combo and short's ending felt like he was about to do another trick but knew he wouldn't land it so just stopped.

Zombo - July 18, 2007 01:16 PM (GMT)
the time limit is like 15 seconds so...

MingoDynasty - July 24, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
I voted for Short cuz his smoothness just blew Onyx away :P
Not that I'm saying Onyx's vid was completely bad, in fact I thought it was pretty close with Onyx's complex combo against Short's nicely smooth but short combo. But Short took my vote with smoothness :P

Mats - July 24, 2007 09:08 AM (GMT)
Shortassassin wins 23 - 14.

Onyx-o7 - July 26, 2007 11:33 PM (GMT)
OKay thanks for the match. Seems like I have to learn alot of stuff. Going to practice my linking then thanks again for the great battle Shortassassin! Your cool.!

ShortAssassin - July 26, 2007 11:38 PM (GMT)
Thanks Onyx, keep up the good work. In a month you'd kick my ass if we battled again, you improve so quickly.

Onyx-o7 - July 26, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
