Sorry dudes, I've been working on assignments for my summer classes as of late, so I haven't had time to really look at the piece yet. My last assignment of the term is due this Wednesday, but I'll try to finish it up sooner than that.

Oh i have to update my status, I'm on page 4 of actually learning it. I have other stuff on my hands at the moment, and I haven't really got much time for this.

the trio part is a bitch.
Flip - July 24, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
I have the main section down pretty well, just started working on the trio.

firebird your difficulty bar is so innacurate,
although the minuet is indeed 2/10, the trio is more like 3.5-4.
It has to be played at the very least prestissimo I think, with double octave jumps on the left hand... though.
But perhaps the most difficult aspect of this piece is rhythmic rigor.
Bear in mind that the context of this piece (and the game) is the exploration of the New World (17th century).
The music at that time was Baroque, which is very far away from Romantic Rubato. This is further reinforced by the fact that the piece is written in a minuet and trio format, which originated in the late Baroque era, as part of (Dance) Suites.
The tempo must strict and the dynamics terraced. Of courses, there's bit of leeway, but not much.
And so, maintining a fast tempo (upwards of 240 bpm) and steadying the flow of the notes is very hard. Most likely you will play some notes too slow and some too fast, resulting in a loss of regularity.
Just think of Bach when playing this.

I changed the rating. I tried practicing last night but it's as if my fingers have lost all their dexterity from lack of practice.

I don't think anyone else is going to submit so I win by default :)

LOL, I haven't been practicing it either. Zombo what the fuck were you playing in the trio part?
Zombo - July 30, 2007 10:51 PM (GMT)
the RH is mostly correct, the LH is not.

BTW, due date for sign up was today, not submission, but I don't really give a shit, z-bo can win.

Bravo Zombo, I took piano lessons a long time ago but it never stuck with me. I wish it had :(

I know, but mats said he won't film and firebird told him he didn'like the piece, so I doubt anybody is gonna do it.

It's not that I don't like it. It's that I've been studying the past few days. But you can win I guess (even though the trio wasn't pretty) since I'm not really motivated to film let alone play anything. It's like all my piano skill has gone down the drain since I was 17 heh.
